WIP: Solo's Custom Build

Got the backplate done tonight too... I need to go on business trips everytime I am working on a costume!

Wow, this looks fantastic!

How much is this project costing altogether? 'Cause it's seriously getting me interested in PVC.

For the armor only...

I have $28.00 in the PVC pipe and $6.00 in the rub-n-buff. I was able to do all of this with one pipe (10' long, 6" in diameter) with some left over.

So the answer is $34.00 I guess. The biggest reason I chose to do my own armor, other than the cost is because I am 6'6" tall and having buit three clones and a Darth Vader, I can assure you that if anyone has armor to fit someone 6'6" tall that it is going to be scarce. My pet peeve is having armor too small. So I made my own to make sure it would fit properly...

Other items to consider... I wanted a heat gun to get the armor exactly like I wanted it. The cost for that was $22.00. The only other items I used were bondo on the knees as well as about $3.00 worth of doo dads from a local hardware store to make the darts, a little bit of bondo and small pieces of ABS for the detail on the backplate, sandpaper, wax paper (sat the PVC on it when I put it in the oven), and a few cans of primer and I think that's about it...

I used a jigsaw to cut the pattern out of the pipe. It worked fantastic. If you don't have one... borrow one to do this. I did use a Dremel for some of the smaller work too.

Hope this helps some.

Got the helmet done for the most part. Still have a few things that I want to try but for now it's pretty much good to go...

I do like the grey on silver and I like the pearlescent look you have on the grey, some might say that you would need to give it a bit of weathering though :)

Yep... weathering incoming. Goona apply some blackwash at the end of the project so I can make it uniform.

Thanks for the note. :)

Finished the girth belt... I am pretty happy with the results especially considering the cost involved (or the lack thereof) to complete it.

I think I failed to mention what exactly I am doing here overall in the original posts...

Gonna end up looking like B'arin Apma for now. I am staging this so that if I want to convert him to a 501st approved costume, I'll just add some red to the helmet, shoulders, and gauntlets and have the Open Seasons Jango...

Here's info on B'arin Apma:

Yeah, for now... :)

Weathering is my future in addition to the jet pack, hosters, and some changes to the assembly.

I think you might want to attach some longer pouches at the hips on your belt, I think it would even out the flow of your armour as your hips seem to stick out between the thigh plate and the belt on the side of your leg.

Perhaps even a kama or braids or something.

Holsters incoming! I am going to hide those stinking straps too and that will help even things out as well.
