    My New Style Mando Armour

Here is my New Style Mando Armour that im working on, using Sintra. I have gone for a different look to the normal Mando Armour, but still have the same sections. Chest and Leg Armour already cut out and sanded, ready for paint job, after shaping with heat gun. Hope you like the look.

Thanks guys, Im working on my Helmet also, I have pics of how it looked when i bought it, up to how it looks now, ready for the final paint job. That too is slightly different in the way it looks. I'm not going to have a stork, just to of the same looking ears. Here is a pic of the Lid, before any work on it started.

Here is a look at the colour scheme that my lid will end up looking more like, when i get the paint this coming week, the rest of the Armour will also follow the same scheme... the blue in the back of the Helmet are cut outs, with mesh inside

I have no weapons just yet, but was thinking of scratch building a rife to use with my outfit. I'm thinking of a rifle about the same lenght as a Stormtrooper rilfe, no need for a full lenght job. At least with a ST type it can be holstered to my leg. I have found a few things around the place that look like they might work for know. I'll post some pics later today....

Well here goes, I have been working on the look of my Rifle, its been made out of Plumming pipe and sintra, with a hand grip from a tape gun. Having the tape gun reversed the plate provides a guard for the hand. The scope is just a test.... Once its all rubbed down and filled, i can under coat it then finish off with a black coat. Then weather it a little, and add more detail.

Here is a pic of my Upper body Armour, now with its final undercoat of paint. Also in this is my Helemet, all the shown Armour is now ready for the Camo Job later this week.... I had to light this pic with a lamp, (Mood-lighting) due to the poor lighting and the fact it's all black now........
Also I have added a pic showing the Armour on my brown vest, made from pleather.

I have been working on my rifles scope today, the scope is made out of part of a push bike pump, and some light fitings, with a green lens. It will now be mounted onto the the rifles left side. Also are some pics of the Scope where it will be mounted....

Re: My New Style Mando Armour

The rifle will be a duel weapon, the upper section of the rilfe will be used as a Blaster, like the Stormtroopers, and the lower section with the longer barrel section will be the Sniper rilfe used along with the Scope. I have already made the cooling holes for the blaster section, but have not added this to the rilfe yet. This part will be added after the rilfe is painted, and will show a metal mesh under it, visable though the holes. The pic below will give you an idea what I mean....... I'll keep you posted how the Weapon and the Armour is going........

I have worked on my Helmet also, it's now got its final coat of primer, and has its darker undercoat, ready for Camo look. The Helmet now has it's visor, which makes the Helmet look cool, as do all Mando's.

I have worked on a few ideas to get round my glasses problem, I first made a pair out of Sintra, I then made a pair out of Pleather .
I have now sorted this problem, and it involved using Valcro, see pics below. I can now wear my Helmet and also have Perfect sight, and still use my glasses. I have cut the arms off and fixed with a strip of Valcro. Now if asked by anyone if they wanted to try the Helmet on, I can just remove the lenses... Well it works for me......

Here is a better look at the Idea that I have for my Mando Armour, I'm hoping to get it as close to one of the following pictures as possible. You will notice that I have what might be a full lenght cape or just a waist cape, this is marked on the drawings i have made in my pc paint package in red... The Armour will be sitting on top of a light green all-in-one garment.

You know what might look better than a cape, elements of a Ghillie suit. Not a full suit because that would obscure your armor but maybe on your arms and legs where you don't have armor.

Re: My New Style Mando Armour

Instead of a regular cape, how about a large cape that acts as a partial ghillie suit? You could basically use a shoulder to calf cape in an olive drab color, then attach ghillie type strips to the back of it. It would stay out of the way when walking/running but would be useful when laying prone or leaning against a tree. You could also incorporate a ghillie hood that can be easily pushed back off the helmet, when not in use. Just a few thoughts. It's coming along nicely.

Thanks Hunter, I was thinking along those lines also about the ghillie. I was planing of using a hood also, that why I dropped the idea of the having the boba/Jango kinda rangefinder. Yes thats a great idea about having the ghillie, attached to the back of a cloak, with hood....

