    NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

It has been a while since I have posted here on thedentedhelmet but I figured to make the best of it. Over the months I have been pretty well busy with school stuff and preparing for some fun that will be happening through the fall season. This includes with halloween coming up. But over the days I have gathered some information and thought it over a number of times. I am in the process of another great costume of my own very creation. This will be in use of some of the clothing I have at home. It is nearly finished and will be ready soon.

So far I have gotten some of the things required for the costume. What is left is what I will go to the store for....possibly walmart when I get the money to get the things needed. Photos will be up of what the costume will look like. I am hopping to wear it at place here in Arizona and get some photos of it with a friend of mine. So hopefully it will be good and ready for view very soon.

Be sure to check here for up-to-date photos of what I am planing. Soon enough the whole costume will be up and photos will be taken.

A small update; I am not sure if I am really going to use this. But for sure I am not using the weapon. I was just messing around with a bunch of supplies when I decided to take this photo to see how it would really turn out.

Thanks Saz, I appreatiate that. It is actually good to be back; and in time to reveal my newest project.

I have no pictures as of now to post but there is an update of what I am going to be using. Searching through some stuff I found a set dark lense glasses to use in part with the costume. There is also a set of binoculers that will go with the costume. So far that is it for the update but I can assure you that photos will be up as soon as I can get my computer to upload my SD card.

Stay in touch with this threat. More will come!

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Alright, alright....there is really no need to go all ninja on me. But seeing as you are speaking of laserwhip rather laser sword in my book I got a photo of a weapon and the boots I will be using up thanks to my cell phone. I had to shed a little more light on the subject of those shoes as my room was well dark. But I am not sure if I am going to stay with that lightsaber as I am going to just have it on my side for show. I may use it once in a while but not much.

So far so good and the good news is that the boots are well weathered enough for me to use for the costume. I guess ATV riding really does pay off LOL!

    Or me!! :P

looks great, ner vod!!! Can't wait to see it finished.

Also, just sand off the logo and then black the gun out, and all of a sudden, it goes from kids toy to Kal's toy.

    Something new guys!!!!!

Dog-tags or dog-tag to put it more clearly. Someone made it and gave it to me for participation in Drill Meets. So I figured to use it for my costume. However, my plan is not to wear it around my neck as most people do. It's a good looking peace of material to use for my bounty hunter costume....so figuring to use it will give me my costume a good overall advantage.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

My second weapon has been choosen. Searching through I figured to go to Wal*Mart and buy the clone blaster that is $20.00. It's a good price and I can well afford it. I doubt that I will be able to sand it let alone paint it because I am not one of those persons who holds that much material to do such deals. But if I can I will pain the weapon all white if I get the chance to show off the true nature of a hunter's best friend.

All will turn out good when everything gets put together.

What is the overall look you're going for with costume? Is there going to be any actual armour (hard parts, helmet or leather)? Do have any concept art? I'd love to see where you're planning to go with this.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

There is going to be no hard parts. All of this will be custome from stuff around the house with some extra stuff that I am planing towards. I am believing that this costume will be a clone soldier who went rogue. Though truth be told that I will be a little short for a clone trooper.

Just look at me in my other costume before I decided on this. I am short!!!!! But my plan is around the camoflauge look. Nearly what my friends are pulling off here.

More will be played through as time goes on. I am still planing on adding much to this project to make it look more like a bounty hunter.

We where actually at an Overnight Camp Out with the NJROTC. There was not much really to do during that time....except of the night orienteering that we did which was a lot of fun. I am the one in the blue.

Ive got a suggestion for a weapon. If your gonna do an unarmored hunter, why not go stealth and use old school bow and arrow, but a SHORT bow like 30" or so.

Focusing on that little suggesting, my friend, why not go for the new-school Wookie Bowcastor? You could easily modify a crossbow, or you can buy wookie weapons as toys.

That is what the whole camoflauge deal is for....camoflauge and being sneaky. I was also thinking of goind vibro-sword as well. May help in those melee combat situations LOL!

But one question? Any ideas of where I could get a Wookie weapon as a toy?

If you going to do a rogue clone, then maybe try a couple of plates (greaves and gaunts perhaps...) with the gear...to tie in the clone look. Maybe paint them camo to match or something...Just my 2cents...

I am thinking that this could be a charm that my hunter uses when he is against over-whelming odds in a fight. In other words it gives him good luck LOL!

