    Mar 11, 2009, 5:44 PM - pepakura tusken raider? #1

is there a way for someone to make a pepakura version gorilla kit for a tusken raider? here is a link that has dimensions etc. http://www.studiocreations.com/howto...ider/main.html also the thing doesn't have to be perfectly round, since the fabric will cover it so it could be choppy, just for works sake. any help would be greatly appreciated

Paper models, also called card models or papercraft, are models constructed mainly from sheets of heavy paper or card stock as a hobby. its a program that is used for making costumes (most notably for halo armor). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepakura . this is how i build alot ofmy stuff. its llike a really detailed wizardoff boba scratchbuild... im not looking for a vacuum formed one just one i can print out,

Now that you mention it I have seen it done, but not for a tusken. However anything is possible and would probably work, adding the benefit of increased flexibility. Mine is vac formed only for rigidity, but sometimes when it comes off and on my head flexibility would greatly be appreciated.

a pep sanperson woudl be a pain, youd still have to glass it and wrap it just like the real prop.

i would suggest as its way cheaper to contact the Denizens of the Empire Detachment. the helmet isnt that expensive, but the pep version will take a long time and be very costly.

(ive done lots of pep stuff, so i know whats up)

Costly? It isn't a full helmet, it's just a mask. You wouldn't have to bondo anything, because it would be covered up by the wraps.

perhaps. but youd still need to fiberglass it all. and there still sanding that goes with that. fiberglass is also pretty heavy.

smooth-on or hyperfirm woudl be the way to go.

although if you want to learn how to to the pep stuff, knock yourself out. its a good learning process.

Personally I'd be PLENTY happy with just the base. once it's together you can make the rest of the greeblies out of other materials. Like PVC and Crayola Model Magic (an extremely lightweight air curing modeling compound)
