Trashcan armor

So Im looking into making a suit of mando or ARC armor and I keep hearing that a "cheep" way to make one is by using Trashcans. how does that work?

For The Arc I can't offer any info. But for Mando Armor I can help there, as My set is made from a trashcan. Use the wizard of Flight templates.Trace them out on the trash can of your choice. The Ones most people use are the Walmart specials for about seven bucks. 13 gallon sterilite. It has a curve to the front so this helps the curvature of the armor. Get a good Dremel tool (black and decker) use a cutting wheel and cut out the armor. Use a Heat gun to heat the plastic so that you can form it easily. Make sure to over bend it as it will unfold itself to it's original shape. I rivet everything to my vest but thats up to you. There are plenty of tutorials on here that will show more indept look on how to do it, but this gives you an idea. Hope that helps to get ya jump started.

Also if you are near a moderately sized town and can get some sintra/pvc foamboard, you can get a 3x3 sheet for $15 and have it thicker & totally form fitting. My version 1 was trashcan and version 2 sintra. Trashcan method can be rough to cut and are not formfitting. Sintra can be scored with a box cutter and molded with a blow dryer or oven. You can even get cardboard, cut out the shapes and form it then fiberglass it or coat with fiberglass resin. A fiberglassing kit is less than $20 at Wal-Mart. The best thing to do is to browse through the forums here and on the www.mandalorianmercs.com to see peoples' WIP threads and various guides.
