The soft parts, is the next thing, Im thinking Black or Olive Green... I have a black all in one, that don't look too bad. But Im going to try it also with a Green..... thx digital509. :albino
The soft parts, is the next thing, Im thinking Black or Olive Green... I have a black all in one, that don't look too bad. But Im going to try it also with a Green..... thx digital509. :albino
I have now completed my Cod Armour, after cutting out the smaller sections I have now hot glued them to a piece of black fabric. Here is how it looks.....:albino
Awesome! Looks similar to Zam's leather skirt. Looking forward to seeing it all put together!
Too tell the truth, I have not paid that much attention to Zam's outift. But Its the most functional cod I think to work with my outfit. But thanks for the intrest... Im still waiting for a few things to arrive in the post before I can have a full outfit test.... when I do I'll post some pics... :albino
Looks interesting, way to think outside the box. Since the number of UK mandos is on the rise I may have to stop over there sometime.
Yeah Kantis, That would be cool to hook up at some event here in the uk Sniper to Sniper..... My Ammo belt arrived today, I have modded it a little and added a holster for a pistol... Pics are before modding, will post modded later.........:albino
Looking sharp man! I love that modified codpiece design. Much easier to move around I would assume.
Yeah JoNich, my Cod armour sure feels nice, and im not likely to run into any pain while Sniping. Im thinking of attaching the ends via elastic to keep it extra stable under the belt. I might even create a gerth underbelt... p.s I love what you have done with your Lid........:albino
Great work man! I'm torn between doing a custom Mando with a camoflage theme and doing a Boba Fett. Boba Fett is more recognizable, but accuracy and weathering challenges are drawbacks for me. I don't want to look like some schmuck in a ****** home-made costume, but I can't sink hundreds of dollars into professionally crafted helmets and accessories.
I would have to agree with you there Southern hunter, Doing a Boba is also a lot of work. There is so many things you need to get to look right. I was going to make a Boba, but thought i'd try a custom first.... thanks for your coments, and to all that coment.....:albino
After working on the slight modding to the Ammor belt, I have take a few pics to so you... I have moved the ammor pouches round to the front of the belt, and not on the sides. That way all the pouches are within reach, and functional..... plus my holster sits on my right side just great..........:albino
Where the Ammor belt meets in the center, I have applied to some valcro to each side to seal the two together. This way they hide the belt locking clips behind, thus making it look like one big row of ammor pouches... heres how it looks........:albino
While I was playing with the Ammor Belt, I tried out the Cod Armour under the belt. It works better than I thought it would, and its very comfortable too, which is a good thing.... here is a pic...... :albino
Well I have now added to my Mando arsenal. I was thinking of using my scratch built rifle, but I had a slight mishap with it. I dropped it by mistake... the damage was not bad, and I have fixed it... Dropping it made me think that tho it looks good, I needed something a little stronger. So I visited a local market today and bought a replica rifle and pistol, and I will be using that to go with my outfit... While there I also picked up my side arm also.... here is some pics off the net of them... I will post some real pics in the morning...... :albino
I will be adding a better scope to the rifle, and loosing the mag. The Pistol will also feature a better scope also.... More pics too follow....:albino
Sunday boaring sunday, nothing much to do. So I have now got a few pic of my Armour that has now been put on my vest. I have used hot glue to mount the armour in place. The first pic shows the vest and armour on a hanger, the second its on me...... :albino
Can't wait to see it all assembled on your personage, how close to completion would you say you are, Valcar? Still 90%?
I'm still waiting to get a few bit and bobs Zivilin Bane, but it won't be that long before I can say that it's a done deal. I will still keep you all updated as I get ever more closer to the finish... I'm working on the softparts, and slight modding to the new weapons.... more to updates to follow, thanks for all your intrest and kind comments..... :albino
I now have my undersuit for my Mando. I have tried it with a black one, but I have found the green is much better. I'm now not sure about the brown pleather vest. Im thinking about using a more cooler kind of vest. I was thinking of using a fabric vest, that would breath more than pleather... well all the same, here is a pic of the undersuit with the vest on top..... what you think.. ? :albino
nice armor, cause its camoed into your body! took me a sec to see the armor. looks like it's going well, but something is missing. its in progress so i bet the "missing" part will get filled.
Nice job, i like cloth vests. i made one and its feels nice and breathes.
