Sorry about all the questions

Female Fett

I thought I got my one big question out of the way, but looks like I forgot about something.

I've tried looking around online, but I'm having trouble finding any information about the Jumpsuits. My question is whether anyone knows if there are any patterns around for making Jango's jumpsuit? I'm attempting to make a custom mando and I'm wanting to have the leg armor so I need a pattern or something to follow when sewing the jumpsuit. If I can't find anything I may try and order one from a vendor if anyone knows of any. My apologies again for all the questions, I promise I'm going through with my costume so your answers are not in vain!

I don't exactly need the vest part that rests under the chest armor because I'm doing a female mando and I want the armor to have sort of a form fit to it, but if there are any suggestions in reguards to that, let me know :).

Dickies makes a nice full coverall, only problem is that the crotch is low because they expect you to wear them over every day clothes. Dickies makes a thinner jumpsuit that's made for you to wear just that, but it's sleeveless. You could buy two, cut the sleeves off one, and sew them onto the other, that way you would get the double-sleeve that Boba has.

Army/Navy flightsuits make awesome custom mando jumpsuits! :) also Dickies make good ones too.

These jumpsuits sound like a good idea, I might get one and chop it up a bit, but I'm also considering looking for something a bit more form fitting now that I think about it because while I want a badass looking Mando chick I also want it to be clear that it's a female under there. I'm begining to think that the fabrics on the jumpsuits might be a bit too thick or big. I might just have to search high and low again for a jumpsuit pattern so that I can use whatever fabric would work best for my girlishness lol.

I'm 5'6'' and at a slightly smaller than average build so the flight suits even in their smallest sizes might be too big for me.

Hi, I just got a flightsuit, my major problem was getting a good colour...I hadf to settle for the useual olive green in the end but have a look on my thread, mI am in my jumpsuit on that. I am around 5'9-10'' so it is a bit short, but it fits really well. I had to get it off a guy from ebay but fits really well. Ive seen ambulance and medic jumpsutis on a website too, but it was too expensive for me to ship them over but some of them
are made for women. Have a look at these two, the firstone is a uk company but they are made especially for women, the second one is based in the US but they might be a bit too pricy for you. I know what you mean about wanting to look like a woman though!!

Hope these help,

Something you may wanna think about also is having a seamstress make you a custom jumpsuit. The reason I say this is because you ladies go to the bathroom a little different then the dudes...and when you need to get them off, it's not fun to have to completely de-armor.

Here's a post on the Mercs boards about one of our female mando's who is making a 2 piece flightsuit...and it's looking awesome. Yes, it may be a bit more to have something custom made. However, we're talking about something you want to enjoy having on...not something your ready to pull off after an hour. =)

This looks great, I would consider doing this, for the quality and ease factors!(y)

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm checking everything out to see what's in my price range and what has the best look. I'm even considering looking at a slightly more snug bodysuit/bodyglove that zips up in the front and making a flack vest that can zip up at the side while using a velcro attatchment to cover up the zipper so that everything looks like one soild piece with all the armor parts on, but is actually fairly easy to remove.

The reason why I'm considering a bodysuit/bodyglove is because of the fact that I can get it one size bigger than what I need, making it tight fitting, but not skin tight when made out of a slightly thicker material. Plus I intend to use the money I save by making my own armor pieces out of sintra to bulk up the customized soft parts to keep my costume looking snug, but not bare.

I'm currently working on the costume designs and I'll get all of those posted up in a new thread when I start making some more progress!

Hey there Female_Fett,

I'm in your city, too! Cool! We should talk shop. I also have these project nights once a month for the locals, we get together and make costumes and pouches and leather belts and whatever needed repairs.

I just got pointed to Seattle Fabrics, and they have a DK pattern for a bodysuit on there that would work great for a basic women's flightsuit pattern. It's only 8 bucks, too.

Awesome! I defeniately will check that out and once I start actually getting my materials built up I would totally be up for that!

Something like this: http://www.skichalet.com/Nils_Vanity_Cat_Suit_p/0009061648226.htm is what i was speaking of when mentioning the bodysuit, there are ones for a much cheaper price, some being only $20 bucks!

The only issue with this is that these suits usually only come in one of three colors: Black, Nude, and White :(

Also, I've seen that there appear to be issues with making the female chest pieces out of sintra. Is it really hard to do so? I would think it would be possibe, but I've seen in a couple of the pages that some claim it's difficult. I'm not exactly small, but I'm not uber large or anything either.

I'm a tad concerned considering the fact that I've noticed that the chest armor that has the breasts sticking too far out looks odd from the front. Is there any way to keep it well balanced while maintaining a close fit?

I'm both really busty and high-busted, so I had no choice but to custom build my armor. I'm doing mine from flat Sintra. What I've got so far is formed and glued, haven't got the bondo on yet (I'm using just enough to smooth and properly shape the plates).

Anyway, my fitting process and the formed (no pics of the glued plates) boob plates are in this post.

Hope it helps you some :)
