Well I had made a long post to introduce myself but the site ( or more likely my connection) glitched and it was lost. Shorter version:

Hi all, great site you guys have here. I was looking to building some stormtrooper armour for a costume wedding I'll be attending towards the end of the year but your site has rekindled my love of things Fett. (always my favourite character, hell I think my wife's first present for me was an old Fett action figure she'd scrounged up somewhere.) So now I'm hoping to scratch build myself a Fett costume. Since I'm not naturally crafty or creative I think I'll end up having to purchase the more difficult pieces to be ready for the wedding but I'll be aiming at replacing everything with stuff I make myself.

Looking forward to picking your brains,

-Gabe

you are in the right place my friend :D

I am a little partial to ye olde white armour myself, and there are some excellent armourers in canada as well!

but I digress..... TDH is a fantastic resrouce for all ur Fett needs; whether its for scratch building or buyin kit.

as u are doin it for costume wedding; I take it that u are not gonna go mega mega accurate? I would say that most people take their time to gather their fett gear if they are going to go accurate. I would say something like a stormtrooper is prob easier to "get right" if time is a factor. mind u - u got 11 months :D

there are currently restrictions on where u can post (ie being a new member and all); but one of the best bit of news is the return of a great Fett provided - FETT PRIDE in tha HOUSE... every one go oooooohhhhh, every one go aaaooooohhhh

ok just me then :D but seriously - check out FP when u get free of the confines of newbiness

but enjoy ur research! welcome to TDH and enjoy ur stay!

Heh! Thanks for the welcome!

Yeah the stormtrooper armour was my first choice simply because, while not easy, it is easier than doing the Fett armour that I'd prefer. For my first suit I'm going for just a single accurate, or if I get rushed I may settle for a near miss, but after the wedding I'll start working on that Accurate, accurate armour :)

i'd say everyone has space for a stormtrooper armour some where :D

you'd be surprised with how fast u can put a nice bit of stormtrooper kit together.

boba fett has always been my backgrd project - 6 months, and only just gettin the lid and armour ordered. man I am slow.

good luck - and remember; we likey piccies

btw - have u convinced the wife that she should go with Slave Leia cossie to match up with ur boba? One of the big girls on this site does a crackin kit :D

Oh man that's too funny.....this was exactly what my wife said when I told her I was going to make my self a costume... "I am NOT getting a slave Leia costume"....I hadn't even mentioned it....yet! She didn't take it well when I told her how cute she'd look in the costume....while being very pregnant

I'm sorry Lopie, but what's a 1/6 customizer? I've never run across that term before. My only guess would be that you're scratch building 1/6 scale props/models.

Which brings me to a point that I'd like to make. These kinds of sites, Dented Helmet, 501st Legion, etc. really need to have a glossary of common terms. The site is full of short forms ranging from the easy (ANH, ESB, ROTJ) to the obscure....well obscure for newbies (I'm thinking mainly of shorts of members names like WOF, MOW, FP. I know who they are now but quite confusing the first few times I visited. Armour manufacturers names shortened are another hard one.)

ah theres a reason for that man
its even worse on 501 affiliated sites - its cos of the grey area that prop replicas exist ie they are all basically infringements on GL's intellectual property.

In an effort to protect armours - initials are used. Its kinda why theres usually a "do ur research" caveat on these sites.

TDH is one of the most open forums I post on. It also has a TDH wiki - which is such a great resource for all the short forms. but I know wot its like - feel free to pm me if u got questions.

pregnant padme costume from ROTS!!! soz - I know wot its like, my wife simply ignres me now

Nate

LOL I suggested the Padme costume as well and was shot down just as quickly though for entirely different reasons. Padme's "costumes" were horrible....actually we try and prefer the entire set of prequels don't exist, sure there are some really, really cool things in there but I just can't take watching them very often. I'll stick to my old VHS copies of the original trilogy that I bought back in the early 90s, chewed up tapes and all!
