RC Helment - Help Needed!

Delta7

New Hunter
Ok…I got this RC bucket off ebay. It took three weeks to get here and last night it came. When I opened the box, I noticed a small crack at the back of the helmet.

This is my first bucket so I was wandering if anyone could give me some tips on how to fix it.

Delta7 over and out

According to the seller: "The Helmet is made out of a new polymer rubber plastic- gauge .125 . The new polymer rubber plastic sheets I am using are glossy with more rubber than the ordinary polystyrene. The plastic has more of a feel like ABS plastic."

Looks like vacu-formed styrene. Any solvent-based cement on the crack, and some tape to hold it, will do. Once that has set, take a small piece of styrene and heat it up in your (325 deg) oven, brush some solvent inside the helmet, around the area of the break, and press in the hot plastic over the crack. that will fix it.

That is how I fix my TK armour when it cracks.

My suggestion is to get the glue similar to 'model glue' from the hobby shop, wall mart or someplace. it will weld the plastic. I also suggest backing it with more styrene. if you have eye sockets or pieces that need to be cut out, cut one out, and use it to back the crack at the lip, a nd the end of the crack.