Thanks Marx, yes a few things are still missing, but im waitng to get my Gauntlets from Bradleyfett, he's working hard at the mo. Im still waiting for some netting to arrive from the US. But I still have loads of minor bits to sort out. Im thinking of using a Black or dark Green vest, that way the armour would stand out more on the spruce green undersuit. I need a better camara also, hehe......:albino
Black sounds good. or maybe a grey. Fett has major color diffrance in his armor and vest, blakc could do that and tie in the black parts... just a thought
I have been working on my Vest, and i have found that in keeping with Camo, that my Olive green vest works very well. The Armour does not jump out on you, but in fact blends nice with the theme of camo. My black Ammo pouches and belt along with the black backing to the cod armour works well. I will update with some pics soon...... :albino
Looking good! IMHO, the green vest would be fine with the camo armor plates. The different colors of camo would give you some contrast with the green vest. After all, the whole point of camo is to blend into the surroundings. That is one very creative custom Mando. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for you comments S-Hunter. The outfit is coming on great, the finishing touch will be the gauntlets when I get them. Until then all I can do is sort the minor details, and the soft parts. All I need to do now is fix the Armour to my Olive green vest, and attach the straps/elastic to my leg armour. When I get my ghile netting I can start attaching that to my back Half-Plate. Also slighty mod my weapons to look more starwarys...... so its going well......... :albino
Well I have now started the weathering stage of my Armour its not finished yet but here is a few pics of how its going..... I will be adding dirt splashing and stuff soon...... :albino
The Armour has been dry scuffed and sracthes dug into one of the chest plates and belley plate. The pics are not too clear, cos the camara is not too good, but you get the idea... I'll be adding the dirt marks and finer detail over the next few days.... I'll keep you updated as i go.......... :albino
I suggest adding some depth to it by adding dents and perhaps chest display lights.
Thanks for your coments jo, I will also be adding a dent here and there to parts of my Armour, I also have my Back plate to work on.. Thats going to have a few dents in it, from where I was evading an attack from some enemy forces, after Snipping there leader... hehe...... :albino
I have been working today on some more weathering to my Armour here is some picks of the left Chest plate. It's been dirtied up and a dent added....:albino
And some work on the Right chest plate, the marks were made with a screw driver ........ :albino
Here is the work on the Belley Armour..... :albino
Also this is the work on the collar and center section..... :albino
and finaly for now, here is the work on the Half-Back Plate. On a few missions, I was struck in the back buy a few shots..... Being a hard mando, I surrvived.... hehe ..... :albino
I will now get to work on weathering my Helmet a little, then do the same on my Leg Armour. I will keep you posted...... :albino
Just had a brainwave, and that don't happen oftern. I have did a little tweek to my weathering to my Back Plate and the collar Armour.. I have now made an entry hole and an exit hole in the collar, this is were I was shot and the round passed right through my Armour and body... check out how it turned out,,,, what you think ?... me I think it looks cool... a war wound, and a battle scar to the Armour.... :albino I held the back plate up so you can see the glow of my tv though the hole...
Thanks morpheus1977, for your comment.. I made the holes by heating up my craft knife with the heat gun till it was very hot. The found were I was going to cut into the sintra, and then pushed it though making a 10cm X mark in the Armour, on both Armour sections.. I then heated up the sintra and just pushed my Index finger though the same hole. For the Collar Armour I push from the inside outwards, and for the Back Plate Outside inwards... It's turned out very good I think. All I had to do then was paint the metal effect on all the forced surfaces to look like damaged metal.... I will now work on my Leg Armour over the next few days, and will keep you all posted.... :albino
Your weathering looks great, and the hole is very unique, but looks great!! I think this has got to be the photo heavy thread!!! great updates...keep it up!!
Great progress pics!!
I have not had much time these last few days to do much with this project. But I will be doing some work this weekend on my soft parts... will update with pics after I have finished.. :albino
I thought I would get off mu butt and do the weathering on my Helmet. Man that has to break your heart, to have to rough up something you have spent loads of time on to get looking good. But enough of that here are some pics of how it looks now. The pics don't show them total amount of scuffing up that has been done, but it is shown in natural daylight.... :albino
I have spent the better part of today to working on my leg Armour weathering. Below is some pics of the way it turned out, here is the thigh Armour..... :albino
here is the shin Armour...... :albino
Here also is the Knee Armour, the close up is of the left Knee .......... :albino
You may have noticed with all the Leg Armour the elastic straps. They were run though 2 slits made in the armour on each side, and the elastic was thread though and hot glued together to seal them.... Here are the pics from the strapped sides of all the Armour I have used this methord on..... Thighs, Shins, knees, Cod & Back Plate.......:albino
Today I have spent a little time doing some more weathering to the back plate, and also did the weatering on the shoulder bells.... here is how it all turned out.......:albino
I have been doing some work now on my softparts, I have got a spruce green overall. I have gone to town on my overall with some Black spray paint. The pictures are not that clear on the detail, but I have a new camara coming... so the pics will be better soon... Here is a pic of the overall....:albino
I have also now cut out my ghile/camo netting to make my cloak that will be worn under the Backplate.. Also is the removable hood that can be pulled over my Helmet if needed or tucked away in a pouch.. I have placed a rough Helmet image on top of the hood to show a rough idea of how it will sit.... :albino
The ghile/camo net I think works ok with the Helmet.. The net can be pulled over the Helmet, but I think it looks best in the pics below..... what you think ? :albino I have taken a pic with the Helmet on and on without..
