Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
That would be a little un-confortable for me in wearing something backwards. I was thinking of taking a black peace of cloth and velcroing it on the sides to stretch across to hide the zipper. But if there is someway to have one made then that will work for me. Thanks a bunch bh.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
yeah. come to the armor party on the 29th in central phoenix.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I'll see if I can make it there.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
A plan of objectives today for me. Today I am hopping to use some cereal box's to start before the cardboard comes into play to make the shape of the armor plates. I have done a complete sketch of the plates that will be wearing when the armor is finished. This sketch will also act as a reference for when the cardboard does come into play. I'll be using the cereal box's to act as the smooth surface for the top of the armor. So here it comes for today. Progress pics. Wooohooo!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Actually NVM that; I actually found a good way and design to do an ab plate. It required some changing of the chest plates but it was accomplished.

Modified (nothing to post) see below for updates

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Alright a small update from what I put in yesterday. Today, after getting back from visiting my grandma's house I took out sheets of lined paper. The stuff that would be writing our essay's and math problems on during the time of school. LOL! Well I took those sheets and began making trace sheets that way I can trace them onto the cardboard. Now what I noticed was that the chest peaces did not fit right unless they held a neck peace like all mandalorians would hold.
So with little information of the neck source I returned here and looked up on google some good angles of the neck peace and managed to through out a good design for the neck armor. By the looks of it; it will work better. Now the only other thing I really have to do is draw and cut out the neck, chest, ab, and cod peaces on the lined paper and it will be set to transfer over to the cardboard version.
I am hopping to accomplish this at least by today because tomorrow I'll be gone and going up to PVCC to take my placement test and finish up with everything. Then if I have enough time when I get home I'll begin a little work on the cardboard version of the armor. So far everything is working out as I planned and hopefully everything with the armor will be done by september or so.
Thank you all for the help btw. I really appretiate it!!!!

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Guess what guys it is time for an update. YEAP!!!! I finally made some progress. First and for most it did take me a while since the scissors that I am using kill my hands and really don't cut well with cardboard. But they came out well.
First of all before I even began construction I did some fitting on the black suit that I will be wearing under my vest. I managed to pull it through in the right way and I am extremely happy that it turned out good.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...b3557d9f28.jpg
Now next comes the whole cardboard phase that took me a while.
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...bf67958e3b.jpg
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...4d0175f6bf.jpg
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...e891577572.jpg
I must say I am impressed with the result even if cardboard is hard to cut through. Espically, counting that the cardboard is an old PS2 box I found in my closet. I figured why not make the shoulder bells out of it. That is what I came up with. Nothing to big but hey progress is progress right?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
thought you had templates?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I do have templates. I printed them off of the computer, darkened the lines to where I can see them, cut them out, fitted them to my form, and then traced the template peaces on the cardboard that was used to make the shoulder bells. Took some time but I did it.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
templates for the chest armor? the ab plate doesnt seem to fit the chest plates nor does the chest plates seem to follow the ones from WoF.
just curious...
you shoudl DEFENATELY come to the mando build party at the end of the month. it'll be near northern and 36th ave.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Well; my lights where flickering in my bedroom when I took the photo so I had to partially turn the fan on which started to blow the peaces of paper away when I was trying to take the photo. But they look really good the way I see them. Hopefully, when the cardboard comes out I'll lay it on the floor and take a photo of it.
I understand....
With counting that I am starting into college courses I'll have to see if will be able to make it. I only have one class on Mondays, Wednedays, and Fridays, and on Teusdays and Thursdays I have three classes to attend. So depending on when the armor party starts and the time I get out all depends if I will be able to show up or not. But we will have to see.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Saturday the 29th Am to PM. pretty much all day. youre certianlly welcome and about 10 people are building armor for the first time, so no biggee. we'll have 3-4 very knowledgeable people there to help out!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Well that's good to know vod. Hopefully, if I'm not to busy I'll stop on by to see what is happening. Can't pass up that sort of opportunity.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
the chest plates and ab plate definately don't match up, you gotta change something... you should deifnatly take up bh on his offer, it'll be a good experience for you, your lucky to have someone close to your area to offer you help like bh... you've seen his adidas (sorry bh, thats just what it looks like to me :) ) metal armor, you gotta get together with him and others who can give you constructive criticism and helpful hands.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
hey, Shado's armor is the first female armor i built. Built a second for Phoenix (jess) which she sold to someone else, i think i saw it at SDCC but i don't know who the girl was.
im currently working on female sets 3 and 4.
thank you though.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I like the pic I 'chopped' for you, you know the one with Shado takin on the Jedi... That armor seriously ROCKS, I mean it should be seen in the live action TV series commin up its that good ;)
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
thanks. Its retired now though....
:D
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
If you guys say that the chest plates don't match up with the ab plate then I most likely believe you all. I was hopping to have something totally different with chest plates in the AZ area but if the chest areas don't match then all I will need to do is just change them around. Not to hard I got the templates on file and it is easy to print stuff out with the simple click of a button.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
it's just all the space between the hard parts, you can change the shape of the ab plate and add side plates.... I highlighted what is in NEED of change, its because of vulnerability, not looks.
I made you a rough "sketch" in paint. You can try it if you like it.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
if thats what the plates look like flat, where did you get the templates?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
The shoulder bells and ab plate I printed off of the internet from a zip file that was posted on Mando Mercs. The chest plates I made on my own. It maybe a little more peaces of armor but I'll give it a try. Thanks a bunch adonian. If it does not work I'll go with the traditional I see flying around here and probally add my own little twist to it LOL!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Well; I have decided to go traditional with the chest plates. Printed out the templates, darkened the lines, cut them out and then traced them on the cardboard and finally cut them out. Might I add looks good even if they are PS2 cardboard boxs. Here are the photos.

