My Shock Mando Progress. (updated 04-08-08)
Well I have started on the plates for my custom shock Mando today. Here is what I have done so far. Just the basic chest parts. More pices to come.
P.S. - No they are not painted they are already that color. I think I am going to leave them that color too. Its a nice finish.

Here are the chest pices.

Glad you like it, that was what I was going for. I took WoF's templets stuck them together and then cut them back apart so it would be similar but different.

Should have some more pictures up either tomorrow or tuesday.
---------------------------------------------
I got a girth belt already but I forgot to post pictures, I will do that when I post the rest of the stuff up. I also finished most of my hand armor today I will post some pictures of that stuff as soon as I get some gloves to mount them on.
I found some intresting stuff at Wal-Mart today. I think I am going to go back and get some to make my flack vest. It was in the kitchen section of all places. :lol
I need another trash can before I can do the arm's, back and legs. That is going to have to wait tell pay-day.
Also, one quick question any one ever try making gauntlets/upper arm armor out of plastic cups? I was going to give it a go. Thought I might as well ask how well it works first. I may try it any way but just wonderd.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
While I was waiting for payday I went a head and worked up a possible Insignia.
I don't know if I will ever use it, I have a feeling I won't but here it is.
What do you all think.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
I have finished cutting out the sholder bells, and the custom nexk/colar armor, and a cod pice. I plan on uploading pictures as soon as I am able to find something to mount the armor on.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
I think I'd get rid of the bottom jaw on the symbol, and make the top teeth a little longer. Otherwise, it looks cool.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
I don't know if I will ever use that but I will keep that in mind to try.
Well I started mocking out my helmet last night. I am doing the work in cardboard becase I have an unlimited supply from work. For the base I found this cool bike helmet that had the shape I was looking for. I have started filling most of the holes in the head, I have several more but I am going to let them be for now. I am going for a helmet similar to one of the ones seen in shatter point. I havn't decided if I am going to just fiber glass some card board or use sentra but I will diecide that later.
Any way here is the base helemet.

And here is the work I have done on it so far.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
I pulled apart an old bike helmet at the beginning of the summer, and then wound up keeping everything, wondering if I might ever be able to use the helmet itself. Your image gave me an idea, so thanks. When I saw the helmet in the top photo while reading your post, I wondered how exactly you'd use it. Seeing the bottom image really impressed me. I really like the looks of things. Wish I could see the front! Am I seeing the visor correctly? Looks like a pretty wide opening--reminds me of the work tb1184 is doing on his Deathwatch helmet. How much custom designing is going into your bucket?
-
Re: My Shock mando progress.
Custom wise I am going to guess about half of it will be custom on the initial verson. If I ever get one cast then I am going to add hoses to the front as well. The visor is the same as the normal mando right now. I only have a small square cut in it right now so that I can look out the helmet when I have it on. I plan on working on it some more tonight if I finish this big school paper I have that I need to do .

Re: My Shock mando progress.
I think I found my small side arm that is going to go in a holster on my lower leg. (In a holster similar to the one on the bikerscouts.) I found it at the local $1 junk store. What do you all think, does it look Star Wars enough or is it to far out there?

Re: My Shock mando progress.
The gun looks cool. I would just add a scope to either the top or the side and it would look mor Star Wars. But thats my opinion.
Armor and helmet look great as well.

Haha, Star Wars was pretty good at slapping scopes on guns that never would have use for them!
You can pick up some scopes at Wal-Mart pretty cheap. I think the 4x20 BB gun scopes are $7.

Or I can make 2 nice ones for under 7 dollars. :)
Thanks for the complememnts. I am going to see about getting hold of something to mount the pices I have done on my armor next.

Re: My Shock mando progress.

About 9 inches long and 6 inches from top of the slide to the grip pummel.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
Well while cleaning out my room I found something that I had forgotten about. A custom blaster rifle I built for a contest early this spring. Its a little over a yard long and heavy as all get out but cool none the less. I think I am going to use that for my main side arm, at least tell I can get a rocket launcher built.

Two more pictures the left side of the gun and a size comparsion.

I have done some more mock work on my helmet, and will start in plastic soon. Then the crazyness starts.
I also have started on my gauntlets, I will put up some pictures once I actualy have the arm band portion done.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
Ok I finnaly have a little teaser progress photo. I am actualy farther along then this but, I don't want to spoil that part tell its done. I still have sholder, groin, and neck (little tiny part that goes between the big side ones) to attach. I still have to cut the back plates and kidney armor still and then attach that. The black fabric is my flack-vest backer. I am waiting tell I get the armor attached to trimm down the sleeves I am sort of makeing the vest up as I go. I still need to figure out how I am going to attach the sides, I am thinking zippers but I am not sure yet.
All in all I would say upper body is about 30% done as of tonight.

Re: My Shock mando progress.
Ok, well I ended up having to scrap that vest because I just couldn't get that thing to fit for the life of me. GRRRRRR. Any way I went out to look for something that would work for the vest today. Found that and I also found my lowest base layer. :) Yeay for cheap winter clearance of clothing. The base layer is a turtle neck so I am not going to have to worry about a neck seal for a while. Any way I got all the plates attached. ( I went with glue this time because I hated those snaps.)
I went ahead and threw it all on a few miniuts ago so I could see what it looked like so far. Not half bad. Still got several plates to make and my helmet to finish and figure out what sort of holster system and belt style I am going to use. But this is what it is so far.
Sorry for the grain don't know where that came from.
P.S.- Face sensed cause I am like that. If you know what I did it with good for you. ;)