PLEASE, PLEASE wear that hood when you come over to my place tomorrow :p
After a few set backs, and trial runs with all kinds of different cloak idea's, I think i've cracked it. The Ghile/Camo netting has worked out better that I had invisioned... I cut out around a cloak of mine, to get the shape needed. And then attached an elastic strip from shoulder to shoulder, at the neck section that I could drape around my neck across my front collar. The fit the back plate over it. Here is how it turned out..... hope you like it....... :albino
I now have some of the first pics of how my Armour will look on my vest, I have attached the Armour by using magnets. I did try them using a black vest but they stood out too much. So I think im going to use my olive green one.. here are some pics of how it looks.... :albino
That looks amazing so far. I love the cloak idea.
Thanks BigJon, I did try a few ideas for the cloak drape and this one works the best. If I was to kneel down i can rape the cloak around my lower body, which would work well while snipping in woodland areas... hehe..:albino
Today has been a perfect for outdoor spaying, so spray i did. I have been working on my weapons today, to make them look more starwarsy. The way they looked is on a post earlyer in this thread, but I do now have the way they look now.... dusting is a great way to get that metal kind of look and here are my main fire arms, I aslo have a pump action as a back up....... :albino
Here is my Rifle an M85. It still can fire 6mm plastic balls, but when trooping or attending any events the mag and balls will never be used. Here are some close up pics of my Rifle....... :albino
Here also is are some close up pics of my side arm..... :albino
And not to forget my trusted back up, my pump action..... just in case...:albino
Very nice job on the armor, and I really love the gun! Props all around.
Really like the blasters. Keep up the good work!!!
Well my Gauntlets have arrived, not the ones that bradleyfett is making for me, those ones will be used on my Second Mando outfit that I will be doing soon. I have a set of Frank'n'sons gauntlets that I got today. I will start the paint job on them over the next few days... I will update with before and after pics soon. Then after that I will get a good pic of how the complete outfit looks like soon after.... :albino
Well here is my FNS Gauntlets before I did my Camo paint job on them....:albino
And this is how they look after they have been rubed down and primered black then the Camo paint job done.... I will update with weathered pics soon... then after that I'll update with a few pics of the complete outfit...:albino In these pics I have not fixed the rocket on, that will go on after the weathering is done..:albino
Well the Gauntlets are now finished, and here is how they look now.....:albino
Here are some more pics of the left Gauntlet with its weathering completed..:albino
Here are the weathered pics of the right Gauntlet.... :albino
The next update I will add to this tread will be the pictures of how the complete outfit has come together. I will be getting a friend of mine on Friday to take some shots... and I will also be sending off the required pics for the outfit clearence for Trooping..... :albino
CHEESE AND CRACKERS!! :eek That is one wicked looking suit! I haven't checked this thread in a while and MAN what progress! Dude, I'd be very careful in public with that suit and that kind of hardware. I don't know about the Bobbies in the U.K. but our South Carolina cops would sh!t a brick if they saw you in that gear! :lol
Well, now, let me rethink that. If it was in the middle of deer season, they'd just do a double-take on the plate armor. Mossy Oak and Realtree are the unofficial casual wear of the South during deer and turkey season.
Seriously, that is one wicked looking mando sniper you got there. I like the backup weapons, too.
If you get a chance to take some pix in natural sunlight, they will come out a lot better than those indoors. The flash tends to do weird things to pictures indoors.
Great work! Looking forward to more pix!
