Custom Mandalorian New to Cosplaying, Need Help

New Hunter
I am new to the site, and fairly new to Cosplaying/Costuming (I've only ever gotten store bought costumes). I am very interested in making my own Mandalorian armor, and I have a few questions.

1) Where should I start?
2) What would be the best materials to use?
3) What is usually the cost of making your own costume? (This is a fairly big issue for me right now)

It may be a while before I can get started, I am going to a school for the Marine Corps from May to July. I would like to go ahead and start getting the materials. Once I get started I will post about my progress and any other questions I may have. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Erik (fett90)

There are quiet a few threads on here that you can search up and find just about everything you'll need to help you with all your listed questions. (Especially making your own armour) ive seen more then enough people on here making their armour out of trash cans lately, and honestly it comes out looking superb. Its more for a budget build though.
Cost of your armour really varies on the trail and error phase you go through (as all new beginners usually do with a new hobby) just remember measure twice cut once.

A heads up on a helmet purchase, awhile ago i decided to pick up a rubies fett "supreme" lid and it was utter garbage. It ran me only around 40 bucks but for a bit more i could of picked up a fairly decent mould and painted it myself. Another good rule of thumb is you get what you pay for. Hope i was able to help out a bit bud. Good luck

Thank you, I've found a few threads that were quite helpful. I've found a couple of templates to use. I like the idea of using trash cans, it seems like the best for my budget right now. I'm thinking of using an old flak jacket to mount the cut-outs on, any thoughts on this?

And thanks for the heads up on the helmet, I was actually looking at the rubies ones.
