And it begins...

Hi everyone, my name is Patrick. I'm a pastry chef here in Oklahoma. Here are a couple of Star Wars cakes I've done...

At any rate, Boba Fett has been on my radar forever, and I'm finally ready to dive in. I recently acquired one of the Rubies supreme costumes for $150. I know that there is a TON wrong with it, but at that price I couldn't turn it down. Now I have no intention what so ever of just throwing this thing on and calling it a Fett. I'm using it as a base. Upgrading, replacing, repainting. I have a short(ish) list of things to take care of before I even think of wearing this in public. Other larger items like the jet pack will be repainted and made as passable as possible, and eventually replaced all together.

And so it begins...

Nice set of cakes Patrick. I just had my 40th birthday and the cake maker said she couldn't do anything officially Starwars due to copyright issues, so I got space cake with "May the 40th Be With You" written on it. I hope you'll make cakes for those who want them! Welcome to the forum! I'm new here too actually so this is my first post.

I am trying to find the Rubies Supreme Costume for a cheap price also so I can upgrade it myself! Any Ideas?

Don't waste ANY money on it...unless you get it free (unlikely) its a Halloween quality costume. If you have any aspirations of joining a group like the 501st...or just making a movie quality suit its not a good starting point at all and its more of a waste of money. In the end you'll be trying to polish a turd. Its really that bad. From seeing it first hand in person and painting a rubies helmet...I can tell you the parts you can get here are a million times better then the rubies stuff to the point that you would look back after buying it and kick yourself for ever considering it...

Thanks for the advice much appreciate it! I think I should go the proper way about it :)

Maybe some bounty hunters here can help me out :D

What do you think of this for a start? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141506258427?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I could paint and fill in the details!

What you think?

Look to be fair here you really need to figure out what you want it to look like quality wise. If you want something that meets 501st standards to go trooping around in the country then the quick answer is no. If you want something however as a fun crafty project that will ultimately be looked down upon maybe by only those truly geeky folks that know Fett inside out...then yea that would be fine.

The best bet is to start by ordering the pieces piece meal. Start with the base parts, aka buy an accurate flight suit, then build up from there. You could temporarily transplant pieces of the Ruby set to the flight suit and build out from there.

The bottom line is there is no right or wrong answer here because it depends on what you want to get from the experience.
