"Clayton Carmando"

The idea came when we noted that some befriended Groups started Their projects for SWTOR based costume.
Like a Full Havoc-Squad and Sith Acolytes from the Trailers. So - why not make something mandalorian either?

We made a little Squad of mandalorian Armor based on SWTOR
Especialy these guys

The Reason why we choosed this Armor particulary had the reason to get recognized for empire and republic gamers aswell. You cant play the game 10 minutes without stepping over one of those Blue T-visored Dudes. No matter if he is just a NPC, a Questgiver or an enemy Mob. A random bounty hunter squad would be too much.
Also - Bioware/EA still does not make this Armor wearable for players... so thats why!

As Material there were no other choice then aluminum so we had to dismantle the whole thing.
to make it possible to assemble the set without the use of a weldingtorch

(sketches by Tomoe Harada)

For the Source and References we took the lowpoly ingame modell aswell as the Shae Vizla statue, Actionfigure and Renders from the Trailer cause her armor has the same 3D modell ingame - so infact we made just a lesser detailed shae vizla to avoid the comic-style proportions of the game engine

next step Papermodel

We hade several Vode on this project with diffrent sizes (ranging form 165-190cm) instead of one size that fits all - we just scaled several sizes to fit everyone (thats the luxus whe using cutted plates instead of resin form casting). The Idea was that everyone just get the lasercutted Metalplates and form them on his/her own.

Next Step: lasercutting!

For the Jetpack:
the same like the Armor.
analise the model, make a papermodel and metalize it ^^

The Belt was made out of 3mm thick real Leather that got tinted black and blue
The buckle is out of aluminum paltes of course - tucked together with some reused military issue beltclips

For the Helmet:
Making it out of Metal was then too big because of the round shapes. No one did the helmet so far so o chooesd to make it myself.
I never casted a helmet and i'm sort of heavy handed so that was the first time i tried to put in some details.

After making 3 molds ( the first 2 sucked and made wobbly casts) i think i learned enough ^^ The Bad think is. I used my head as areference for the Model so it is very very small inside. Mostly because the Form of the Modell is intended to be tighter at the Helmet openingfor this bole shape.

But hey, atleast i can now cast helmets on my own.

That's bad ***. Do you play the game? I was thinking of starting since they switched it to free to play.

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

Hit me up bro I play...on and off im a co GM/Council in a guild on Jedi Covenant...lotta players...slowed down a bunch....but its fun...

I like it...think you need more pinch in the visor i think to be more accurate to the model but yours looks better...I like the hellfire helmet alot

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

Awesome armor! If I remember correctly, is this the armor those Mandos wear on DK you run into during the Cult of Revan mission chain (Empire side)?

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

They are pretty much everywhere. On Spaceport on Nal Hutta is the first one you'll see (depending on class). On Vaiken the two trainers for the extended-Class wear it - without helmet. The Warmaster on Vaikens entry wears the same but with golden textures. Dromund Kaas: The Revanites, the Guards in the Mandalorian Enclave aswell as enemy in the "Personal Challenge" H2 quest (aswell in the Cave in the South when following the BH-Story).
Another Enklave sets on Tatooine as friendly NPCs and questgivers aswell as enemys in the north - in the later planetquests. From them they get fewer and fewer and hang around in small Groups on Cantinas or Spaceports On the higher Tier-worlds they begin to carry diffrent bounty hunter armor (like in the Flashpoints).

On Republic Side you'll get to see the Blue-boys the first time on Taris as H2+ Mobgroup. Then on Tatooine es Enemys aswell. I didnt played a whole Republic Charackter but i bet they appear more and more threwout the game.

But atleast they are individualised. They may have the Same Colorcoded armor. But everyone has a diffrent Amount of Plates. Either with basic shoulders or extended shoulders, With Bicepplates or without, Jetpack or not, Thicker Shinguards and Knees - or not, Helmet1, helmet with those cheek and thicker forehead, no helmet, Basic Gaunts or lvl30 Gaunts ^^, Some even have no gloves at all ^^

What bothers me. Before the Game Release in 2012 Bioware showed the Preview Video of the Infinity-Vault were one of the BH players carries exactly the same Armor. - BUT you are not able eben after 18 Months to get this Armor for your Charackter. Not as Social Gear not as Standard-Armor. Aslong as they dont introduce some decent Mandalorian Armor (no mater if Cartel or not) i dont go back to the game. XD

Hey F4R, I am also on Jedi Covenant with my five lvl 55's although I am taking a little summer break to work on my ESB Boba.

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

Fantastic build. love the whole thing. I made a similar helmet last year. Yours looks great.

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

i added some pictures and fixed some broken links

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

So, though i was not very satisfied with the first scratchbuild helmet (and though it was a bit too small for most man) I got a 3D printed one.

I gonna have alot of work to do before molding it... so its more a project for the summer.

Just kidding around Brother:) Amazzzzzing work! Great job! goes out to you and your buddies. Standing next to other Mando’s, you really made them look silly.

Re: Star Wars: The old Republic - Mandalorian Retro-Crusader [imageheavy]

why didn't I put in a four-frontal view in the first place?

Atleast the Armor will be avaibale for Players with the next Update....

although i find "retro Crusader" more fitting then "hunter Armor" ^^
