Hey folks,

Hope its cool to say a quick hello - my name is Dave and I live in Ireland. Im totally new to ALL this - discovered props completely by accident as there was a Cylon helmet on ebay so I did some backtracking which led me here ;).

Im a 33yo mature college student (long story) and a BSG / SW fan since the 70s... Just ordered a Cylon helmet from the WONDERFUL sarge and Im chomping at the bit to get going - Im off to the hardware store in the morning to get a Dremmel, sandpaper and Chrome spray-paint!

Im into making electro and guitar music and Ive a funny feeling that helmet collecting/building is going to become yet another obsession! ;)

Just wanted to say a quick hello to you all! Hope this is ok!

Dave

*Blush*

Thanks for the warm welcome folks! Some Uni work kept me offline for a bit but I'd hate y'all to think I was not interested! (I must have set my preferences wrong - do you get a notification when someone replies to a thread your watching/started???)

The, ahem 'plan' is to have a complete Stormtrooper costume and a bucket collection (I really don't get the Burger King tho  ) - when I see what you good folks have done - well its VERY inspiring!

I'd be worried about a Cylon costume TBH - I'm like 5' 5 - 5' 6 ish and those guys always seemed so HUGE and imposing! Ordered Sgt. Fangs Cylon last week and its a bank holiday weekend here so I guess next week sometime I can get started...

Looks like I've come to the right place for my addictive personality then :)

So once again, thanks a MILLION for the warm welcome. I'm very much a newbie and very encouraged! Time to read through the back posts and pick-up some info - and see who y'all mad characters are!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

Dave

You like Starwars and Battlestar??

I think we're going to be best friends.:p

Welcome to the club.

...And no I don't think you can customize your settings to alert your email.

Hey suspect86!

Yep indeed :) 70's Battlestar rox! So much so that I was so worried about the new series, I avoided it until my SciFi lit class in Uni required me to watch it!

And Buck Rogers, Space 1999, Battle of the Planets - basically anything from 1974 -> today... Ha ha! A HUGE Tron fan also!!! I remember asking Santa for a Tron suit when I was 10, my poor parents had some job talking me out of it!!!

Anyone remember Automan and Manamal??? :)

Cheers!

Dave

:cheers

Cheers again folks! Just waiting on my Sgt. Fang Cylon to arrive and Im up and running... with the dollar at the moment his prices are insanely small!

Perhaps Im getting ahead of myself but has anyone any experience with the Hyperdyne Labs kits please? Ideally I'd like my cylon to have sweeping leds with synchronized sound 'warble' effect... the CyloGuardian Light and Sound Board looks perfect but it costs a bit...

Anyway, thanks again folks! I'll keep y'all updated!

Dave

You could always make the noise yourself. Like in my Kast helmet, I say "Check this out, I've got a working range finder" into which I make it go up and down manualy, and make the noise "Weeeeeeerrrrr" Always impresses evryone.
