very cool!!!!!! love the display and d-pad on your guantlet!! can you play Minesweeper?![]()
depends on which part youre talking about , i had the armour done for a hole year before i found a vest that would work , didn't want a Jango or Boba one (and as i have asthma my weight fluctuates abit , so needed one that could be altered at the sides )so got a British Army issue flak jacket cover got the neck line alterd so i could wear it backwards it already had adjustable sides then i had to find someone with a sewing machine to sew on the velcro , then i had o find the right colour boiler suit , the get the belt kit to work the way i wanted it , my bucket was too small and the back wasn't cast properly so i cut it in 2 from left to right seperated it about 2cm and applied mesh and bondo then rebuilt the back with sintra , then if yu count all the side projects like the blasters and binoculars (farmboy glasses , different area of the board),trophies, the drop leg pouches and the over the shoulder strap (will have a houlster eventually) all in all about 3 years.
Don't get put off by the time it has taken me , i could take you less time depends on you're dedication to you're costume .
remember this rule . quick , accurate , cheap you will only get 2 of these
if you want it quick and cheap then don't expect it to be accurate
if you want it cheap and accurate then it won't be quick
if you want it accurate and quick it won't be cheap
you get the idea
Don't get put off by the amount of time
what did you make your gauntlets shell from? i wanna go scratchbuilt like the rest of my armor but its notoriously difficult to get the top and bottom shell to match up. any pointers?
Thats one awsome BFG!!!! And I love the XM8 flamethrower. Well realy....I like all the stuff!![]()
it's a bit of trial and error really . i started by forming sintra round my arm a piece on the bottom (forming a u shape with my arm sitting in it ) then another from the top ( forming an upside down u shape from the top of my arm) it'll be trial and error to find the right size so make sure both pieces are a bit big so you can trim back . trim them so one fits inside the other ( you may need to heat the pieces for this )once they fit try it on you're arm , and continue till it fits , top over bottom ( remember to make allowance for your flight suit so form with it round you're arm while wearing youre suit or long sleved jumper (remember it will be hot )) , once it does and you're happy with it , while it's on draw a line on the bottom where the top neets it (just run a pen or pencil along the top edge)
from there it should be plain sailing , just add what you want . i added more sintra to box out the top .
when sintra is heated you can push shapes onto it and it will when cold retain the shape as if recessed in it , just a tip
the BFG and the flamer still arn't finished yet
*note to self , remember not to have too many projects at once*
**extra note to self , must start a project to built somthing to remember all my other started projects**
thanks again for the comments guys
The BFG is sweet - can't wait to see it finished![]()
wow, simply wow. The arm gauntlets gave me ideas. I think I will wire my cell phone into one. (an extra one and just transfer the sim card) Then on the other a cheap MP3 player, like a 512 mb or 1 gig, and some tiny speakers in the head piece. Something to listen to when people start talking about how much better their costume is than mine. Really, i hate people who put other down by bragging about the money spent on their costumes. =(
glad to hear i can inspire people , you might want to check out the Mandalorian Mercs Costuming club , www.firespray.net
Yea, I have that site on me favorites. But I don't really want to sign up there, I'm going to dedicate myself to this forum for now.
YOU ARE INSPIRING!Do you have a template for your arm guantlets? IF not, could you take some pictures of them and give me some dimensions of the total length, width, ect. They are really really really cool looking. I'm in love with your right arm 3 hole blaster thing.
i will try and have some dimensions for you this weekend , the 3 barrel blaster was fairly easy to build once you get the clam shell done