Tomorrow I am shooting to getting the neck armor and the ab armor done. Not going to go with cod armor but it will still look good. And as for the gauntlets and boots something will soon be posted up of those as well. So stay looking my friends.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
does it work with your current ab plate? take a pic!
looking better!!!!!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Oh yeah; after printing the templates out I test fitted them with the ab plate template and they worked fine. Then after cutting the chest plates out with the medallian I did another test fit to make sure it was right and ready. And sure enough it came out great.

And thanks BH.....though not much is happening I feel like I am getting some stuff accomplished :D

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
So figuring that the armor peaces are nearing the final stages (almost). I decided to move forward and see what I can come to grips with mandalorian gauntlets. I know many of you had said shin guards would work and I even had a few ideas of using gatorade bottles, water bottles, and even cardboard. Someone said to buy it from the Bobamaker guy.
But there was a problem concerning with that. I enjoy restriction as much as the next person but I am a person that has to have at least some movement in my arms and around my hands. So I told myself "mandalorian style gaunts wont work so well at this moment." So I decided to try something new.
Looking around the house I came across a wrapping that came from a costume that I wore during Halloween last year and figured that would work as something for my mando armor. So I went ahead and took some pictures along with trying it on. It fit well and looked good by the way I was looking at it. Here are the photos.

I know there is someway to make a good pair of mandalorian gauntlets but I found no other way of using cardboard or gatorade bottles (which I don't have any to make gaunts). So I figured to give this a try out for a gauntlet idea. It seems to fit well but we will just have to see.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
those will work. can make gaunts go over them, will look cool!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Cool; that's what I was hopping for. I may need to get some more information of mandalorian gauntlets. There is a possibility that I'll snag two gatorade bottles and just make a pair of gaunts out of them. Not sure of what I can do....but where there is a will there is a way.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
well you can make the template ones.
pretty sure its way easier for you if you get the 9 dollar franklin gauntlets from wallmart
heres a pic:

Gp buy 2 of the fat powerade bottles (3 bucks max) chop the top and bottom off, add some padding, then paint to your desired color. :)
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
You know Fractal-Fett; some people told me that for gatorade bottles they work well. So I may just do that. Might require some drinking of the powerade but hey it is worth it LOL! Might become something of use for me. I wont be adding those things on the top but hey it will work.

its just a rope. it was those colors when i bought it. its sewn to a black fabric with buckles in the back. check out the JAX RETURNS thread

You might want to consider tearing up some old toys, one of the mercs members fund a great part on a G.I.Joe Side car that looks like a double barrel shotgun mounted on their otherwise plain gauntlets. :P

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I can tell that is Arizona bh. Everyone knows what Arizona looks like. Heck I can take a photo of the mountain behind me and show it to you and you would say that is Arizona lol!
But I got some new updates. Quiet a few pictures if I may add. Never had to really post so many pictures at one time. But hey I am making progress in this armor. Tomorrow is the next stage of fitting the peaces to my form. Well enough talking here is the last two peaces of the armor.