This is some fantastic armor, dude! I love the paint scheme and the armor vest. I can't wait to see the rest of it. Are you doing a jet pack or are you going "packless"? I love the gun, too. It's really original.

Thanks guys, well BobaFettDaddy, I'm thinking of going packless. It would only get in the way as a Sniper. I have been working on the Armour these last few days, and have gone with valcro to fix to my vest/undershirt. I have also been working on my Rifle also. The rifle only needs a few more touchs and it will be finished, also a little weathering. Below is a few pics of the rifle as it stands now. It's fun working on two outfits, you can do some on one and then have a break and work on the other. My Imperial Knight outfit is coming on well also........

Very good looking so far. I thought that since your doing a camo colored sniper, maybe you can add something like a guily suit type thing to the back or where ever, and would really really bring out the feeling of a sniper. Good job!

Re: My New Style Mando Armour

Thanks guys for your comments, I will be adding some elements of ghillie to the outfit. As for the Blaster/Sniper rilfe, it just needs a little weathering. The Armour is now marked out were im going to apply the colour scheme. I just need now to pop down the local Hobbie craft and pick up the acrilic paint needed. Then i can start the camo paint job. As I progress with it i'll add more pics......

I went down to an advanced auto parts awhile back, and they actually had in the paint section, like 3 different sprays that were meant for paioting camo. They were all under the same sub-brand. I havent used it though, but throwing that info out to you.

After looking at the Helmet, I'm going to darken the grey cheeks and stripe around the dome. I will also be adding my Sniper logo somewhere on the Helmet also, or maybe on another part of the Armour. I also need to start work on my backplate, and cod. When I have these parts ready I will post a few more pics.......

Nice camo job. Did you mask off the different colors or paint over the previous colors? Did you use an airbrush, spray paint or a bristle brush? It's coming together nicely!

I did at first think to spray the camo onto the helmet, but I ended up using a bristle brush, to paint on the pattern. I first draw the shapes onto the helmet with a lead pencil, then just paint the areas. I have changed one feature of the paint job, the Grey cheeks and stripe have been changed to a brown. I will also finish the paint job of with a matt lacker.... & thanks for you intrest Hunter.

Thanks mrgr8ness, that Blaster was just something I draw up one morning while working on my Armour. I then found the parts I needed and took it from there. And thanks Kantis, my Sniper logo just hit me one late nite. So I drew it on a scrap of paper before I forgot the idea... it's turned out well. And chewiepal, there will me much more, to come as I work on my Sniper look.... ........

I agree that brown looks better than the gray. The gray reminded me of primer, plus the brown goes with the other earth tones whereas the gray did not. I like the logo. It looks like a different kind of scope reticle. Very original. Great work! Are you planning on doing solid clothing or camo? I think solid would look best. More camo would make it too busy looking unless it looked like the entire thing, armor, clothing, soft parts & all were designed as one piece. Either way you go, it will be good. Awesome work on the paint job!!!

    Keep us posted man.

Well my Mando Helmet is almost finished, Today I have added the mess to the small vents in the face of the Helmet, and the back. Below is some pics of how it looks, taken from the ouside and inside of the helmet. All I have now to finish on the Helmet is the padding inside, now the visor is hot glued in place...

Re: My New Style Mando Armour

I have been giving the cod piece idea some thought. Well the standard cod armour is kind of used over and over again for Mando's, but don't get me wrong, they look great. As a Sniper I think a modifided cod is needed, well for my outfit that is...... so I have decided to try out something that works for me... The drawing done on my laptop, which I have added to this post... In the design you will notice that there are sections of the cod that is sitting on a blue type mesh. That mesh will be part of my ghillie, the smaller sections of the cod that are in camo paint job will be hot glued to the ghillie. This will give movement to the cod. This will help if I need to hit the deck fast, while targeting an ememy........

I have just finished my Sniper Mando Helmet. I have just lined the inside with 3mm thick foam, and blackened the rim area. And I have also layered the checks with 3 layers of the foam, so it will not move around too much when being worn. Well the Armour will also be finished, when I have completed the cod section... here is some pics of the indside of the Helmet completed..
