LoL, it's better than me! :D
heres the pic (sorry for the wait)

theres rough lines on it just to get the idea down
oh and i also got this sweet idea but im not sure if its even possible to do. For my right gaunt it will fire fletchets (it wont actually) but i thought that maybe i could get LEDs in the flettchet holes and somehow at the press of a button they will start lighting up to look like its fireing. In more of a circular motion if you know what i mean.
I did a real bad job explaining this so im sorry :lol
naw lev'ika I get it... you want it to light up in a rotating sequence to give the appearance that the gaunt cannons are firing. I LIKE IT!!! I think I'm going to rig mine up to actually fire nerf darts from the tri-shot, but if I can't I may go the LED route too.
got any ideas about how i may do this?
have you seen those motorcycle LED tail lights that rotate?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rotat...Q5fAccessories
I know it runs 12V, but I'm sure you can do it.
thanks
how big is that? i just looked at i quickly so i didnt get a good look
That a really cool idea. I'm planning on making my with a blade like an RC gaunt.
does any one know where to get a cheap jango or boba and what the paint would be to paint the helmet cuse i want to customize it
ou might want to post in these threads a bit and once you get acess to the cargo hold search there
do some searching on google and you should be able to find a cheapo jango for $30-80 (before shipping).
I've not got a lot either. We'll see how long it is before I get around to trying it and then how well it works but my plan is this:
I'll build a slide space under my gaunt for the blade to be stored in that will be much like the slide/bolt of the camber of semi-automatic rifle, so that my gaunt will have small bolt and a small tract on the side of it. The blade will either be pulled or pushed by a spring (I have yet to decide which I think will be easier) and will lock into both the extended and retracted positions.
I'll run a cable under the gaunt and into my glove anchored at my knuckle so that when I roll my hand forward/down (like you would when letting off the gas on a motorcycle) and force it till it almost hurts, the cable will be stretched out and pull the release for the bolt/blade.
After the blade/bolt springs forward it will lock in place. I'll have an external button on the gaunt, much like the lever-lock system on the back of most pocket knives, that will unlock the blade allowing me to pull the external bolt, and internal slide assembly, backward into the locked storage position.
Follow that? Any advice from Aden or others as to how well this slide system (I know others have tried it) works?
i beleive theres a tutorial on youtube on how to do it.
I have actually been thinking of making something very similar, actually, pretty much the same idea. I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out : )
Best of Luck!
Thanks, but it'll be awhile before I get around to making it!
YOU, I got that for ya'

haha! :D
Sweet! Adonian you rock!
Ok heres the dealio (always wanted to say that :lol)
Im going to pick up my jumpsuit before monday because on monday i have my aunt (she is extremely artist) helping me make my flak vest! Thank goodness because i would have had a hard time doing that myself :lol
Pics will go up when thats done
he he... I'm just going to buy an airsoft MOLLE vest and use that! lmao my last attempt at a homemade flak vest was... substandard...lol
oh and another thing i forgot to mention.
What do you guys think about my mando having a visor? A commander cody visor (like jasons)
Just curious to see if you guys think its a good or bad idea for my mando, speak truthfully now :lol
lol must be nice! I have to go on a little trip Sunday (4 weeks)... come Monday I'll be working in the cold and snow of the area north of Seattle, while the rest of my class is getting the day off at sunny Panama City Beach here in FL.
i forget, is that were you are moving?
no... TDY is Temporary Duty, PCS is Permenant Change of Station (moving). I have a 4 week TDY to Washington state starting Sunday, and I will be PCS moving to Oklahoma City, OK about 2 weeks after I get back from that.
oh ya! now i remember... have fun :lol see if you can get sent to Saskatoon next time :lol (if thats even possible)
what do you think about me adding a visor to my bucket? Yes or no?