http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...d454483dc8.jpg
Like I said there is a lot of photos in this post. LOL! Now concerning with the weapon I will be using I was figuring of going to Wal*Mart and buying the foam dart clonetrooper blaster. During that time I had told my nephew Jasen my idea of making mando armor. He agreed with me 100% fold and decided to lend a helping hand out. So he ran into his room and pulled out his Nerf CS-6 Longshot along with its attachments. He came back into my room and told me "Use this as a weapon Jamie."
Overall I was honored that he let me use something that is around $30-$40 bucks at Wal*Mart. So I took his offer and decided to move forward in using his Longshot for my mando armor. Agreeing with him we moved forward and took some photos of the weapon. That's my nephew holding the weapon while I am taking the picture.

The weapon is overall something that I will use for the armor. I got a good paint scheme in mind. I am trully thanking Jasen for letting me use his weapon.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Use Krylon Fusion, and a primer designed for plastics. :)
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Okay; should the same be used for cardboard armor? Just want to make sure before I go out buying the paint!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
for the cardboard, spray a sealant before painting, it will get rid of the "whiskers" on the cardboard. :) But yeah.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I'm glad I only have a few peaces of armor or this would take a long time to do everything. Just got to figure where I can get some Krylon Fusion and Sealant spray paint and I'll be golden.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Already found where I can get some sealant and Krylon Fusion Spray paint. Sears! Not all that cheap....around four or five bucks for the individual cans alone and the grey sealant is around eight dollars. WOW! I hope I can get that stuff.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
fusion is fine on its own on the longshot and all nerf toys....
2-3 bucks at wallmart.
also im confused. WHAT is arizona? i didint show any pics of AZ>
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Thought you did....oh well. But it's good to know where I can get some good paint. Wal*Mart is like the safe haven for mando builders LOL! I am hopping to actually get the peaces of armor formed to my body tomorrow and then go out searching for the paint at Wal*Mart.
I know I have not posted anything of soft stuff and I am still working on my soft stuff. But I managed to find a really cool looking belt. Thing is on the outside it has a bunch of different symbols (drawings if you will) on it. So I decided to try it on the black way. Turned out pretty cool. But if I can find one of the other belts that resembles a girth belt then it will look cool.
Managed to take a photo of it. Looks pretty cool just need that other belt!!!!