Well Easter is here, and I hope you have a great one. Well my photo shoot went well at work today at Costco. I made the MD jump when he saw me walking thought the office... he has recovered now, and though my outfit was "Way Cool" his words.... anyway here is a load of pics of my now completed outfit.... enjoy......:albino
Here is a few more fun shots while at work and outside at work..... One of the shot is at my workstation, look like someone has upset the Mando on the phone..... :albino Well this outfit was a joy to make, now i can get back to my Imp Knight, then start on Mando 2... :albino
This is the last few updates on this one, I have put my last touch to this outfit. In the shape of the shoulder bell logos.... Here is the left shoulder bell..:albino
And here is the Right shoulder bell...... I would like to thank everyone who has made comments and shown intrest in this project.... thank you all TDH..:albino :skull
can you get into a prone position in that suit? it would be sweet to see a series of shots with the camo hood on hidden in the underbrush then bringing yourself into view
Outstanding job. The camo is very uniform, and I know that there is no way in hell I would have the patience to do that =D
My first outing in public as my Sniper Mando and I bag an Alien..... Now thats a bounty....... Picture from todays outing at Collectormania 11... :skull
awsome! Thats pretty kool!
Here is a great pic from the event, on the left is Shadow UK and me on the right...... :skull
This looks fantastic! I absolutely love the design. Great work!
What a dirty pair =D
Looking good Valcar got to admit You designed that Brilliantly, Looks awesome but Doesnt the through-and-through jab into your shoulder?
Thanks BobaFettDaddy we both worked hard on our Mandos. Yours look great also... ;)
Te Tay'haai The through-and-through is a slight discomfort, but you would be amazed how fast you forget about it. But its a great joy when it comes off..... hehe. Im also going to drop the metal sheet the armour is attached too via magnets, for the look Shadow UK has with the industrial valcro system. Cos, i found i could not sit down correctly, so i had to stand, and troop all day on me feet..... But like a true Mando, I did it.... :skull
Im not suprised your glad when its off I wouldbe be suprised if a hole Really was in your shoulder after trooping with it...And Just Tay'haai Please It Means "The Archivist" and you wouldnt call anyone "The" Would you? heh
Nice job guys! Have you thought about leather ammo belts? I think it would look great w/ your suits.
I was really contemplating Velcro or snaps. In the end I went with snaps, but Velcro would have been much easier.
I found that the metal plate that I was using to hold my chest Armour on was very restrictive, and turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. So after a little time and money, I followed Shadow UK's idea and have used valcro.... Also after attaching my chest Armour to my new vest, I was able to heat up the sintra and shape the Armour for a better fit... Collectormania 11 was a great test platform for working out the bugs with the outfit.
Here is 2 pics of how new fitting has turned out..... :skull
Well I have had a return email form KOTE and it looks like this Mando will not be trooping as a KOTE member. It seems that the this outfit is fall outside the mark on almost everything apart from its ammo belt. Well I am making a few changes to this outfit. But It would seem that to pass the Mark I would have to do too much to this look just to Troop. I had alway thought that CUSTOM ment just what it said... I am fed up with everything having to be judged but Boba, and the Jango look.
Any changes that I make to this outfit is for comfort and to improve the vision I had for this Sniper Look.
You could say that I'm a little unhappy with the email that I received. After all the hard work made to this outfit. You know these things cost money and time, as you all know.
Don't get me wrong I'm open to comments on my work, but not when it's going to take major re-working just to fit into some kind of level, just to pass.
I just don't understand how wrong my outfit is, at Collectormania 11, I can't count how many good comments I got from none Star Wars people on how good it looked, not to forget the high demand for pics with children and adults alike......
Well my changes to this outfit in the last 2 weeks are for the better. :skull
Ho Hum, Life goes on....
I can't say just what I was told about my outfit, but lets say that the only thing that seemed to be ok was my ammo belt.... but I'm not letting that end this outfit at all.... Like I also said i'm still making some changes to it, but these changes are more for me than anyone els. And after all this outfit is real work with real material, not carboard or the like....
Anyway onwards and upwards..... ;) :skull
kyram is right, if you look through all the different sorts of mando armor...the T visor is really the only thing that sticks through all the different sets...i think your suit looked great
Thanks TantiveIV, and thanks Kyram. You are both right about the T-Visor being the one thing that says the same in look amoung all Mandos.... :skull
I wouldn't worry about what other people think or say about your masterpiece. If you are happy with it, then isn't that all that matters? I have always thought that your armor is one of the most individually distinct sets of armor out there. You shouldn't be judged on what others "deem" mando to look like. To me that's just elitism on their part by trying to control your look, but meh...it's their club and not ours eh?
Anyhow, don't let it bring you down...and in the words of Arnold: "To hell with them!"
I have been following this thread for awhile and have to say that your vision is awesome. Keep up the great work.
yeah, Valc, I didnt bash your costume,, dont take it so.
Thanks Cylrul Pbz, your coment was not taken as a Bash... I was just a little, well more than a little ticked off after some of the things in the email I got, but like you all have said from your comments though out this project, you all like the style and I like the style also, so thans to all of you Wildabeast, NovallTalon, SarlaccBits, and many more... :) :skull
