well you can heat, then bend, and while it is against the table in the shape you want, you can cool it with the H2O, dry and test fit, if not perfect, reheat form some more.
NO don't put it directly against ur body... use a thick, heavy sweater or sweatshirt... put it against the shirt and press it against urself to form it... u'll feel a lil bit of the heat, and you may get a lil red but it won't hurt u... much...lol jk u'll be fine. I suggest using the cold water dunk to help it keep its shape, that's what I did and it turned out great! however... u have to really heat it up and u have to hold it against urself until it starts cooling, then dunk it. The rapid cooling in the water makes it hold its new shape better and... it actually makes the plastic harder and less prone to warping! But... it has to be COLD water or it won't work.
Ok so this is what i understand i have to do. Heat it up with the heatgun (not sure how hot to heat it up to) Hold it up to myself until it starts to cool. Then Dunk it in cool water and hold it there
he he yeah u kinda have to form it to urself to get it shaped correctly... just use the heatgun and heat it until it feels softer when u try to bend it... then, hold it to yourself and allow it to start cooling, then dunk it in cold water... that's all there is to it. That is of course if using a heat gun.
Lev'ika, what Kal says is the best way to do it. Cept be careful with the dunking in the water; make sure the water is room temp or it can crystalise the plastic and make it really brittle and might cause it to shatter.
hmm... yeah hadn't thought about that... it depends mostly on the type of plastic and how much u let it air cool while forming. I'd say A'd'ika's proally right... forget COLD water, use room temp, it's probably safer that way
That's the key; what type of plastic. I've done it with PVC foam board (sintra) and polystyrine. Other than that, I have no idea, but I'd ASSUME all plastics will do it at some temperature or another. Better to be safe I think...:cheers