Not much more to show around guys. I am searching for the camoflauge pants that I will be wearing but can't seem to find them. Then there is the under-type shirt that I am planning on wearing. A photo of that will come soon as well as the camoflauge type jacket that will be worn over that and then gloves. So far everything is going pretty good on my end with the costume.

Now the only thing is head gear; I am still thinking about of what I am planing to use for the head stuff but I am not entirly sure. Any ideas guys?

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Finally, I found the camoflauge pants that have been hidding from me. I don't have anyone to take pictures of me while I am wearing them but they are well fitting and confortable. And might I say my favorite thing to wear. Like the boots these have also have been weathered which brings excitment to me.

Worry not about the helmet it is something new that my mom bought for when we go ATV riding out in the dunes and away from Phoenix. From the caomflauge jacket I will be wearing with the rest I found a shirt that will go best with everything including the camoflauge pants. Here is a few pictures of them.

Like the pants this is also well fitting and very confortable. I always enjoyed wearing the shirt during certain events to show off pride. But so far that is it. More will be coming. Still trying to think of something for head gear. I am still open for ideas?

Went searching online and found a good weapon that could be put into use for this costume hopefully.

Now who wants to face this hunter LOL! I am not sure if I am really going to buy it but I am thinking that it would go good with this costume. There is probally a definit for the clonetrooper blaster I will use. But still I will be heading to the store thursday so I can take a look and see what there is to make this costume

Just a warning, paint flakes off of those REALLY easily. Also, It (the paint) remains sticky, so If you hold it all day, your hands will have more paint on them than the sword does.

Really, I guess that is why I don't see it much at Wal*Mart when I go to the store. Thanks for telling me. I may just stick with the clone blaster.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Note: I'm not trying to be a pain, so take the following comments with large grains of salt.

You should actually build some armor.

If you continue on the path that your on, you will look like a JROTC cadet and not a space age, sci-fi mando, bounty hunter (or farmer). The pentagram while it looks great with certain costumes would look very out of place with this costume, same with the dog tags.

Try a OD green flight suit from a surplus store as a base, and than build upon that.

Making templates even from carboard if your budget is limited is very easy to make, and would take less than 30 minutes to cut out the upper armor plates and paint them one color.

you could than resin over this if you wanted, to complete the look. its been done before with great results on here somewhere. not sure where or who it was.

so basically don't use "us military standard issue clothing" for a costume that is doesn't work for.

paint your armor camouflage if thats the look you want, thats pretty easy as well and i can help you out with that if you choose that route.

Any questions? i'm here to help/.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Most of the materials that are for the armor I am low on which means I can't get them. You don't know how much I want to make armor but I can't because of my low budget deal.

i can compleatly agree and im right where you are.

for example. if you can crounge uyp 20 bucks or 15 dollars you can get the leather, aluminum sheet metal or a decent sized trash can. heck i think you can get a trash can for 5 bucks.

but save up....it'll be worth it in the long run.

    carboard is free.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

I got me $100 in ones but I am saving that for the Nickelback concert I am attending to buy a t-shirt. I looked on youtube and saw someone using cardboard and a cereal box to create their armor along with water color style paint. I am still going to try this custom bounty hunter out and put together some sketches for mandalorian armor and post them up while doing this.

    Thanks a bunch vod.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

You can also use FREE PRIORITY MAIL BOXES, just walk into the post office and grab a handful, they wont stop you. Thats how I made

<----------------------------- that little bucket over there.

I used priority mail envelopes, the WOF templates, a spool of tape, and $10.00 of Resin/fiberglass repair kit and $8.00 can of bondo.

It took me only 2 tries with the WOF template before I felt it was good enough to harden.

I made the bucket, did a resin coat, waited for it to dry, then glassed it, bondo and sand LOTS AND LOTS OF SANDING, then I promptly DROPPED IT and cracked it, but decided to use the cracks as Nexu damage and vibro sword cuts.

But bh is right, you gotta put some sort of mando armor on it or it wont really be a mando will it?

Chest plates from cardboard and resin at least so it has the mando look.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

I actually was not considering this mandalorian armor just a standard bounty hunter almost like Cad Bane LOL! But some ideas have come for mandalorian armor when I begin my work for the mandalorian armor.

Someone on another sight other then the this place and Mandalorian Mercs told me that trash can armor is not a good way to go. And when I go here many people have made trash can armor and cardboard armor. So I am sticking with those who have done cardboard and trash can and going with what they say.

I may take this design under my wing with a few changes to it.