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
What system is this Arizona you speak of? Is it in the outer rim?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Phoenix....lived in Phoenix mostly my whole life. It's actually increasing in size out by Carefree Highway and over by Suprise.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Never lived there myself, I lived in Georgia, Florida, Virgina, Colorado, Hawaii, and California, I have been to Az a couple of times, it's got great scenery for pics that will fit into the SW universe, you guys are lucky, I live in Chula Vista, (southern Cali) where there is nothing that even resembles Star Wars (Besides the SDCC :) ).
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Well lets see you got the Imperial Sand Dunes of Glamis, Buttercup, and Gordons Well. Those dunes kind of resemble Tatooine. Yeah Arizona has some wierd weather if I may add. Like yesterday and today. Yesteday we had no rain at all; and then today I woke up around four o'clock from hearing rain outside. Lets just say tha AZ has some wierd weather no matter where you go. But it's also nice weather to add onto that. May get hot and humid sometimes but when winter sets in it's all good.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Hey guys I managed to push myself over to goodwill because of it being their dollar day to search for some stuff for my mando armor. This was after visiting PVCC to get my student ID and all. But I managed to find two good looking belts that would work fine with mando armor. One has a strong resemblance to a girth belt and the other overall looks kick @$$.
I don't have any photos of the belts yet but when I get them I'll post them up with fitting of my armor and a few other things. My soft stuff is nearly completed it's just the matter of the armor, weapon, and bucket is all. Everything is coming out great.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Alright; I finished fitting and bending the cardboard to where it would fit me. Personally, I checked them over by placing them around my body and they fit well. I even made sure that they fitted when the belt is on. The only other thing to do is go to Wal*Mart and get me some paint and my vest. Mostly it will be complete only leaving the helmet.
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...a1125e2826.jpg
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...c223a7c79e.jpg
I also had a possible idea of using this little trinkit. Possibly a trophy that my mando collected from a kill. I am not so hot on moding it or changing it as it's something that was given to me. It's a thought process. I'm not entirly sure if I am going to go through with it.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
okay, here's a few simple tips for ya, u seem to be uneasy with modding things that are given to you. Well... IF I WERE U, I would keep an eye on Target and Toys'R'Us, they tend to have Nerf sales fairly regularly and you can get the longshot for $30 or less at either place. They also have the CS-6 recon for $20 or less on the average. As for the braid... yeah that looks like a standard JROTC color guard braid or something like that. We were issued white ones like that for Honor Guard at my old detachment (senior ROTC NOT Jrotc...I am now a commissioned officer). They are fairly inexpensive as well, I think ours were around $2 each... check with someone in your local JROTC unit or military surplus store they'll have similar items. However, I think that would work just fine on ur armor without modding. As far as other suggestions... Toys'R'Us and mil-surplus are invaluable.
Kal
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Well the longshot my nephew gave to me. But thanks for the tips anyway on the Nerf guns. I also know well about the JROTC braids as I was apart of the Navy JROTC at my school. In the Drill Team Without Arms. I'm going to try it with the belt and see how it looks. I'll take a photo and post it up to show you. Thanks a bunch Kal; I appretiate it.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
can you hit up a surplus store? you can find all kinds of goodies for your belt, like ammo pouches and bandolieres (?SP) even tent's that can be cut down to become a nice shoulder cape ;)
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I'll see if I can find one in my general area. As stated I don't have much money so it will be a little tough to get that sort of stuff for the belt and all. But as time goes on I'll be doing some updates on my armor to better it.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
the surplus stores in our area kinda stink. they mostly have NEW items and really no WWI or Korea type things like in ElCajon, CA.
i really don't like that.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
You know I kind of noticed that when I searched it up on google. My friend told me where he got his camoflauge gear for when we went out on Overnight Campouts with the NJROTC said there was not much at those stores unless you where going for the camo material to wear out in the desert or in the forested areas. Which is likely with Arizona LOL!
But hopefully tomorrow I'll get somewhere to get my vest and some paint.
I also had an idea of using a cape/cloak (which ever it is) seeing as I am not going to be using a back plate at the moment to hide the bareness of my bike. It is pretty descent shape and I used it for an old sith costume I worked up. Maybe it would work good without the hood. But it looks good and I was believing it would look good with my armor.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...452dd00c4c.jpg
I'll just keep the hood down unless I want my mando to go stealth or undercover LOL!

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I am thanking my sister for this. We went to Frys today for some grocery shopping and came across the gatorade section. Well seeing we could not pass up the offer of .77 cents for the platic bottles we got them. One for me and one for Jasen my nephew. But once we finish drinking them (not going to pour the drinks out; thats a waste) I am going to prep them for the transformation over to mandalorian gauntlets.
Nothing special will be added onto them. They will be just cut, painted, padded and ready for wearing. Pretty much it for that. I'll post some pictures up once they are empty and ready for the converstion over to mando gaunts. They will be looking good once I am done with them.....
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Hey guys time for a few updates.
I went searching through my room to find the cloak I planned on using since I have no back plate for my armor. After constant searching and cleaning my room a little bit I could not find the cloak. So more then likely I'll probally have a back plate; not sure as of yet. But it is there unless pack of some kind comes into play.
I also went searching on the Wal*Mart website and the original vest that I planned on getting does not have it in my size. Well it does but I have to buy it online which I can't as usual. So I have to find another means of using a vest. Most of my soft stuff is complete except for the vest issue. So hopefully, I'll find a way across that problem.
Next is the mandalorian gauntlets and I am thanking my sister for this one. We went out to Frys for some grocery shopping and managed to come across .77 cent Gatorade bottles. Now I know some of you told me to use gatorade bottles for mando gaunts well guess what....I'm using them. Managed to pull through getting one of the gaunts set up and ready for painting and cutting. Here are some photos of what I am going to do tomorrow.
http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...0ef3e15bb8.jpg

