Spanner Murraan Mark II Pic Intensive

Spanner Murraan

New Hunter
Hey all

Some of you may have seen my first Mando attempt. It is my Mandalorian Combat mechanic, Aaray "Spanner" Murraan. This is the kit I used and have trooped it as part of the Mandalorian Mercs Costuming Club, and as Alor'ad of the Murraan Clan.

Well today I started on "Spanner Murraan Mark II - Bigger, beefier, burlier! I used my own Stencils and I am doing sort of a Modern Era/Legacy Era hybrid for this build.

I Started with 6" PVC pipe and traced the stencils on. I did A rough cut and then final cut.

I used a heat gun and another scrap piece of PVC as a buck to smooth and shape the breast plate. I also traced the design of the chest insignia.

I used a dremel to cut reliefs in to denote the shapes of gorget and individual armor plates. I also used the dremel to carve out the Cog shape a bit and to bevel the edges of the plate. I have a real steel cog that I will be inlaying in the chest then carving a reeks head into the center (Murraan Clan sigil)

This will be a long time work in Progress, hoping to have it completed by Wizard World Austin in November. More to come. Thanks for looking.

Nice Misfits Tat..But on to more important things. **** that looks good.I've made a whole set of upper torso armor out of PVC and continually make gaunts out of two inch. Very versatile. It's just a pain to heat and shape. Hats off to ya.Can't wait to see more.

Here is the Finished breast plate and start to the new shoulders. Work on this has been slow, as I dont have a work space of my own, and relying on the generosity of other people for their garage. lol

The silver was done with Rub-n-Buff. I painted the raw PVC first, masking damage off with toothpaste. After all the paint was done, I cleaned up the toothpaste, leaving only primer undernieth. At that point, I had green damage. I masked off AROUND the edges of the damaged parts with Ben Nye liquid latex. Once the latex was dry, I added the RNB with my fingers and buffed to a high shine. After the masked off portion was done, I free-handed a little more RNB for worn damage (as opposed to chipped). Then it was a matter of just using some artists charcoal to do the carbon scoring and grime. I put a dull coat over the entire thing.

Just want to bump this back up to let you all know that I have done a lot more work recently, and will be posting some progress pics as soon as I can get a hold of a working camera.

here is the completed chest/ab plate. What do you guys think?

Again, this is more of a Legacy style build, but ultimately, it will be a hybrid of legacy and Modern.

That looks awesome dude. Can't wait to see it finished. Just throwing my 2 cents in, and maybe you already thought about this stuff but what about bicep and thigh armor? I think your design would look a little better with it.

Actually, I had thought about it. But my Character is a combat mechanic and sabatour, so I thought those spaces would be best reserved for tool pouches, and weapon holsters and such. Plus it would help with mobility and such... blah blah. They look bare in the drawing, but I actually have a lot planned for those areas