But yeah good idea adonian I may go to the post officer and grab me some priorty mail box's to make the armor. However, I am not so good at molding and sculpting to do a mandalorian helmet so I may just buy a Boba or Jango style helmet and work from there.

you can get the 30 dollars 2pc easily enough, its better than the rip off price for the rubies vinyl 1pc and a better shape to boot.

ive seen more ****** trash can armor than regular, so im with whomever you talked to abtou that, not to say it cant be done, but it needs work.

still think leather and metal are easiest.

Sintra is pretty dang easy too.

Also, to get FREE sintra, call up a local sign shop, and ask for extra, or SCRAP sintra, I got enough for like 10 suits of Jango-style armor.

Also, If you explain to them what it is you are doing with it, a.k.a bring in a sample, or a design pic, or SOMETHING, Then they are more likely to let you take it.

Adonian, can you post pics of the boxes??? I can't picture them in my head.

I'd like to quote what he stated of using trash can's but I also don't want to sound mean of what he said. It was his own opinion and I really don't want to put him down for it in all honesty.

There is this one guy who makes helmets and I was thinking of buying one off of him. He is the bobamaker guy.....but the helmet is fiberglass.

It's a good looking peace of work but I am going to see where else I can get a good looking helmet.

BM and fett pride have the best stuff in my opinion. but not if youre on a budget.

id start off with the cheaper helmets for now and upgrade later once you have a solid idea of what your MANDO looks like later.

    That's what I planned. But I have a question?

I have seen some of the custom mandos have different colored visors. Can those be bought or is there some type of paint used to make them that color?

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

you can get red like mine and green from fleabay, the seller (i forgot) also makes blue visors for the imperial guard, he may make a blue t-visor but I cant say for sure since I am not him
You can also use a motorcycle visor and cut it out, they come in iridium, fun stuff

BM and Fett Pride are both excellent, but if you dont want to spend over $250 for one, you can get one from SAZ, he's just starting to sell his buckets, like $150 or so plus shipping.
I used the priority envelope for my buckets.

As for trash can armor, it can be glassed, but I am using mine for fun, not fuction, so I dont need to glass it. Metal is nice, but heavy, and again I am making my armor for fun so no metal.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this guy:

Also, if you want a budget lid, whiteraven here on TDH is going to be doing a boba and a jango lid shortly. He's the dude that did those SWEET mando commando buckets. (and he's here in AZ...save a few pennies on shipping that way.)

With little to do around here and the fact that I can't get out of the house at the moment I figured to do a color of what I am looking towards for the mando helmet. I will be actually doing a sketch of what I am hopping to put into the helmet to make it look all that much sweater.

I'm feeling generous, I could let you have one of my cast offs real cheap, may mean a bit of bondo work on your part but I can appreciate you're working on a budget.

PM me and we can have a chat and I'll see what I can do for you, as BH is right, you need to do this properly.

Hey guys while searching around through the internet of different mando helmets I considered a few of them....some being the Jango style helmet which would help me in the long run. But here is one that I found that is good in price but not entirly sure if I am going to get it.

Saz don't worry I am still holding you in on the offer you gave me of your mando helmet. If nothing comes through I'll see about taking it in and grabbing the helm off of your hands.

Dang kind of wish I could draw but it seems I am no good at it to get sketches of what I am aiming towards up on paper. I'm going to try paint and if that does not work will just have to wait for the construction to begin.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

What I am using in the chest and stomach armor peaces will be much different. Part of Rahm Kota's from TFU and part mandalorian. To go more into detail there will be no center diamond peace and no neck armor. It will be like Rahm Kota's with the adding effect of part of mandalorian. And the stomach armor will be comprised of the mandalorian armor. There will be no back armor peace to it but of a back pack.

The leg armor and cod peace I am still looking into ideas for it but will see when I move into it. Possibly I will use a cod peace but not sure as of yet. I'm going to look more into that. And the helmet is there to come really soon. I am just happy thursday will be that lone day I head out searching for the soft stuff for the armor.

I know its a jedi but I am going to use his armor peace style for my armor. The peaces maybe a little smaller counting the stomach armor but trust me it will be well worth it. I'll throw together a sketched photo to show you (and others) what I am looking at when using Kota's armor style.

thats easy, just print the WOF templates, but dont do the diamond, put it on a trash can for now since its like $7.00 or just use priority mail boxes and do some resin, glass and bondo. Two hours later you have viable chest armor.

