My Llats Ward endeavor

Cruzer

Well-Known Hunter
Hi guys,
I don't think I've ever posted here, so it's a pleasure to finally have something worthy of this forum. However, I've been a long time lurker and the work here is great!(y)

Well, I'm considering putting together a Llats Ward suit for this year's San Diego CC and was wondering what flack vest was thought best to use for this suit: leather Jango vest or Boba style vest?

Thanks to some great guys and very good friends of mine (Slavefive, Postmortem, and Dark-Side), I'm starting out with the items pictured below, and will build from there over the next months. In the pic is a screen cast Jango helmet, some seconds from my Jango gauntlet run, and a Hyperfirm Lewis gun. The gun was generously given to me by Slavefive as a gift for helping him with some home repairs, and is so awesome that it's probably the #1 reason I chose to build this suit...so I could troop with it.(y)

I've already talked to BM about an ROTJ jumpsuit, as well as BKBT about some Jango upper body armor...both look like they're a GO! I also plan to use a second of one of my Jango backplates, and would like to get either a pair of Star Fortress ESB Boba boots or find a pair of black leather alternates. I'd like to stay with leather for the boots. I also have a pair of Seeker Jango knees, however, I think it'd be neat to also have a pair of MOW's rubber Boba knees to be more accurate with the toy figure. I'm also hoping to pick up some nice WWII leather pouches for the girth belt, and the pouches seen on the left shoulder. Other than that, small things like shin tools, gloves, cape, etc. look to be easy to come by with stuff found around town.

Let me know if any of that doesn't seem like the right choice/s to accurately bring this character to life and possible 501st approval. And any advice and opinions about the flack vest or anything else for that matter...like the cylindrical looking things on the ab-plate...is much appreciated! (y)

Included a pic robbed from ebay of the figure I'm using as my only reference. I need to pick up one on ebay for hands-on studying.;)

Thanks and I look forward to working on this project here!

Yeah, I can't wait to begin painting, assembling, etc., but for now I'm going to try and exhibit some patience (good luck) and just start collecting the parts. We'll see how that goes, I'll probably be trimming and sanding as soon as the upperbody armor gets here!;)

Yeah, I agree, I think a Jango leather vest might be the best way to go!
As for his belt, it looks like a Jango style girthbelt with some cloth pouches attached at the sides, but what I don't understand is what's in the front?

If anyone knows what that's supposed to be in the front of his girthbelt, please do tell.

I'm pretty sure its supposed to be just like this guys belt...

In the illustration it kinda look like a small pouch. You can tell by the little button its got on it.

Cruzer, cool! I've been wondering about the belt too. I'm not sure if it's all leather or any canvas pouches? I used Mark Bradley's knees, and I think they're a good size. Oh, and yes I'm totally jealous of that Lewis gun!

Weird thing is, the action figure doesn't seem to have a flack vest. But I think you would have to use one, because all the other Mandos do.

Here's some pics of my progress so far. Good luck, and PM or email me if you want to talk details. (y) We could switch off at SDCC as Llats.

For those canister like things on the ab plate, you could use sections of PVC. Either with or with out caps. (on one or both ends)

Wow, upon further review, it seems to me that "Llats" Ward may be none other that the mighty Burt Ward. See for yourself!(y)

I have way too much time on my hands...now back to the current thread already in progress...

hansoloway, yeah, you do!

MandalorFett, dang, you beat me to it! Your progress is looking good! And yeah, that blaster is something else, I feel very lucky to have it...given to me no less by such a generous friend! There's one currently on ebay if you feel like making a run for one...I'd hate to show up at SDCC with a bigger gun!;)

I have yet to get the figure, so any ref. pics you have would be much appreciated. I'll shoot you a PM.

The more I study the figure and compare it with the others in the collection, the more I think a Boba style vest would be best because it's not as apparent as on some of the other figures.

I also noticed the chest armor is a different cut than either Jango or Boba. However, the shoulder armor looks Boba to me.(y)

You're right the chest armor is a different cut, but I'm too far along, and not skilled enough to change it.

I'll check ebay for the auction you mentioned, thanks. (y)

I'll shoot you all the pics I've got of Llats, and I can take some more of my Llats action figure for you too. (y)(y)

I've seen your son's suits...your skilled enough!
I think my email is listed in my profile, so here it is: Lorenzo_Cruz1@msn.com

I'll pick up the figure here pretty soon so no need for a lot of pics, maybe just a few of the back would be helpful. I wonder if there are any illustrated versions like in comic books or artist interpretations.

Thanks for the pics bro. They were so detailed it was like real life.(y)
It'll be fun trooping together at SDCC.
Did you make your armor? I'm thinking about making my own and trying to replicate the design on the figure. If I can, I'll be making molds so I can replicate them in fiberglass and make multiple copies.

My armor is from MB. Email coming your way this evening.

Glad you liked the pics. (y)

Oh, and the collar on the jumpsuit is like Jango's.

Did some work on the helmet. I'll probably add some more real world damage, but I don't want to stray too far from the action figure. The helmet was supplied by and cleaned up by GCNgamer (thanks buddy!), then I painted it. I'll add the stalk and RF later.

Cruzer, any more progress?

The helmet is looking great Jim! Sorry I forgot to give you the RF, I'll mail it to you.

Did you get my PM?

That's looking freak'n beautiful buddy. (y)
Actually, I'm still waiting on all of my parts, however, ever since I found out you had the Ward suit covered, I've been considering the Priest suit...if nobody's started that one that is.
I'm still undecided so we'll see.
Your progress is looking good though.(y)(y)

Cruzer if your looking to switch characters, i would like to see you do a MIJ GILAMAR. I think you could make it look great.

That IS a very cool suit, and if I'm looking at getting a jp and dc now, then it could easily be done. Part of my decision was wanting to do a suit nobody else had or was in the process of attempting. So we'll see.
