    Vhonte Tervho build

Well under the suggestion of a few members here, I will post my progress. I normally don't post much, on this or any other board, just build stuff! But I decided to go through with this, maybe I will even make a few friends! The first pic is what I am going for, the rest are in progress pics. I have gauntlets and pistols started, but not really pic worthy yet!

Oh man those pics don't really do those pieces justice. I am no photographer! And I have more things done and pics and such, but I will wait til I get a better spread of the pieces and a little more done. The silver thighs and shins are just the base over primer. All the hard armor parts will probably be the same, the silver base, then a blue, then maroon, then the red, going with a Boba layered look. Well thats the idea anyway! And I painted that helm a while ago, but will probably end up repainting it the same as the rest of the hard parts.. Maybe go with the mustard idea. And all the rivits and snaps will be painted on the belt, the 3 tubes painted, and more. Geeze too much to explain! I think that ..boobie mold? will be ready to try to pull in about a week or two, accounting a back fill and final surfaceing and actually getting it to the guy with the Vac set-up. Well,

If not then "HE" has a serious chest allergy.

I like the way this is coming along and look forward to seeing more pics as further progress is made.

Yes it is a female.. didn't think there would be much doubt there.. Heh! Anyways I am trying to follow that pic (and there is one more), pretty closely. Of course some things don't tranfer to reality easily. I am trying to capture a "real" Mando look and feel.. following some Boba and Jango ideas, ya know?

I'm sure it will all turn out ok in the end, the thing to remember is not what you see now, it's the final outcome that counts, you will get there. All the same you are doing fine, it looks great.....

The concept is very well thought out. The one thing that I would do differently to the shin armor to give them a bit more meat is to double the top and seam the two pieces by feathering a bit of bondo to slope them together. Right now they look a bit bare and thin, otherwise great work so far.

So Michigan Jaster , you are saying basically take a smaller version and glue it to it, then feather, so the center (vertically) is thicker, then tapers out to about the first layer at the edges? I was thinking since they were going to be painted and weathered anyway they would look all right, but if I am thinking what I think you are thinking, that is a good way to go to thicken em' up! Maybe I'll play around with that. Next thing is the cod.. gotta make it smaller and curved right, thinking more the Jango where it does not go all the way across like Boba, and maybe attach it to belts like some Jango's do. I think by spending a little more time and not rushing through it it will come out ok. It is taking a lot more time and work than I thought, but it is still fun, and I have a vision! Well, I think I thought I did.. Thanks!

    Re: Vhonte Tervho build

Really great idea! I wondered when someone would get around to making a costume based upon that image. Wasn't that an image from a Star Wars Insider magazine bit on Mandalorians? I've been planning on using a similar set of spiked foot armor and this image was my inspiration. I also like the leather Pauldron-like things on the shoulder armor and had thought about doing a similar one. My thinking was that it'd be a bit of padding where the stock of my sniper rifle rests as I'm firing it. Perhaps you can give me some tips about how yours was made and how you've fastened it to your armor, or anything else relevant. The helmet looks great so far, I can't wait to see it finished as it looks like you do good work...

Awesome work! Did you buy or make the helmet? Are you building it for someone in particular? If not remember "If you build it, they will come." I'm sure some lady would go for wearing that costume. It looks really good. What did you make the shins out of?

To Southern hunter, yes I am building it for "somebody". Most of the parts are reproducible? I think but I am still working and reworking lotso' things. And the helmet was just a Jango bucket I got a while ago for fun, so I used that. The shins are just sintra, but will be changing them along with the thighs. And even though this a kind of custom, I like spending time with it to get the look I want. And Ion_Cannon_Gunner, that belt was almost embarassingly easy.. A Solo belt though takes some time and research, ya gotta get that one right! Sometimes the things you think will be hard turn out easier, and the easy things you go to work on take forever!

Well GCNgamer128, I thought I would paint those cyliders, but you like that look? Cool, I really wasn't sure to paint them, just thought it would blend in better. And fightstar, those spikes are are pushed through sintra with holes drilled through. And I have been working on one of the two guns, will post pics this weekend, but want to put the closer to done pics rather than the pre pics, but will also have the progress pics if anyone really cares. They took a turn from one style to another with a quickness! You will see what I mean when I get some pics up. And that stupid cod piece is a pain, still workin on it. Thank you all for the positive feedback! I never expected so much interest.

