    Jul 24, 2007, 11:01 AM - A question - What is the best Visor material? #1

As the title says, I have been looking into some forums, and no one has information, and I know of the guy that sells them on ebay.

I would go for them, but my visor will be wider and shorter.

Anyone who is an expert on materials for visors or got a link?

    Thanks in advance vode!

    then cut it out

the face shields are gonna be pretty big so itll leave some room for error

You can always use a welders face shield if you have a close-by hardware store or welders supply store near you.

That's a pretty good idea, but they would need to be tinted right? What type of paint or anything would you recommend to do that? Heh, sorry for the questions stream.

    Thanks.

You can't really paint it, but you can use car window tinting on it if you need to. You have to make sure that you get all the bubbles out of it though if you do that.

Shiny black spray paint! Sure, you can't see out of it, but it sure is nice and dark!

I used a welding face shield for my visor.

Although, those scratch very easily...so they might not be the best...

I use dark green welding visors from runnings. They are pretty dark, but I've started to actually use two of them...one over the top of the other. They are easy to cut with a sissors. I get em at runnings, but most hardware/automotive stores have em. No need to mess around with window tint and never had a problem with scratching.

I did mine the uber cheep way and got 'black' report covers. Layering four sheets is enough for you to see out but not anyone see in. They cost like fifty cents where I get them, so four sheets = a buck....

I tried that with my old Don Post. It didn't work very well for me, but I could see it being useful in someone else's hands

I use a dark green Firefighter helmet shield. Cost me all of $11 at the local industrial safety store. VAry dark to look into but easy to look out from, just make sure your get the Number 5 shade, otherwise you can't see a thing unless your out in direct sun light.

Each cover has two sheets, one for the pack of the report and one for the front. Well technically it's one big sheet folded in half but you get the idea.

OK, so two sheets = 4 layers. That makes a bit more sense. Cool deal.
