'ello from Atlanta!

Mockingbird

New Hunter
Hello all! This turned out a lot longer than expected. Sorry!

I'm a very longtime lurker and admirer that finally joined up... and just remembered I never introduced myself. I'm Jen, and am actually from fabulous south Devon, England. I moved to Atlanta at the end of 2009 to be with my then-boyfriend (we got married last year, so it went quite well) and am still not a fan of the heat. I'm a lifelong Star Wars fan and also a massive comics geek, and always wanted to have an armoured Star Wars costume but there were no female characters I felt I could do, and sadly I would have made a terrible AT-AT. My second dream costume was Shockwave (Transformers G1). Failing both of those, I stuck with superhero costumes and have spent most of my time at conventions as various Marvel characters (I also have a Supergirl costume that I wear for events with my non-profit group, Heroes Alliance). You can see those here on my flickr.

In 2007/8 I was on another board and flirting with the idea of creating an original Mandalorian, but ended up losing interest (I suck at originals) and drifting away. Then, when the first rumour of Katee Sackoff voicing a female Mandalorian in Clone Wars surfaced, I looked at my husband and said "DONE." (Huge BSG fan here too.) Finally, a character for me to do! ... So I spent a couple of years feeling like I would never be able to do Bo-Katan justice because all the ones I've seen have been so brilliant. But a kick up the arse from my husband and a fantastic season five of Clone Wars motivated me to go ahead with it, so I've been slowly working on it since March. It's excruciatingly slow going because I work full time as an aquarium trainer and am an artist outside of work with very little time for other things, but I'm pleased with my progress so far and am excitedly waiting for some mail from Cruzer and Seeker this month. Hooray! Once I've gotten some more done this weekend I may make a thread.

Lovely to meet you all!