Well I do agree the red and black combo has been done, but I did not choose that, it is what was there. And while the other pic with the 2 mando's getting hitched is a cool one, with the yellow scheme and all, it is not what I chose to do. I will do that eventually I think! Man, that boob armor was harder than I thought, but is ending very well! I will be pulling that soon, and once it is pulled and trimed to the Mando style, I think it will rock! whats is funny is I had pm's already about smaller boobs and bigger boobs! Heh all I can think of right now is that south park episode where the 6th graders ask for a pic of cartman's mom's boobs and they draw them on cartmans a,s,s, and they say BYOOBS! or like,bey-oobs! Ya know? heh heh!.. well I have some pics of modified Jango blasters I will post tommorow, along with a pre pre pre-codpiece. EDIT And I just got a request about would it fit a triple D ( 38 DDD)! And I actually saw the tag from the bra..

You may be onto something here. Apparently there is more demand for female mando armor than anyone may have suspected. Could you use some chest manequinns as a form when you vacuum form pieces? I know most of the mannequinns are B cups. This could save you time on creating B cup armor.

Well the green gun I am not going to use.. that was just playin a around with ideas. Both westars will be modded the same. Probably rub n buff em, see how that looks, or try something else. I used sintra to get the shape, then bondo to fill in all the gaps and get that smooth look. I dunno I think they will look good, plus kinda cool having the westar as a base, a real Mando used gun. Thinking about adding grips to cover the hole there, but I kinda like that hole, because that handle and the tapered front end keep that westar look.

From what I see from the pic only the blaster in her left hand is the westar idea you're going for. The one in her right from the front looks like a modded 1911 .45 Handgun to me. I would know, I love 1911's lol.

It is the same gun in both hands. It just gives off the impression of a 1911 based model due to the lack of detail.

I agree, TxFett, I think they are supposed to be the same, just not drawn the same. Which is why I was going to make both the westars the same. Even though mine are not going to 100% accurate to that pic, they are not a bad rendition. I might go back and add the piece in front of/part of the trigger guard, but I am not going to try to make them look exactly like that pic.

Very well done. Good attention to details from what i see in the pics.

The Rubies helmet seems to fit your size/build quit well.
Belt and holsters could use a little weathering but otherwise looks fantastic.

Hey thanks for all the comments! It was a lot of dang work, but came out pretty well. It seemed everything took longer than I thought it would.. I could do more weathering on the cape, the belt and hosters are a little weathered but hard to see in those pis, but could use a little more. But since I am bringing this to C4, its as good as it gets for now!

I do have to ask, I have had a few female members ask me about making some and, I would like to know about the chest pieces you made. Was that hand formed, or casted off someone? Or, another thing I was actually thinking about was those female half manequins

    Rotton,

    That came out fantastic!!!

You took a comic book picture and created a whole suit from it, which is no easy task...trust me...I know first hand.

    Fantastic work!!

Can`t wait to see pics from your first troop in it.

Hey thanks! We were all over the place at C4, somehow managed to miss most of the mando gatherings, exept that one big pic, and can barely be seen! Well thats allright, would like to have made over to the TDH table a little more to chat armor and stuff. But great fun there! It was weird, some people liked it (and a few even recognized it!) that were not costumers/501st, and a lot of costumers were like uh.. ya.. a girl Fett.. or Boobie Fett! HAHAHA! Well I think it has a real Mando look and not so much a "custom" look, kept with the pics, the Mando basics, and even the handmade gauntlets were pic inspired and Fett inspired. Tom Hodges the Artist was totally diggin on it, but If I drew a pic and some fool made a costume from it? I would do the same! Also it seemed many people did not like the Femme Fett idea, or even custom for that matter. But the general people seemed to like all the various Fetts and Mando's. Oh and the chest armor was molded off a person, but the pull could be cut and modified probably to fit other sizes. The mold had some backing issues, wasn't solid, so came out wider than needed, but actually works out fine, didn't change the dimensions of the boob/cup shape. Obviously in the pic the plates are not all lined up.

Hey, don't let what others think detract from the awesomeness of your armor. I have to say this is one of the best sets I've ever seen, and the fact it's a fem mando makes it better!

The main goal when you look at your armor should be: "Does this make me happy?"

Now I gotta get my girl into a set of mando somehow =D She keeps resisting but I know one day she's gonna break.

