I am trying to use straps but they keep coming off my armor after a few min, I need to find a better glue or something.
Cer'jo, if you have Sintra to spare...then do the following.
Go buy yourself a tube of PVC or plastic epoxy, some 5/8 inch heavy duty snaps, and a set of 5/8 inch snap set pliers.
Take the sintra and cut 1-1 1/2 inch squares out of it. punch a hole in the middle, and set the male snap into the sintra. On the back of the sintra piece you just put the snap in, make several scored marks and cuts in the surface. Put your plastic epoxy on the sintra piece, then push it onto the back of the armor and hold it till it dries. Then, on the elastic your using as the strap...set the female end of the snap into it, then use some hot glue to make sure the end of the elastic doesn't fray.
Do that for all of your armor and every end of elastic. I'll post some pics on the Mercs site for you tonight so you can see what I'm talking about.
Cer'jo, check your PM's on the Mercs site.
Here's my armor done for now. Well except for the tightening of everything, I'm going to go buy the stuff to use snaps this week. I took these at LegoLand this past weekend.
Close up of my gauntlets:
I designed the 2 blades to come together at the tip to make a kind of spike.
that is looking fantastic!
the paint job came up great, as well as the gauntlets. Hope you enjoy trooping in your suit, once you put on something you made almost by yourself, best feeling in the world.
Happy hunting Vod
Well I just noticed I haven't posted any pictures of my updated armor. Hmmm... let's see I've made a couple of changes, mainly I changed him to a medic. Anyway pictures are better than words:
Actually these pictures are outdated, I've trimmed down the plates and repainted them. I'm currently working on a pack consisting of 2 bacta tanks and an oxygen tank:
I'm gonna be using this as the bacta dispenser:
Also I'm working on a better gauntlet for a Medic consisting of a display screen for vitals and such, with a flip open compartment for storing medical tools and other things, but that's just a concept right now.
That last picture is amazing.
Where is that bacta pack going to go? Your back, or you thigh like a clone medic?
Well I was originally planning on my back, but do you have any pictures of those clone medics? That thigh thing sounds really interesting.
I might be able to dig one up later today. I'll see what I can do.
Went to an anime gathering this past weekend, got to try on my new upgrades. By the end of the day it ended up worse than before My bacta tanks fell off half-way through the day, the oxygen tank fell off before I even got there, I broke my knee plates and the new hoses kept on coming loose. And that's just on my armor. On my brother's armor, his shoulder plates fell off, his quick last minute Kama kept on falling down, and all the cardboard parts fell off. Most of the problems were because I ran out of fabric glue, so I knew the velcro wouldn't last long. I'll have all these things fixed by the SDCC. Anyway, it was a lot of fun yesterday, even though it was really hot, around 96 degrees. It was so hot that my brother's and my rubies helmets were all soft and pliable . Anyway the pictures:
My tank, I added these last minute with velcro. I couldn't create a pack in time since my dremel broke, so I just decided to stick the stuff straight on to the back plate. It looks off center because my cape is on the right side, but it is centered. Also the bottom looks empty because that is where I had the oxygen tank, but it fell off as soon as we got there I did find a cool spot for it temporarily on the back of my medic bag though. Also the dispenser for the bacta and the hose fell off so I had to find another place to hold them. Also jeez talk about a work out, with both bottles on my back filled and with a medic bag full of 5 water bottles, man my shoulders were killing me the next day.
My brother and cousin waiting at the house ready to leave:
My brother and I:
My sister (with her new Pit costume she made) and my cousin:
Now the action shots:
My left knee looks weird because it had already snapped at this point:
I've made a whole bunch of minor updates to my armor, but here's one of the small but major add-ons to my helmet:
The D-ring folds inside my helmet so that you can't see it when it's not in use.
A bunch of us on the Mercs forums were talking about how in Order 66 the Mandos in the book kept on clipping their helmets to their belts, so yeah.
And some more pics:
Great pics!!!! That park reminds me the Angel Grove Park from the Power Rangers...
