Ok, so I have some rough (emphasis on the *rough* part) plans for the making of beskar'gam sometime in the future, but as I can't really join any group, or do anything productive with it until I'm 18, there's really no hurry. Anyway, all that aside, I am a girl, and I have seen numerous examples of female armor, but I personally don't want the 'cupped' (or whatever is the technical term for it) chest plates. Is it possible for a girl to wear the male style chest plates? Has anyone done it? Please give your thoughts on the matter. Vor'e anade.

I know crazy4bobafett on here has done an ESB boba that doesn't hint at all (to me) to her being a female costumer. Here's a thread of her work.

If you don't want to make feminine-style armor there's nothing at all wrong with that, your armor should be your own. The only issue that you may encounter with traditional chest plates is that if you have large breasts the vest will hang down in the waist (if not tailored properly) at the same width as the chest, making you appear a bit "rounder" than you are. The language of your post seems as if you are wanting to create a custom Mando rather than a Boba or Jango. If that is so you should definitely check out the Mandalorian Mercs at Mandalorian Mercs, the Elite Mandalorian Costume Club as they will be the best resource for building custom armor.

There is quite a few female members including Gonzo Fett, Crazy4Boba Fettwho, among others who have used the "original" style of chest armor. If that is the look and style you want then I saw go for it!

You may also want to check out the character Bo-Katan and look at her upper chest pieces. They are obviously cup like but still retain a feminine appearance.

that makes a lot of sense, thanks. :) I am what one might call 'full-figured' but I do a little sewing, so tailoring the vest shouldn't be too much of a problem. And thank you for the links. I will definitely look into the Mando Mercs forum.

Hi Jesse! Welcome. :) I'm not 18 either. ;) I started my kit when I was, oh, 15? Anyways, I wear male style plates that are trimmed a little bit, but I'm rather small in the chest. So, yes, it is possible. :) Definitely check out the Mercs site, like apolifka said. They have a board just for us girls! There are a lot of different threads and styles of plates that people have done over the years that you can look at. And here's my thread: http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f34/custom-mando-d-30682/

I wish you best of luck! And don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

so, here's another question. I understand the heating of the plastic, and the idea of shaping the plates, but what do you use to shape it, and what do you wear on your hands? I mean, I assume that you don't use your bare hands, as the plastic would burn you, but should the gloves be leather? And what do you use to mold the plastic? Thanks :)

Jesse, depends on what u use to heat the plastic. I used a heat gun for mine, and I found that I could hold it w/ just my shop gloves no problem. I would recommend at least 2 layers on your body before molding the parts to you. What I found worked best was heating the plate, shaping it and then dunking it (while still warm) into cold water. The rapid cooling will help it to retain its shape, but it has to be cooled evenly. Meaning the entire piece has to be dunked at once.

Right, Kal'ika, I had read some where about dunking it in water, so that makes sense. But you're saying that I mold it to *me* while in my flight suite and vest? Oh, my. That sounds...interesting. We'll just see how that goes. But thank you. You answered my question very well. :)
