custom shoulder bells from that lid could be nice. If you need to bend them, just heat gun 'em.

Re: Starting my first Mando today

yeah bondo glass is exactly what it sounds like. It's bondo, with fiberglass mixed in to it, completely harmless (except for the fumes) until it hardens, then it's basically fiberglass/bondo coating for anything that u need to repair/build using fiberglass, very tough stuff.

yup i know the maverick... I have a lil Nerf N-strike plunger blaster for a sidearm, and I use my heavily modded Recon right now when my nephews want to play nerf... but when I get the Raider I'll attach the small scope and the Red Dot aiming light and go to town on 'em. lol

Its semi-automatic so its pretty intence.... or at least until you fire all 35 shots (takes forever to reload them all back into the clip :/ )

sweet! I was going to have a bandolier full up of nerf darts to use as "microdets" but I don't think I'm going to now... I may still do it yet tho, it seems like something a tough bad*** air commando might wear... altho I've yet to see one actually do it. lol

Oh and kal, you know a lot about guns do you think i should cut off the front handle on my nerf? so i could just hold the barrel to make it look more blaster like?

nah I like the front grip... it's more tactical! lol seriously tho... I like the front grip and if u cut it off the gun will be non functional (i think). However, if u disassemble it (take a pic of the internals so u can get it back together) paint it and reassmble it, the thing should still work if u decide u want to play with it! lol Don't forget to keep the orange muzzle tho! It's the law! (even tho a lot of mandos disregard it)

Re: Starting my first Mando today

well the law (in the US) states that toy guns must have the front 1/4" of the muzzle painted orange. A lot of ppl paint black over it and get away with it tho... I would just be careful with it, altho my gun looks a lot more like a real gun so I WON'T be taking any chances.

the left, there's a lil slot there to insert the mag... just like the DC-17s should have... I like the placement of it, but since I'm lefty it'd be nicer if it was right side or bottom fed.

DO NOT pick it up on the hot end. That's all I got...

in all seriousness, dont do that. I did it and still have the scars to show for it...

And dont concentrate the heat all in one spot (unless you are working that spot for a reason). Evenly heat the entire plate to form it.

Good luck and post pics once your done!!!

hey lev'ika if u can find some decent leather work gloves (WalMart for like $12) they'll last u longer than just this project and save u A LOT of pain... I've been using my old work gloves (got a new pair for actual work) to shape armor since I started and they have saved me a lot of grief... but u have to use leather because anything else will transfer the heat right to your fingers or melt and fuse to your skin... which is probably worse than a minor burn.

put on a thick sweatshirt that u don't mind if it gets messed up, put the plate where it'd fit on u and hold the pieces to you to get the right shape... hold 'em there for a few min and then dunk it in COLD water while holding the shape to cool it rapidly, that helps maintain the shape better

mine don't no... but it's because I messed 'em up to begin with... didn't do all the shaping and fitting quite right before I started. I think with some work they'd turn out okay tho.

been thinking about making a sort of backpack thing to replace the jet pack. think that would work on a scout. sort of like the snow troopers have.

lol yeah measured in parsecs as in distance not time! lol... my friends at work and I had a discussion about that the other day... talking about how exactly hyperspace works... it seems we all agree that it uses some sort of subspace route that makes the distance considerably shorter.

Re: Starting my first Mando today

lol yeah these guys are more nerds than star wars geeks... they just love the science behind it... even tho they say that travel in that form is "physically and scientifically impossible" they still had fun discussing it... we kinda figured out that Hyperspace exists in a seperate but near parallel dimension... one that we cannot see, but that links all portions of our own three dimensions, almost like a hidden seam or thread, and allows you to follow specific paths from point to point... which is why it takes sometimes dozens of jumps to go from point A to point B.... sorry about the nerd moment but it was a long... "boring conversation anyway" lol I shouldn't have got 'em started