Though I have poor drawing skills I figured to go ahead and give it a try the double layer that Saz sudjested. It came out well and I am well impressed with it. More then likely that is what I am going to use for shoulder armor.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Okay so before I post up any photos of what I am going to do next I figured to just speak out instead of posting those loving photos that everyone loves up.

    To start:

Mostly everyone knows that tomorrow is my birthday. Good part of that is I am heading out to the store with my friends where I'll be searching for some stuff for the mando armor that I am working on. This includes pants, belt, a sleeveless shirt, and gloves. Hopefully it wont be that much for me to start buy. I have some cash together and it will work well to get the soft stuff together before the armor comes into play.

After getting the black stuff I'll try it on and take a few photos to post up here and on the Mando Mercs site. Tomorrow night I'll take a sharpie marker and use cereal box's to draw what the armor is going to look like and possibly use the cereal box's as the shinny smooth area over the rough cardboard. So far everything is going well and I am hopping to get a good size mando helmet.

See you all soon with those updates.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Thanks guys. I appretiate that; well after going out today in search of stuff for the armor I only was able to buy a top that would work for the upper portion of the body armor. That was mostly it counting that I had only $30 to spend alone. I was lucky enough to even get the top for my costume. But as luck have it I managed to grab a hold of the top.

Along with that I searched through my room and came found something that would also work well for the armor and apart of the costume. Pretty cool if I may add. What I figured was to make it look like where my character (mando) recieved an injury. That is where I found out to use a gauze bandage with a few black marker markings on it to symbolize the battles my mando has been it. Maybe the bandage could be where he recieved a burn or something I am not entirly sure but here is a few photos.

The bandages wont be tight to cut of circulation but hey I figured it would be good on the armor.

The photos of that nerf light I have actually decided not to use that light. As stated I am on a small budged so I am using what I can get my hands on to make this armor for the next event that is coming in October here in AZ.

But as for what I came to grips with finding the stuff for the peaces of armor I came across this which seems to be working well for when the peaces of armor are made and put together.

Now for the second and third pictures and with that top for the first one I am going to be doing some modifications with scissors (if I can spell tonite LOL!). So hopefully tomorrow I'll get that done and move forward to showing pictures of it finished. I had fun today doing all of this stuff and am looking forward to what is to come tomorrow.

Yeah sewing and all that is not one of my strong points of interest espically in the vest portion of a costume. Maybe in vest wise along with the tops that I will be using maybe I can manage through with purchasing a sturdy vest from Wal*Mart or search in for Goodwill to see what comes up. I got me some cash to move forward and hopefully it will be good enough to purchase all what I need.

Does that vest zip up all the way? If yes, I think it'd work nicely. Though I would watch the armpit/pectoral area for having enough fabric to go under the armor.

Hopefully it will; but if it does not then it will be a good thing that I will have black on underneath. So don't worry I have an alternative just in case it does not work as planned. Remember, to always have a plan B. LOL!

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Hey guys here is an update. I managed to find my old pair of riding ATV gloves I used until I recieved a new pair. So I figured to go ahead and use these as apart of my mando armor. Because of that O'Neal symbol on it I am going to have some hand-plate to hide the symbol.

The good thing about it is that the gloves already have the unique red color I have been looking for. So this means I really don't have to go out and search for a pair of gloves for my mando armor.

Now the only good referance I came to for hand-plate armor was the clone hand plates and this is the only photo I manage to pick up through a search through Google.

But hey they look good to get some good stuff for hand-plates so that is really fine by me. Now don't get me the wrong way I am making a lot of progress on this costume. Found a few peaces of cardboard and I am going to use cereal box's as a top smoothing surface for the armor. You all know my limited supply of money. Well hopefully, I'll have the chance to head to Wal*Mart to get the vest I need as well as some velcro and some extra paint. But I wont go into paint as of yet.

Now I know many of you know about the whole Bluetooth stuff and how certain things can sync into cell phones. Well I was very relieved when I recieved a bluetooth headset for my PS3 as I do a lot of online play with Guitar Hero Metallica. Now I do recieve phone calls through my phone and I was happy when I found out that this bluetooth set could pair with my LG Chocolate from Verizon.

So because of the calls I recieve; I am definitly going to be using this sweet device along with my phone that way when I have a call I don't have to take off my bucket and pick up my cell phone and answer it. True it maybe inside a black face mask that also acts as my neck seal but I really believe that this will go a long way with the constant calls I recieve. LOL!

a mando vest woudl still be easier, and far cheaper. Hell you live here, ill make you one. the zipper doesnt do it for me. unless you wore it backwards.
