Jaastermareel
New Hunter
Hi all,
please excuse my english, im from germany
I want to share my Republic Commando - Project with you, so people, wo like to build a RC armour theirselfs, have something to start with. and also id like to get some feedback, wich is never bad.
I started to take pictures a bit late. so i only upload one picture by now, wich displays everything relatively good. but iam going to explain what i did so far.
i started with a Life size puppet, covered it in plastic foil, and sprayed a layer of PU-filler on it.
then i cutted this PU-filler (wich works great) with a knife.
I did that untill it looked almost like the "real" armour parts.
(used lots of reference photos)
If you take a closer look to the puppets arm. there is only the Gauntlet piece left, i already removed the upper arm with two cutts at the sides, glued them together again and covered this with plaster. then sanding it till it has an even surface.
(i will upload some pictures of that shortly)
i also went on with the breastplate, i cutted out some more detail with my knife and sprayed some more PU-filler on areas like the "arm hole", cause it didnt look right.
The plan is, to create positive models, of the armour parts, with this technique. Then to make silicon and glassfiber molds out of that, and then to cast the actual armour with that.
The only thing, that is complicating, is the Helmet.
(it always is, isnt it?)
The Helmet is out of PU-filler too, covered with plastelline, i thought, this might work good... but iam not sure anymore. maybe i start it over...
If you have some patterns or templates or anything i could use, or maybe some instructions, how you are doing completely new helmets, i would be glad, you could share them with me.
... i was cleaning my workshop when i thook the photos, so i put the parts out of it. so the background is just my basement, please dont bother.
and... no i didnt cut off the puppets head to make the helmet.
