New Hunter
Hi ya'll!
It's been a while since i've been around. Finals have had me running ragged. I've started on my vest and would like some opinions on it.
during Thanksgiving I managed to aqquire one of the most beautiful pieces of leather I have ever seen. The metallic green/bronze lambskin here.

Unfortunatly I did not have enough of it to make an entire vest. So I ordered another skin off ebay. It was quite a different shade of bronze from the original.

See?

I've decided to try and work with this problem. I've come up with a few sketches of some vests that I hope would work. Any opinions and suggestions are more than welcome

Which one do ya'll like best? any other ideas? Thanks in advance

What are you going for in style?

Style 2 is a little on the sexy side, so I'd go for style 3

Not going for sexy so much. I really want something that doesn't look like I ran out of fabric and shows off the green bronze well. I'm thinking of adding the lace up sides for all of them

Being female you're not goimg to escape "sexy" much, If you are really trying to get away from it cross lacing is a big no no on that.

However, I would say that looking into making a corset of some type would also look great, it would use your body assets against your foe, as men find it really, really hard to shoot women. :)

Despite it upping the sexy factor, giving it side laces should conserve some fabric and that's the main goal. and considering how flashy the rest of the armor is, I doubt it'll be out of place

I have no trouble with sexy myself, though I can understand why people want to be practical, a certain "wow" factor in costuming is needed :)

If you really want to save fabric, then I suggest a 3 panel corsett style shirt, something along the lines of:

It whales out to the hips, gives extra body protection and you should be able to plate it up nicely too :)

That one is nice, but a tad too sexy for me. thank you anyway.

Reading through this Tori, if you were to use even Leather lacing for the sides, you could determine how wide after wards you want the gap on your vest....and size it to you then. And use the leather lacing to tie it up and continue the look of the vest (as opposed to braided nylon shoe laces, lol)

Like this stuff. That should save you nice strip of leather on each side. Then you can sport an underarmor shirt under the vest, help to keep cool/warm depending on the climate.

I like style #1... my suggestion is to accent the two tone instead of trying to hide it. If you make it look like an intentional accent to your vest, it won't look like you ran out of fabric but more like you deliberately styled it that way... plus the sides being a different color just looks really cool. I also agree with the side lacing... yes it amps up the "sexiness" of it but... it does look good and it's actually quite cool looking imo. I would also suggest you go with the "corset" design, maybe just not so much as Saz's sketch
