New Custom Bucket

Tack

Hunter
I have dcided that the Rubies Jango that I orinally used for my bucket was too narrow for my build. I purchased a fiberglass helmet off Ebay and decided to do some modifications to it.

Here it is with only some holes drilled into the front where I am going to mount the visor.

Here is where I am so far. I have mounted the visor with bolts and achorn nuts. I am short 4 nuts so I had to use regular screws for them at this time. I have also added my custom ear peice in place of the RF. It is all made out of scrapped paintball parts. I think it turned out really sweet. I am planing on hooking a heavy weaon like a rocket launcher or something to the lower connector part.

Here is a close up of the parts.

I am planing on adding a triple light system on the left ear and a rebreather part on the front section to aid in the anti-fog effort. I will continue to post when I get more parts set up.

And yes, I am going to fill in the dent.

That is friggin awesome! What would be sweet is if you can find yourself some small servos to turn the RF up and down. Maybe give it a laser-sight (since you get get one off a $10 airsoft gun) to for targeting and tracking.

I just love to see custom stuff, cos it's a snap shot of someones Imagination. Looks great, are you going to turn it Black, that would be cool......

Do I see Max-Flo parts, a duckbill, and an Ion bolt? lol... Nice job, looks great... ;)

EDIT-

Actually, looking at it again, that doesn't look like a Max-Flo bracket. What is it?

Congrats on upgrading your helmet!!

I swear by fiberglass helmets. I know I love mine.

Can I ask a question though? Why did you screw in your visor when you could have hot glued it from the inside and not have any holes in the front of your bucket?

Just curious?

Thanks for all the comments.

NovallTalon: I was thinking about it but I dont' have alot of room inside with my big head to mount much else besides the padding and stuff. As for the laser, I have been thinking about it, depends on how the lights on the left side turn out.

Darth Valcar: Yes, the main part of the helmet will be black with red and gray accents. It will look like my old one but a little wider and a bit more weathered and battle damage.

The Asylum: Yes some long range com as well as a hub for additional helmet-weapon or computer interface.

Devilstar2k2: You called it. There is a maxflow reg lower, Ion bolt, regular duck bill, a RIS scope mount and a small RIS mount to hold it all in place.

Jodo Kast 3: My wife glued her visor in and it was a pain in the butt, also, I wanted the studded look on the front. This way I can also remove and replace the visor when it gets scratched up, or I want a new look.

TxFett: Thanks, it just came to me one day while working on one of my paintball sniper rifles that it would work to hold everything in place. It works great and holds the parts onto the helmet solid.

I got the rest of the studs in place this afternoon and am now in the planing stages for the rebreather unit that will replace the lower portion of the visor. Once I get that done I am going to work on the left side and the lights. I have a couple of ideas on how to mount the lights, just need to hammer one of them out and do it. Once I get that in place, I will decide if there is more that needs to be added or if it is time to paint.

Stage II of my construction is done. Got the first four coats of primer on and will be starting on the base coat soon.

Here it is with the mods finished. I don't have the right ear peice on right now but look at my first post to see it.

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice....im not a big fan of rf's so to see yours doenst have one proves im right lol...amazing idea on the bolts aswell, and i like the rebreather idea, great work, keep it up!

Thanks for the comments. I was actually thinking about putting the RF on the left side of the helmet before I decided to do the light set up. My wife thought it would look kind of dumb with both sides having stuff sticking above the helmet so I decided to bow to her judgment. I also like the fact that the set up I have is solid and I dont' have to worry about the RF falling and blocking what little vision I have. That happened alot with my last bucket. I also found peices of the RF ear broken from a fall off an ironing board and onto a concreete floor. That made my decision final about the RF.

Should start painting tomorrow with a base coat of black. After that I get to do the other colors as well as the scorpion. OH how I dread trying to redraw that scorpion.

DONE!!!:cheers

I got the final paint job done yesterday and a little clean up done and I am offically putting a DONE stamp on it. These pics don't really show how great the bucket looks but it is as close as I can get. The only thing missing is the light on the left ear peice. I found it after I had taken the pics.

I am almost finished with the upgraded "Heavy" armor and will be starting my backpack when I get a bit more sentra.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm not fond of it. I don't mean this to be a bash, but moer constructive critizism. The finsh on the paint looks rough and the helmet itself looks like its got imperfections on the finish that were just painted over, I can understand a "beaten in" look, but if looks a bit rushed. The design itself is alright, but it looks like it could look alittle more polished.

Phil

If you're going for the beaten in look, I'd add some spots that look like bare metal showing through where the helmet has impefections. I know that every helmet is damaged like that, but I think it would look best.

Hellopike, the helmet started out with the battle damage already on it. I simply worked around it all. I am of the opinion that the Mandos are much like the Spartans of old. They are warriors through and through, thusly the are proud of their gear and will maintain it. Yes things can get damaged in battle but there are off days that warriors can repair and repaint their equipment and try to keep it in good condition. That is why I did not smooth out the helmet and such.

I agree with him, not to bash either.

Also, what did you use for the visor?
I recommend something stiffer if it is from a welders shield/mask.