I dunno lev'ika... depends on how you go about adding it in. IF you were to do it... might consider using red or tan for the color. I think the Cody visor is a cool attachment that doesn't get used enough. I also am a BIG fan of the macrobinocular... hence the reason my mando has it on his bucket.
i was considering using the macrobinocular but then i just saw the visor on Jasons bucket and fell in love with it! i really want to add it to mine! ya i would either use the tan or red but i cant really decide :lol
I think red would look cooler but theres so much red already
and i gotta pic up some spot filler. Without it i cant get to painting my bucket
hey I found a visor that was at one time attached to my Paintball mask... thinking about using it as the tope frame of my macrobinoc
smart idea!
btw you guys gotta watch this! I killed myself laughing and loved it at the same time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk5_OSsawz4&feature=fvhr
its star wars and also has another movies tune in it. Can you guess what it is? :lol
just realized theres more than one and it says at the top :lol but awesome none the less
ha ha that's awesome!!!
Wooooookie LOL
AH MAN LEVI, you pulled an Adonian didn't ya' :lol
Alpha: A visor would be interesting. I'm not a huge fan of them, but that's the beauty of custom Mando's it's all about what you like! And Nmoad showed me that video a week or so ago, it's amazing!
Kal: You re-color your picture?
why yes... yes I did... thanks for noticing! lol yeah Saber sometimes I suffer from the same syndrome that causes my bosses to change our uniforms every year or so
haha thats Kal for you! gotten to know that as one of your most interesting qualitys :lol kidding!
Man now that i think of it.... man Me Kal, Adonian, A'den, Jason are like pals over the internet! Sabers in there to, just not as close as five
It would be extremely awesome if we trooped together some time! (i can only wish)
Alpha: Visor would be cool, go for it!
The video...LoL, you did pull an adonian!
haha i couldnt help it! Its so funny!
haha! but ya trooping together would be awesome!
yup! I want to try to get my whole squad together to troop sometime after we all get our armor together... maybe one of the MAJOR cons or something
are considering all of us a squad or just the ones from your squad pic?
All of you guys are adults though :( my parents are very, and i say very protective!
but i could probably work it out. Definatly gotta meet at a con sometime
Maybe you guys could come to saskatoon :lol
Celebration V ner vod!!! :cheering THAT would be awesome!!!
And adults?!? lol. we are ALL kids at heart (or we wouldnt be a part of this website...:lol)
So true! When is Celebration V because i probably wont have most of my kit done until christmas (thats the deadline in my head)
But you guys do have access to vehicles and dont have parents denying you to go to anything
A'den your 18? I was thinking like 20 somethin.. Wow i feel more close to you than before :lol
Do you live on your own?
:lol:lol:lol
no, I live with my parents. :) They kindly let me destroy the garage in my armour making endevours...as long as the four walls and the roof are still on, it's all good. :lol
haha you are so lucky! they let you go to cons?
Actually, I've only been into this world of armour for a little over a year now, and the only con that I've been to was the Catcus Con here in AZ back in January; I've done several other mercs troops, but nothing major.
CV is on my list though..:D
Ive heard thats in Mexico or something like that... YIKES! Id have to save save save! And im broke from buying all the materials for my build :(
CV would be amazing to go to!
:lol:lol:lol
Right now, from what we've heard from master Lucas, it is either going to be in Chicago or in Florida. We are praying for Chicago...Florida in armour in July would be awful...
http://mercs.firespray.net/forum/index.php?board=118.0
My main source for CV related info. :D
saweet! Massive bonding moment here! :lol BTW vod how many kits have you made?
Dude, I am REALLY REALLY hoping for Chicago! It's way closer than Florida. Not to mention cooler, temperature wise.
We should all meet there! It would be insane!
I agree! Maybe I can get all my sci-fi buddies to go with me, and my family too! Ah, that'd be AWESOME!!!
We'd be the ultimate force in the unvierse! (sorry about the bad quote :lol)
LoL, whatever. But still! :lol
:lol Have to admit it would be tons of fun!
haha wow!
