NEO CRUSADER SHOCK TROOPER MASK

Hey folks,

I just started off with doing a 3D model of a shock trooper mask which I'm gonna build from scratch and then make molds of.
The mask will be wearable by elastics to fit different head sizes. The overall head and neck section will be dyed fabric for comfortable movability.

No, for my actual costume, I will use the traditional helmet. I was just wondering if I could start a neo crusader costume someday

I've just messed around with cardboard and tape and made a version of the chestplate...I think the shape is not THAT bad yet

seriously,freezing my shebs off i finished my kit today ,well as much as im gonna do for now atleast but man i looked like the stay puff marshmellow man just going out to check to see what was dry and not lol

...I don't even wanna think of how much hardener I will need to get the filler and stuff sandable ...but everything seems to develope excellent...I watched the weather yesterday and they said we would get storm within the next days... wait!..that's terrible!

I think I'll take my time in trimming a few parts and maybe do some research and cardboard stuff on the neo crusader....or should I ask my girlfriend, whether i could help her with the household??...hm....that sounds...boring

So are you using software to make 2D templates from these 3D models?

Yep...I allready tried to get the shape by eye, but I realized that it would be much more comfortable and exact doing it with the templates. Further its easier to reproduce them for anyone who's interested

You mean to build more for others? It's be better and less time consuming to just build one master and mold and cast it.

I also make my costume pieces this way, making 3D models and then 2D templates. It's a great method and better than the old trial and error scratchbuilding I'd tried in the past.

Why not have the mask be more of a Demi-helmet, with it covering the top of the head as well? That way you have a more stable base when you attach the fabric sections.

Well, thats an good idea. I see....yes. Would be much more easier to keep the whole thing in place. And probably mor comfortable to wear I guess.

Hows the Neo-Crusader armour going? i really want to get one constructed but i just havent got the time to start creating one

A balaclava (military grade) might be a good choice. You can get some ones that look rather thick, but are breathable. They'ed have a number of different colors, whith the exception of yellows and reds, but the sand or tan could be used as a "Sand gold". I don't know if you mention the color or if i missed it lol. They are sturdy and would look the part, you probably wouldn't need to add the top piece to the mask then.

As my contribution, I would recommend that you try getting some silicon rubber to make the grilled neck piece. If you want a cheaper option then there's always latex.

You would need to make a mold to get the shape right though.

The part that looks like its a heavy duty zipper area under the chin and down? You don't think the rubber would break apart? Maybe just a bunch of little round plastic pieces. I don't know how they would stick on there, but hey, whatever works.
