Well guys, i hate to say this but im pretty much set on this. I am going to put my helmet away. I really dont like the way it turned out and im just going to start over.. maybe come back to it later and fix it up, maybe idk
Im just sad cause so much money went into this, and it turned out pretty junky in my mind. Anyways thank you guys for helping me along the way, and im sorry i couldnt show you guys something worth the time it took me

hey Lev'ika do me a favor... pop up a few pics of the bucket and let me have a look at it... I'm not real good at makin the things but I can usually tell what's wrong with it maybe help figure out how to fix it. To be honest... from what I see in the older pics, the buy'ce doesn't look all that bad ner vod.

dude from what I can tell from the earlier pics... all it really needs is some paint and a visor. I mean seriously, it doesn't look bad at all
theres no difference from the older pics. But im seriously tired of looking at it. Its just not proportioned well
hey it looks fine to me ner vod, once you paint it and get a visor in there it will look different to you, honest! lol I suggest you take one more shot at it... paint it up and let's see how it looks then, I think you'll like how it'll turn out with a few layers of paint on it.

I was always told in art class, if you're frustrated, walk away, get a cup of coffee and walk back refreshed, you usually spot immediately what you have to do.
Pop a coat of primer on your bucket as the grey really helps you to spot the imperfections, or realise that something looks good.
Remember, it took me nearly a year to perfect the mold for my helmet castings, so it's not a question of getting it right first time.
It should be a labour of love though, so if it's getting to you, give it a break and come back, you'll probably get more done that way :)

passed all my classes! im so happy! lol the new semester is a fresh start, but the math is already stressing me out :/ oh well. I finally pulled out the helmet yesterday and still wasnt very happy with it. Im just gonna paint it and see how it goes

i still need to dirty it up and get the tan on there. It looks decent when its by itself but once i put it on it looks terrible.. i guess this one was just a good learning experience. I really need to use cardstock instead of plain paper next time!

thanks... I have the killstripes on now with only a small ammount of difficulty. I know I'm going to have a hard time with the jaig eyes.. Not sure what a a good way to do it is, any ideas?

oh, and would a dark stain be a good way to go to add a little bit of a dirtier look to it? if not what are some other ideas?
you could use charcole (?SP) pencil and sand it into a little pile and rub the dust into cracks and crevases (?SP)
You can also use shoe polish and rub it on and wipe it off, it'll fill the little imperfections nicely and give it a carbon burn look.
Hey Lev'ika for the Jaing Eyes you may want to print them off, cut out a stencil and use that ner vod
that is what I was going to do but I dong know how to keep paint from seeping underneath the stencil :/ and thank for the idea adonian :D

To understand it a little its basically my mando walking into the distance with a death watch helmet up close. Not sure quite how to explain...i guess u guys will just have to wait ;)

Walmart or sporting goods stores... look for the Krylon Ultra Flat Camo colors, they have a really good sand tan paint that actually looks good when it's sprayed on.
Krylon Khaki is another good one...walmart carries that colour. :thumbsup

Hey, I'd be proud of that; I wanted to make my own custom helmet, but caved and spraypainted a one-piece Jango helmet (Which, I might add, is several years old, and barely fits). As it stands, I'm waiting on it to dry tonight, but I should probably just sleep and begin work again tomorrow. Speaking of helmets, anyone know a good helmet I could buy from somewhere? The local Wal-Mart yielded no luck, and I'm looking into a welding cap from Lowe's if possible, but still...

anyways ive got paint basiclly finished, i just need another coat on the back and im still trying to figure out a cheap way to make a rangefinder.. any suggestions?

Rangefinder stalk: scrap cardboard build, resin dip (X2), bondo coat. do the resin dip half at a time so it can dry &c. That's the cheapest way to do it. Otherwise you can get some scrap aluminum and cut it out of that, works really well, that's what I use.
Rangefinder cap: use the WOF temps, posterboard build (tape on outside), fill with bondo, let it dry and then peal posterboard off leaving just a bondo centre. :)
