MissFett

New Hunter
Hello all...

i am starting on my FIRST costume. I need a helmet and am wondering where i can get one that isnt too expensive that i can customize. i have been thinking about starting with a Jango helmet...at any rate i just need a bucket to start with.

any other advice would be greatly appreciated as well.

Hi MissFett, welcome to TDH, THE BEST FORUM EVER !!! :)

You will be able to get any and all the Mando costuming info you could ever want or ask for here, and the greatest ppl too!

If you need sewing tips and ideas for the soft costume items, feel free to PM me.

There is a search function, and it is like a library here. You can dive in and search around for hours. Just plug in a keyword, and start reading!

You will have more introductions and ideas of where to start in no time.

And my best advice would be exactly what you are already begun, research. Find out as much as you can about each part before spending good money. There are plenty of great vendors here on TDH, and there are some questionable vendors on the web. Most everyone here is happy to help and point you in the right direction.

Again, Welcome, Welcome,

Debbi

thanks you guys...

yeah i have a start and sort of a plan. i have the pants, top, and some other soft parts. i am not sure how to do the chest armor though, so if there are any females experienced in this, let me know. i am planning on making my armor, well...most of it. the gauntlets seem like a daunting task as well. and expensive to buy already made...

My wife actually wasn't so crazy about the Rubies jango -- felt it was a little small. So, I'm building her a Bradleyfett custom. It takes a little skill to put it together, and unless you fiberglass it, it can be a little flimsy. But it is a much more reasonable size -- somewhere between the Rubies and the Mystery size.

You can search by "bradleyfett" here and find a couple of threads on his helmet and one or two progress threads.

I find you can reach him easiest on the Mandalorian Mercs board. :)

Good luck!

Chris

BradleyFett helmets are a great way to go! Also, if your head is smaller then you can use a rubies Jango helmet.

Here is the list of our best helmet help threads over on the Mando Mercs forums. Everything from working on a Rubies to doing a aluminum helmet is chronicled there.

As for female armor, there are several options open to you. As a beginner to this, I'm not going to suggest starting with metal. =)

1. Sintra. Easy to form, fairly cheap, easy to cut.

2. Fiberglass. Durable, need some artistic skill to make molds, not very cheap.

3. Vacformed. I'm not sure if you can still order sets from him, but Rotton (who you can reach here on TDH or at Mando Mercs) makes these sets. They fit a D cup great!

You can also make sintra plates then smooth them out with fiberglass or resin. That seems to be a favorite method for many women doing mando armor.

yeah ive been doing research. and sintra...where can i get it?cheap is always good :p...i was going to try to work with metal, but....heheh....its not so easy.