http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...61936ae1a7.jpg
http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...c3131da772.jpg
My black marker ran out as I started to line where I want to make the cut. But I have a good idea of what I am cutting. It will be started tomorrow or possibly tonight. If I am not to busy.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
dont forget what i told you.
do not buy vest at target/walmart. get fabric at walmart or joannes. will set you back 3 bucks. we'll show you how to make vest at mando party in two weeks.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I actually realized that when I looked in the Wal*Mart website when they did not have good sizing vests. So I figured to just buy the fabric and make a vest. I'll see what I can do during that time.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Okay; since nothing better is happening I figured to give a start on my mando gaunts which will be made out of gatorade bottles. I already have them marked and ready for cutting which is what I did today. After cutting them I fitted one of them to my arm and noticed that it will only fit up to my elbow which I kind noticed that from the begining.
http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...127de68a7f.jpg
http://c2.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...ce4d630545.jpg
Now the next best thing to do is to paint them over with some paint and padd them. Not to hard. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some paint for them soon enough (as soon as my mom pays me the money she owes me LOL!). But they will look good no matter what.
EDITED!
Here is a photo of me wearing the gaunts. My nephew actually helped me out with taking the photo. It had to be quick or else they would of falled down to my elbows. But once I get some padding and theya re painted they will be ready for wearing with the armor.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
something you might consider is cutting a section out of them, then adding elastic or straps, giving you the ability to adjust them so they dont fall and also fit more snuggly. If you are going to the armour party on the 29th or to the meeting the 22nd, bring those and I can give you a hand at making them fit better. :)
:cheers

Like the gator juice bottles, even if simple they are a good START, you gotta add greebles.
I found the caps to glade air fresheners are cool when painted, or even the plastic holders on cardboard boxes that they use to secure items to the packaging work nice.
Broken or still new but just gotta use it electronics parts are cool too.
The USB Video capture stick still works, but who cares it'll look cool when it gets glued onto my bucket ;)

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Yeah, plain bottles aren't great looking gaunts... Try some of the things Adonian suggested, and hit up Home Depot plumbing and kitchen section for some cool looking stuff to stick on there as well.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
You gotta point there vod. I was actually looking at them and this came in before I decided in painting which will hopefully begin tomorrow. I have a few Nerf extra add-ons. Like one where there is a green light that my nephew got working then a scope one that goes onto the longshot. But I'll be searching around to see what I can put into these gaunts. Some photos will be posted with the gaunts next to them so I can get your guys imput. Thanks for the sudjestion.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
W00t! Keep it up Commander. :D It's all looking great. And I'm sure there are random things in the house you could stick on your gaunts.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Thanks vod.......I'm looking around the house now to see what I can bring up for my gauntlets.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Now you guys have gone and done it. And I wish I never did this but I did anyways. Well my mom did when she was cleaning out (as we in the family call it) our big living room she came across to wireless controller adapters used for wireless controllers. I looked at them and thought they would be great uses for my mando gaunts seeing as I don't use my PS2 anymore. Here is a photo of them?

What do you all think?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Looks good...I think you could improve them by painting it.
Also, I can't tell from the pic, but do they cover your whole wrist, or just the front and part of the hand?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Well the whole plan was to paint tomorrow. I was actually thinking of leaving it black and add a few battle marks onto them. Because my mando is going to have a tone of battle scars on the armor. And those will be glued to my right gauntlet of the armor. They wont be covering my hands or anything. Once I find another material that I am going to be using I'll tape it up and show you all what I am looking for with them.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
This costume is looking great!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
try prying one of them open to see whats inside, you can use the guts for little circuit boards, and still use the plastic, see 2 for 1. Over look NOTHING :)
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
YEAH! LETS SEE SOME GUTS! I mean uh...
Those wireless things would look really nice on gaunts. Good find!
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Alright guys....I'll show you some guts. He....no guts no glory as many would always say. But I just got back from the dentist and my mouth is numb so it will be a while before I can get some progress into the armor plates and those wireless adaptors. Thanks a bunch....I'll see what I can bring in.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I managed to grab these before my mom went and threw them away in the recycle bin. The neck part is actually part of my Guitar Hero Drumset box.

Once I get to Wal*Mart to get the supplies for painting and all I'll post photos up of the progress and hopefully the finished painted product. Which will be sometime this week. Friday I am going back into the dentist to get three more fillings so hopefully this will be done before hand.

It just means that it is surplus equipment... it can be brand new, and still be surplus. Surplus doesn't have to be old, just... excess.

