Runt's Custom Bucket

Hey guys. First post here, been lurking on the forums for a while, seen some interesting stuff. Finally got around to registering, and finally got around to making some stuff.

So yeah, this is what I've got so far. Not so much cheaping out here, what with the cardboard... but I had it around, and it's nice to work with. Yes, I know, you can see the Shreddies picture on the cheek. My Mando happens to like his healthy breakfast :D (And yes - I used the WoF templates. Handy, they is.)

Thats after I covered the helmet... I'm using something called "plastic wood", a sort of filler, had it around the house. It's handy :p

Back view of the same thing... you can see that it's kinda warped on the back, which I suppose is a direct result of using cereal boxes as building supplies... :angry Either way, I think I'll reinforce that with something a bit stronger... bit of coat hanger wire maybe.

Thats right after sanding. It surprises me... by looking like a helmet! Go figure. I'm thinking I'll put another layer on there, mainly on the face. That way I can cut into it, make it 'pop out' a bit more around the visor (which I don't have atm. I'll take a looksee at the Hardware store, see if they don't have anything that'll work.). Talking to my brother, thinking might make up a vacuforming table sometime (his job has to do with that kinda thing, he'd be a great one to help 8) ) to make some nicer stuff, bit less delicate too... either way, I'm working on this for now. Who knows, maybe it'll turn into a full set of armour sometime. One thing at a time.

Yeah, I think this stuff would crack too easily. I'm thinking I'd have to carve up a new blank from pink styrofoam, which wouldn't be too bad.

Well, got started on my table... working out pretty good atm. All I need to do now is to put a slab of pegboard on the top, and start forming! Well, I still need to make up a proper blank to form off of... currently, it's a foot cube of pink styrofoam :D I'll get carving on that one tommorow... brother should be bringing home some plastic this weekend, so I should be able to start building! :cheers

*edit - stupid me. The pic :p

what i did for my armour was used a good solid plastic bin from wal-mart that was approx 3' tall and pretty sturdy, youd want to use some type of power tool to cut out the pieces you need cuz i used tin snips and got a couple blisters :(. if you want any more information about what i used or how i did it just pm me, id be happy to help a vod out!

Yeah, I considered doing that, but making the helmet would still pose a problem that way. I know I could go with the cardboard and putty unit I started, or even with a plastic sign helmet, but it would just bug me... I figured if I was gonna make the helmet this way, might as well make the rest of the armour the same, right? (Course, modifying sports armour could look sweet too... you built off of hockey pads, right? Might have to think about that one...)

After you get done with your table, you can come over and help me with mine! :p ;) It all looks wonderfull mate! :)

Well, came up with a design or two... but not sure what to go for... the helmet design is the biggy. What do you think?
