Starting my first Mando today

I'd advise against cutting out the visor until you are complete. I know you want to try it out and all and it's a great feeling, BUT you lose stability and make the bucket prone to warping.

I'd concentrate more on getting the bucket shaped as nicely as possible, don't worry about the dinks so far, get the shape right first, then worry about nailing the detail and getting it smooth.

It takes a lot of patience, I know, going through what you went through with my cheek pieces, couldn't get them smooth for love nor money, but a systematic process is what you need.

I'll speak to Mr. Kyramud about posting his bondo lesson on the turtorial thread and see if he can expand it to sanding too.

DEFINITELY DO NOT CUT THE VISOR OUT UNTIL YOU ARE DONE, it WILL warp on you. I had to do a lot of repair work on my first bucket.

thanks vod :D ya sanding will be pretty soon

and as you can see from the pictures i did cut out the top part of the visor before bondoing :( and that did warp it a bit but im hoping after a bit of work i can fix it :D

Hmm, that visor warping thing needs to be in a tutorial, I'll speak to the Kyramud because I know he's working on one right now, so I'll see if I can get him to mention it.

Ya i dont think mine is too terrible but it would have been nice to know not too cut it out before i bondoed.

Good job on the tutorial thread btw vod (y)

Ta, hopefully it will get stickied once there is enough information for it to be useful.

Even a mando drawing tutorial would be cool. :)

*UPDATE*

im probably going in to the city tomorrow to get more bondo and other materials
Nerf gun to start my blaster and things like that :D

But i started making some claws (like adonian showed in his thread, thanks man!) but i ran out of glue sticks for the hot glue gun!! Ive literally spent an hour searching the entire hows looking for more!! I KNOW THERE IS A BAG OF LIKE 50 SOMEWHERE!!!!!!

i have a question i hope someone can answer

I am currently about 5'9 and need too know what size templates i need to print for the armor

Medium or Large?

Medium!!! I am 6'1" and large is still a *tad* large (those dang corners stick into your arms...) Go with medium, then modify to fit width needs. :)

Ok thanks!

Last night i found the glue sticks but the only hot glue gun i could find was a really old one. and as soon as i put the glue stick in it instantly melted and poured all over my thumb! so sketchs are going to be delayed a bit, im even having a hard time typing right now :(
