Do as the Republic Commandos do, use tinted film. I think I've seen some pretty bright red film too, but I can't remember where.

You should be able to pick up some coloured acetate from art and craft shops. I'm not talking about the paper thin stuff. This stuff is about 0.5mm and is substancial enough to do the job. If you're still unsure when you track it down, then you can always double up. It's easy enough to see out of and folks looking at you wont see your face.

You may also try a motorcycle shop or the like for visors.

for not seeing your face... how about a mirrored visor (motorcycle helmet?) with red acetate over it?

easier solution is to get a red mirrored welding shield. usually betweeen 8 and 12 dollars.

I find welding shields to be too thin. The visor stabilises the helmet.
