no its a 6' katana. she doesnt use it in costume...just for that picture.

well we decided that we didint like the thigh plates, so i built a more traditional set. here a comparason, and the set. ran out of white paint, or they'd be finished by now.

I should realy say something about this, but I'd like to have my membership still later on. You both look amazing!

Armor is coming out nice! Using metal puts a realism to it.
BTW Jodo you resemble the late Heath Ledger(a great talent lost) in that last pic.

XLNT work, I am looking for reference pics for my wife's Mando armor, have you got any more, you guys look great. I admit I'm a noob, but I am gonna start on mine and my wife's armor soon.

i had an idea for an armor design and its kinda similar to how you have the red stripes going down the side would you mind if i still used the idea? if you don't want me to thats fine just figured i asked first

How does everyone make these vests? I am going to have to search the forums for the thread that started it all. Anyways, it looks AWESOME. My only problem is that I can actually tell that the arm guards are shin guards. xD You might want to detail them up a bit more or changed them out for guants made of something else. And some of your pictures aren't working for me. =( I love the suit though, great work. ^^

Alright, I have a few questions in regards to the use of so much metal in your costume.. :P

How much heavier/lighter is your metal mando armor as opposed to the typical ABS-esque material? Do you find you get tired more easily as the troop carries on? How is it affecting your mobility as opposed to non-metal?

i have no frame of reference to plastic armor. i only feel it gets hot due to all the leather, and layers that there are. I've stood in 110+ heat and its pretty much the same as 80 degree heat. mobility shouldn't be effected at all. metal or plastic the plates would be the same size.

here's your answer from Shado:
metal doesn't affect me, the belt makes it so i cant bend at the waist as well. the vest makes me hot, but its not the metal, the everything else, the boots, multiple layers, but i dont get really really tired.

does that answer your questions?

also fixed a horrible issue with the industrial Velcro during that shoot. ill never use it again. in Arizona. gonna use "other" methods for more securely attaching the plates to the ballistic pads from now on.

That looks awesome. If she is going to keep the thigh armor, she needs some knees to match. Don't want some random Jedi kicking you there. If you guys have ditched them (like some of the pics look like you have), then don't worry about it.

Amazing that both of you guys have armor that is...well...armored!

she has knees and a cod piece. limited mobility, so we literally cut it off last year at comic con before we hit the floor.

My fiance, who really is the real Star Wars fan of the two of us, is working on armour of his own and, once he finishes with his, will start on mine. I'm trying to learn more of the Star Wars realm mostly so I can understand where he's coming from in some of his humour or when he's with his guys, but I've got miles of books ahead of me to catch up to him in knowledge. I'm curious about the armour, though. How long did it take to make your girl's armour? Is lose clothing typical of the armour or did you use it simply for mobility's sake?

I was. At least in the first few photos it looks a bit loose, but then the last few it's a much tighter fit (as far as I can see in any of them).

haha! Yeah... my fiance was talking about the female armour and trying to be delicate about it, but I'm just not sure there's a way to be.

its steel.
the first shirt was a black turtle neck, now its a US navy winter dress shirt.

there are no boob holes, as you call them.

the plates are just hammered out that way.

That black police armor would be bad @$$. I'd love to get in on that after my other set of mando armor is complete. But instead of tossing the old armor why don't you try and sell it on ebay or something. You can probally get a good asking price for that armor even if it is of a different style.

heh just noticed Zangetsu in that one pic!! must say it looks darn good with the armor B^) even if it is a Zanpakuto instead of a vibrob Sword B^)
love the color choices too, also really like the 3 stripes on the helmet!

You know, if you through that armour away, it will probably make a lot o' people cry lad, many mando fans in the world still need mando armour, etc.

I agree, this is all way too good to just throw away! If you insist on getting rid of it, why not seel it/give it away to some of your fellow mandos? I personally wouldn't mind having an extra set. n.n