I know, but ya get my meaning. I like old stuff 'cause it looks nice and worn, like a good Mando ;)
By the way, where are the gut's, gotta see the inside of the wireless receiver's. I got the same ones, but still use them for my PS2

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I don't know where the idea came from or who posted it on the boards but I managed to get to Wal*Mart and pick up some supplies for the mando armor I am making. Mod podge and some rubber cement for a $9.00 total. I'll get a photo and post it up to show you guys. More then likely I'll begin the armor stuff tomorrow and get some progress photos up.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Sounds good, nice work so far :D.
Oh yes, and let's see them guts!
WE WANT GUTS!
WE WANT GUTS!
:D

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I'll have those up tomorrow as well don't worry.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
what are you going to do with them?
also did you get your fabric for the armor build day?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Those wireless adapters I'm going to utilize them for my mando gaunts. Going to see whats inside so I can add them onto the gaunts which will be soon.
As for the fabric; no...I only had enough money to grab the Mod Podge and some Rubber Cement. Hopefully, I'll be able to sometime next week when my mom gives the money she owes me back that way I can go out and get paint and some velcro or snaps to hold the velcro against the vest. That will be probally next week. Hopefully, everything will go well during that time.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
no i meant the glues.... rubber cement will fail.
also you'll want to sew the velcro to the vest. "its the only way to be sure"
OR
put snaps on the vest and JB-weld the other part of the snap to the plates. but yours are cardboard, so im not sure how that can be accomplished. anyone want to chime in here?
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
I think 5 minute epoxy would work on the card board. As long say you sand the cardboard some so it gets the gloss off of it.
I think its funny that you are using a ps2 box as your armor.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
My neck piece is made out of plastic, and still doesn't look nearly as good as yours...
Nice work, ner vod!
Oh yes, and when you get started on your helmet.
Painting the helmet is a very personal job.
In my opinion, I wouldn't let anybody tell you what to do.
As I said, it's extremely personal, and to me it's what lets people tell me apart from other mandos when I put the armor on.
(Sorry if that got a bit too poetic)
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Then again, you've been here longer than I have, and I only started painting my helmet yesterday...
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
True about the helmet, after all this site is called 'the dented HELMET' right? It's all about the helmet.
Tomorrow I have to start on my 9 yr old's bucket.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
You all have a point there. Through my roleplay on myspace I've always had the desire of red and black for mando armor. Really, I thought there was no such thing as 'custom mandos' until I went to my first Comi-Con and saw a bunch of custom mandos walking about. Truly amazing! Then I just up and decided to make the roleplay character I have from myspace real and make some mando armor.
So red and black are my colors. And as soon as I get the helmet I'll begin the painting process. I am a huge fan of battle scars, blaster marks, and rust so expect a lot of that on my mando armor along with the red and black look.
In addition to that I'm gaining some help with my mom with the armor. She has decided to try and buy a set of PVC sentra armor for me that way all I have to do is paint. But that does not mean I'm going to quit on the cardboard armor. I'm nearly finished with it and really don't want to throw it out just yet. Heck I may even let my nephew use it. Who knows. But this is turning out really good.
Thanks for the support guys. I really appretiate it!!!!

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
i'd hold off on the sintra. as ive said before, we'll help you build it. buy a piece of 26x36 .26 gage steel from Lowes, and bring it to the armor party next saturday, and youll have a set of plates AND your vest done that day.
cost about 26 bucks for the steel (although you can just buy the aluminum sheets from home depot at the same size for less)
cost about 5 dollars for vest material
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
Sintra makes good armour, but I'd agree with Jay, get some steel (but dont get 26gauge, go with 22 gauge. You can poke dents into 26) and haul it to his or Beviin's armour party (or both) and you'll come out of it with some really nice looking armour.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
sorry.
but you cannot poke holes in 26g steel. remember steel and aluminum gages are different. 26g aluminum is really thin. that and lowes doesnt sell 22.
my last 3 sets are 26g steel. and its **** strong.
-
Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
dents, not holes...
26 gauge steel is 0.405 milimeters thick. And I was just at lowe's (the one by Fry's Electronics) and they sell 26, 22 and 16 gauge.
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...eelworks+sheet
items 3, 4 and 5 on the list.

Re: NEW! Custom Bounty Hunter Costume
dents are fine. there SHOULD be dents. heck i shoot at the plates as part of the weathering process
