Hey everyone, this is my second variant for my other brother. Wanted to get some feedback and what not, love to hear what you have to say. I gotta get it done by xmas so I am working on it non-stop. It is a GBFETT (gypsyboy) helmet.

PICS!

Some exterior hardware.

Lookin nice! I like those greeblies also. The reflective visors seem to be the new thing lately, and so far all the helmet's I've seen with'em look great.

i don't have a stalk and rangefinder and cant get one in time for xmas so i tried to improvise with something new but i don't like it much. let me know what you all think. I think I would much rather have a traditional stalk and rangefinder. it keeps buggin me!

Instead of putting those two round things above the visor, why not cut them out and put one on each cheek as a rebreather unit?

yeah i considered that. i moved that piece all over the place and ended up settling on this. I guess it could function as some sort of extra sensory unit. haha i dont know. Since I glued down the piece I have had second thoughts about its positioning but now its stuck where it is haha. Oh man.

Not that it looks bad...but maybe just a little out of place? I think because they are small and stick out. If they were wide and short then I don't think it would look out of place at all.

Yeah I am going to work on it some more today and fiddle around with it more.. Thanks everyone for your opinions I will definitely take them into consideration :)

Just an idea but, maybe if it had a big mando emblem covering a portion of the helmet just to add a little contrast. Honestly, if you didn't do anything else it looks great though.

i took novalltalons advice and switched some stuff up and i have to say i am so glad i did! looks a ton better man, thanks again. I did a little bit of weathering and got rid of the hideous ear piece thing i had going on. I am a lot happier now.

I think this is where it ends for this helmet. Maybe my brother will go on to put a full set of armor on a mannequin and i will get to do more. Truthfully not a fan of the mirror visor and it scratches super super easy and the mirror film is flimsy. I would have preferred a black i think but it is what he wanted. All in all i think it came out pretty decent.

I like your style. I think your final decision was best. I know when I create I like to brainstorm visually. Sometimes you gotta put something somewhere so that you can realize it belongs somewhere else. Good job. So do you have a sister I can marry, so that I become your brother too? haha, just kidding, but you do have lucky brothers!

Looking goo, bro! I like it. And when making a custom, there's a LOT of rethinking and trial and error. In the end, it's your creation and you need to be happy with it, so whatever you do is up to you.

I will say (now that you've changed it) that the first thing I thought of when I saw the first ear piece was Rotta the Hutt. But, I do like what you've done now.

Did you use a bolt to hold down the pieces on the cheeks? If you are going to attach anything to them, I would recommend it. I have a few smaller pieces like yours on my bucket and they are just glued on and not strong enough to hold anything.

Keep it up!

David.

I'm glad my advice was helpful man. The first moment I saw those greeblies, I already knew they would make excellent accessories for cheeks. My mind was like "Why did you put them on the brow...can't you see how cool they would look on the cheeks?" so I just had to chime in with it. I can tell you are much happier with this result, and IMHO it looks like they are really part of the helmet.

Glad I could help. =)

You said it exactly "NovallTalon." Decoration is one thing, but making it look functional, like there is a reason that it is there makes it so much more realistic. Again, nice work on the helmet "runJEDIrun"

thanks again everyone, i really enjoy making custom variant helmets, it is really fun to have the liberty to do whatever you like. I thank you all again for your advice and comments. Its all packed up and ready for thursday, hope he likes it!
