Scratch Build Mando Costume

you mean the teal, black and gray? sure, not like i can claim those colors and i am not doing the eye part on the mask any more. Glad you like it.

need some advice. I want to put an intercom/speaker with mic in my bucket. But i dont know where to place it, i am thinking about cutting a vent in the bucket but dont know if i have to. Little help? Anyone know of others with a com system and how they mounted it in the bucket, links would be great. I am almost to the paint stage and need to know if there are more structural things to do before i lay down paint. Also i have tons of pictures and made an boat load of progress but my now ex had the camera with all the pics. Just got them back and will get them up when i have more time.

I'd say don't mount it in the bucker, get an earpiece boom mic as you'll have issues with wires when putting your helmet on.

If you insist though, there are many motocycle helmet kit mics you can buy, but you need to know the specific make of radio.

If you are doing it for a speaker, most systems come with their own microphone anyway and they are over the head jobs.

I am thinking that the bucket it a bad place for it... where else to mount it? in the armor? and i have found a few ear/mic sets but any you world recomend?

I have my speaker in one of my belt pouches, this particular model had a boom mic with it that fitted over my head, I just have the wires under my neck seal and my vest and plug into the box at the belt pouch, not saying that is the best idea, just the way I did it.

A lot of Stormtrooper fan sites have speaker boxes, so you could try that, or try the trading stations here and on the mandalorian Mercs site.

hmm... not a bad idea. Ne one else? what have you done/ seen? also which com systems have you seen and used? Also, havent finished mine just yet so i dont know, how hard is it to hear people with the helmet on?

So as i have said i have been busy on this! This was the last bit of bondo added to fix the major issues, around the base of the dome there were spots where the paper overlapped and i sanded through so i cut those out and filled them in. The cheek had some issues as well.

This was when it hit me, my ears can't lay flat against a curved surface. Troubleshooting will come.

Here are a few more shots as i got the bondo sanded down.

I also found the spacing for the visor from one side to the other were off. Easy fix later.

So first i had to decide how to mount the ear pieces to the bucket. and the bolting method seems to make sense.241.JPG

So i marked/traced where it was to go and

With a Dremel... cut it out... a bit too deep

So I used paper to level the ear out,

once i got it close i tightened up the bolts and

Not too bad, the catch is that i would then mask off the plexy glass, on the sides of the ear and then put bondo in around it. This made the bolts obsolete, so now i have bolts sticking into my bucket that i will just grind off. Meh.

Time to fire them up! Yay!

And now that i am posting these... i see at this stage what i would notice later in this pic you can tell the bottom LEDs have gone out in comparison to the top pics bottom LEDs... this is a huge problem, pain to fix.

Thats all for now, still have tons more to get you all caught up but that is for another day. Please post feed back and comments, also still open for ideas about the comm system and where to mount the speaker, also is it hard to hear others with the bucket on?