Your always late to the party Jim.

It was awesome seeing the whole outfit in person at C4. I never had a chance to say it in person but you did a magnificent job with all the visual material that you had available.

    Rotton--

First, great work of course! I saw some random pics of C4 and believe I saw a few of you. I recognized the armor from the Insider images too! Your hard work definitely shows!

You are probably THE person I need to talk to about a Femme Mando...I have read from several sites that Sintra is the stuff to use, but you also use bondo from your descriptions. I have never used either medium and have never tried an armor costume, but Sintra seems like it would be fairly easy to use. I'm bigger than a "B" too , so the chest plate is something I really had no idea how to start on.

(To some other comments in this thread--if only I were lucky enough to have "Star Wars spouse" LOL)

Thanks for posting your progress pics. It's great to see a start-to-finish

Hey, you can't be blamed for trying! And Darth Taiter 79, sintra is the basis, and the bondo is used to smooth/round out, to hide transitions (seams) to give that one piece look. Bondo is really not that hard to work with, just a lot of sanding and dusty! I would get some and play with it. I am sure there are tutorials on bondo'ing. PM me if you have more qustions on that or anything really! I like the Sexy mando idea, but would be a lot of work for what you get. Couldn't wear it very often. Probably spend that time on some other projects. But maybe there is an easy way to do it. It would be fun to do. Who knows!

I KNOW my next husband will HAVE to be a Star Wars fan (better yet Mando fan), there's no getting around that. lol

Rotton, THANKS! I will probably throw some more Q's your way. For now, I might try that too: get some bondo/sintra and play around a bit to get a feel for the materials.
I'm not much for cleavage-showing, so I'll be going for a more "conservative" Femme Mando look LOL

I would think most Mandalorian men would be turned off by the fact that a Mando woman would leave such a vital spot of her body such as the chest vulnerable to attack for the sake of personal vanity. That's just my take on it.

Well sure Mando armor would not have a big cleavage spot open, but that would just for fun for cons and such. Hey there are no girl TK's or TI's or whatever for real, (well by real I mean, well you know, not in the movies and stuff..) but that doesn't mean that armor looks bad or can't be worn here and there and look hot, even if it's not really "functional". That is one of those things.. Some people love the sexy/slutty/hot armor look, some hate it and think girls should just wear regular armor! But boob showing in just about any kind of get-up draws attention and has that advantage I guess. And sometimes you have to slowly introduce your Sig. Other into these things.. Like spotting or hanging with the other people in their position, trying on different armor/gear and such.

Rotton, again, just amazing work! I finally got to see ALL of the pics (my comp/connection is slow sometimes), but I was wondering how you got the "worn paint" look? I've had that happen by accident before working on a costume prop, but to repeat the process--I wouldn't know how to keep the rest of the paint from coming off.

Well I was actually asked my a member here to make some kind of tutorial! Cool! Most of the stuff I did I was from a few pointers I read here and there, experience from other costume building, but mostly just had at it until I got it how I wanted. (I still want to change/fix some things). I weathered it with the yellow mustard technique. Which is layering paint with mustard as a mask. kinda. I'll pm ya!

It's definitely tutorial worthy =D Especially after the recent posts I've seen about people needing femm armor...as well as my own need to learn how to put it together for my GF =D

    So yeah, anticipating a how-to!

mrs.slave1pilot is doing a Custom (showing cleavage of course) & I'm a little stumped as to how to start her chest armour.
I have thought about doing a life-cast myself (nope, I don't need any help) but if a similar one already exists why go through the hassle?

Ya on that tutorial.. I am not sure where I can go with that. I t seems a lot what I did is already in pics.. I mean I have from scratch gauntlets pics, a few belt ones, the legs and knees, and some more, but I guess I feel it (mostly!) was put together like any other mando or costume.. make pieces, paint, attach, you know? It seems like the knowledge of how to do that stuff is already out there. I guess I could still post pics in order with text of how I did it.

HAHAHA! funny an stuff! Well reading back through here, this IS basically a tutorial.. Like I said before, I have a few pics of the gauntlets coming together, maybe the knees, the thigh molds and such, but I don't see much that isn't here. I went into the mustard paint weathering, could do a little more there I guess? How about I just post whatever pics I have that are not already here! Looking foward to seeing these other Femm armor come together!