I will start doing that now!
Haha! You know the funny things is after looking at where all of you are listed as living the first place that popped into my mind as a middle-ground meeting place was Chicago! that would be really cool. I might could have my armor done by next summer...
Kal: I like the new color scheme. But as far as uniforms, the digital camo is not so much a favorite...I think it works great for dessert camo, but not as well is other colors/climates. What's your opinion?
yeah okay guys... so I guess I only have a few months to get several sets of armor together right? lol Actually lev'ika I was refering to the Direcats... but yes I'd love to troop with you guys too! I think CV would be a great opportunity for both, since Chicago is kinda centrally located for the direcats with 3 of us in Oklahoma, 2 in Ohio, 2 still in Kentucky (not sure where Shannyn's going to be stationed yet).
Ive actually started to save up (not very much yet because i only started yesterday :lol) but im planning on being there!
Transportation is still an issue though
Ok i have decided that i WILL use the visor! Im pretty pumped about this :D
Hoorah!!! :D :D :D
Ya Im thinking it will look really good!
Sorry Saber for the slow response... missed your question the first time around. IMO... it depends on the particular digital pattern in question. The Army's ACU pattern works well enough in the desert, and it's great in urban environments. I've been told by Army soldiers that during their exercises it works well enough in the wooded areas too. The USMC Marpat digies are made for specific environments, much like our older uniforms were. Theirs are far and above superior to anything else in the specific environment that it's intended for. The USAF ABU digitized tiger stripe pattern is another animal all together. Due to some issues early on in production, we have uniforms that are either more tan, more grey or more green. I've found that they pretty much all work well in urban environments (like flightlines and airbases) and work well enough in the desert. However, in my experience only my darker (greener) sets work even marginally well in the wooded areas, and they are actually more effective in the wooded areas than the Army uniforms (from what I've been told). That being said, for the majority of combat situations we face now... our ABUs help us blend in nicely in urban and desert environments and help us blend in when operating in conjunction with the Army, they are heavier and less comfortable than the older uniforms but are tougher and more functional.
I know that's a long answer... but u asked ner vod! lmao
Cody style :D
yup good choice, can't wait to see it! I'm going to use the sun visor (which I never wore) from my paintball mask as the top of my tactical visor, that way it will have a slightly irregular shape to it, makes it look cool, then I'll use cardboard to build the rest of the visor and I guess I'll try to glass or resin the thing. May have to send it to A'd'ika to get it glassed! lol jk
Lev'ika how r u going to make your visor?
Yay! Cody visor! :D
Lev'ika I can't wait to see the visor.
Kal'ika: I like long answers, details are (almost) always a good thing.
gonna look closer at the details Jason sent me and start it asap
you haven't made it yet ner vod?
:lol no i havnt even finished my bucket. I havnt had time to pick up spot filler. But this weekend i will be purchasing the flightsuit and making the Flak suit :D
vest ner vod, flak VEST! ;):D
whoops! total typo there :lol thanks for pointing that out :D
wow a flak suit, that's gonna be THICK :lol .... and HOT
no doubt lol
btw im almost done making the templates for my visor
Should be in the process of making it by later tonight
altho... theoretically...(lol uh oh, here comes Kal with his trivia again! lmao) according to my research (reading ALL of the RepCom books, all of the Legacy of the Force Books and countless hours on Wookiepedia) I have learned that typically speaking, Mando'ade wear a undersuit made of a ballistic weave. This material is lightweight and flexible like fabric and won't do much to stop projectle weapons, however... it does protect from fragmentation and energy based weapons by abosrbing and dissipating the energy across the entire suit, degrading the kinetic energy of the fragmentation or the beam of a blaster to an insignificant level.
good to know :D
lol sorry... suffering from know-it-all-itis...lmao
haha :D
heres pics of my progress
gonna bondo it when i get a chance
