Pudii Solu - First Post!!!

Prudii Solu

New Hunter
Hey guys, I've been lurking these forums for a bit now, and decided that for SD Comic-con this year I'd build myself some Mando armor, taking the name Pudii Solu or "Shadow Soul" in Mandalorian. Still working on color-schemes and such, but it's not going to be a canon-Fett, so that's why I'm in the variant forums.

My real name is Paul, I'm 18 years old and I'm a pre-nursing student in AZ. I'm getting started on the helmet and armor scratch-builds and will be watching the other threads such as Antman's, Digifett's, and the Trash Can Armor.

I'll also put up some pics in this thread once I get some things done! Wish me luck!

Hey Paul and welcome to TDH. Are you the boyfriend of Aeris from Phoenix comic con by chance? I was the Jango there. Anyhow I too live in Tucson and can help you with alot of things just let me know what you need and maybe we can get some of the guys from the squad together and have an armor party.

-Chris

San Diego will actually be my first Comic-con, and I'm sorry to say I don't know an Aeris, but I will hold you to the help offer, and getting together with like-minded folk sounds like a good time. :cheers

That's the progress so far, thanks to Antman for explaining, and WOF for making the templates.

It's clamped and the glue is drying right now, using polystyrene for the helmet, trash can for the armor. Those gloves on the ground are for the suit also.

HI and welcome!

Lookin' forward to your progress.

welcome!! Im pretty new here too. I was just looking at your avatar and it reminded me of a few awesome black and white mandos I have seen. Are you leaning towards black/white?

Welcome to the dented helmet (TDH). (y)

Good luck with your armor. Check out the threads on weathering armor using the search engine. It's important with a custom or Fett, or whatever type of armor to get the damage and weathering realistic. Nothing says home made like poor battle damage.

Is it weird that when people post pictures of their custom cut and made Mando helmets I get nervous all the sudden? :p Can't wait for more pics man. :)

Oh, also, is is "Puddy" Solu, or "Poodee" Solu? Poodee sounds sorta odd, I think its Puddy, mabey its something completly diffrent, I don't know.

I've been pronouncing it "Poo-thee" like a spanish soft D.

Here's a pic of the "blaster" that I will paint and weather. Nerf guns for the win.

Thats not a gun thats got much use as of yet. I think it looks A LOT better then all the long shot repaints out there. Make sure you shave and sand off the Nerf logos and the warnings. I might also suggest that you use vinyl dye in your base color before you paint and weather it. If you dye the gun your base color it wont rub down to the yellow/blue. I can link you to information on how to do that if you want. (Don't use boil methods.)

When I first read this thread I had thought pudii was a typo? In Mandoa, Prudii, pronouced proo-dee means shawdow. Shadow Soul it's english translation is still a kick @$$ name.

Note to others, don't be a tard like me and get gorilla glue for polystyrene, use the GOOD STUFF. Get PVC/ABS rated bonding agents, or you will have your bucket pop open off of your head! A simple stress test showed the gorilla glue to be less than satisfactory, and the ABS rated to have more stick than a forest in fall. (stick, get it?)

I'm new at the plastic stuff, don't crucify me.

I checked my mando to enlisgh file that I dloaded from the karen traviss website theres def an "R" in prudii. Also one of skirata's null is named prudii (shadow) so im sure.

You definately want to get a plastic rated epoxy for PVC. There is a special type of PVC epoxy, but I'm not sure what it's called as I've never had to use it before.
