    My Jodo Kast

Below is where i'm currently at with my 'Jodo on a budget' build.
I started out with the intention of a RotJ Boba, then changed my mind..the universe need's more Jodo's.
Lid is getting there & some work on Knee's/shoulders. Grenades 'nearly' done too.

    Getting there.

No rush for me, taking my time & enjoying it.

Bit like playing Everquest all over again (Anyone ever play that?). I had guildmates running around like dememted chipmunk's, levelling while I travelled & explored.

    Loved every minute of it.

Grabbed a rear pushbike brake cluster today for the chest display & Gautlet LED. Pics to follow.

Borden Connector also sat in the mold (Was that for a visor 'quick release'?)

Everquest, lol... I will never forget that one. I heard through the grapevine that it is still around, and you can play for free starting today.

Nice work on Jodo, man. Looks great!

Re: My Jodo Kast *Budget build*

    Hey Trout, thanks fella.

Yes it went F2P today, I honestly don't know if I can get dragged back into that kind of Game....lifes moved on you know.
I think it was always about the social side of it for me. The Banter, EC Tunnel, Corpse Runs on the planes etc.
Back when you needed to know your class inside out & actually play it well, a truly sadistic unforgiving world.
None of this glowing exclamation marks for quests & minimap hand holding...

Small Update on some bit's today.

I started work on the 'extra' Gauntlet Darts.

Ignore the paint, that's merely an undercoat. The Darts will also re revamped, I'll be making a Milliput housing for it.

LED for the other Gauntlet also in place + clear Braided hose for both enroute.

Lights for Chest Display & Gauntlet LED also purchased, Birthday card (Clinton's) & Rear pushbike LED (Poundland).

Borden Connector also in place, just needs paint.

Jumpsuit + spats dyed, may go darker, will see how it looks on with the rest of the kit once weathered.
& started prep work on the basket case EE-3. Braided hose also arrived for Gauntlet's.

I really like your battle scarring around the metal showing and how you spread them across the armor (it feels natural and realistic). I would like to see the way you spread the darker shades of scorching on the helmet like you did on the shoulder pads for variety in hues across the helmet.

Just my two cents but I think it's a fantastic job thus far and keep up the good work! Can't wait to see it done!

Thanks for the feedback Arch, appreciate it.

Are you saying that you would like to see me use a darker tone on the lid or are you asking me how I did it?

Tbh, I was concerned that maybe I overdid the shoulder/knee's. 'Less is more' & all that.

    Re: My Jodo Kast

I'm asking if you can spread that scorching more so on the lid like you did with the knee pads and shoulder pads. They feel very worn and seen a lot of heat, I like that. I'd like to see more of that style in the helmet as well.

Same goes for the gauntlets. You put so much into the helmet and the pads the gauntlets appear flat to me in comparison to the rest of your fantastic get up! Sorry if I was unclear before. Keep it up!

    Re: My Jodo Kast

    Ahh gotcha!

I see what you mean. I'll revisit the lid then as to date the feedback has been very positive.
The comic seemed to vary greatly between the individual artist's interpretation's at times + I didn't want to overdo it.

The gauntlet's aren't done at all yet, that was merely scorching testing on the flamer & an undercoat.
Since I decided to go for new dart's & an extra set up on the other gauntlet, I'm constructing the housing (with milliput) before the paint get's a look in.

    They'll be just as worn.

+ thanks again, appreciate the feedback.

With the EE-3, you need to remove the trigger guard and off-set the scope from the 12 o'clock position to the 10:30 position. The sling is also attached differently (assuming you're getting one).

I really didn't want to use the hybrid E-11 weapon he's using on Nal Hutta & it didn't quite feel right using an off the shelf EE-3.

'Too Short', you could've just nailed it, thanks fella. You know it's funny.... you spend so long looking at something you sometimes miss the obvious.

I'll have a play & see what I can come up with. (Sling will be present).

    Small update -

Cast another Knee dart as Jodo has Four, as opposed to Three that it appears Boba uses.

Finished the housing the for Gauntlet 'knee' Darts & "Blue Peter'd" some temp smaller Dart's (x4) on the gauntlet's too.
(They're actually Four tips from BIC Biro's, I figured what the hell... they'll do until I can get some decent ones).

    Time to paint them up....

Gauntlet's done bar the Electronics & Fuel/Compression lines.

Braided hose filled with coloured water for the Fuel line to Flamer unit, not sure which one I prefer as of yet.

Hey Scar! Love the improvements you made to the gauntlets. The battle damage really made a difference!

IMO; I think the red and yellow would look the best! Jodo's outfit has very little red in it (out side from his jetpack). The red hose would be a nice way to spread that isolated color out a little more throughout the rest of the suit. And the yellow would looks good since, well, Jodo has more yellow compared to Boba's red lol.

Just my opinion though! Good work on the gaunts again!

Thanks guys & totally with you on the Red, it would bring a nice bit of colour to the show.
I'll add more drops to bring it really out.

What is the general feeling on the fuel/air lines ?

I'm working on the assumption that one of them had something visible in it & would it have been air or armoured power coupling for the others?

    Thanks RkD.

Due to RL, Trooping, work, family.... you know the drill - it's been awhile & nothing too exciting i'm afraid....

Buttons on back of Lid + some further Battle Damage.

Filed down stock of EE-3, removed trigger guard + started on hand grip

Relocated Scope to 10:30 position + rebuilt barrel end.

Cast first Belt Greeblie. The Hose connects onto the belt then joins the Gauntlet @ Flamer (Compresser unit for Flamer)???

Again, I've used a bit of artistic license...

Small update but one that I found amusing....

While working on my Frag Grenades (before I cast them from resin) I realised that I needed to alter the tops, this guys head was the perfect diamater.

Belt Greeblie is also taking shape (upside down on preview for some reason) -

I will get my *** into gear & get this finished, promise

    Thanks Snowie

I got them from Ebay - i'll pm you the link. Have you considered filling them with Electric Blue food colouring? Works a treat & looks nicer than paint (imo).

JW - see my reply on your own wip fella - I used/made as many of my own parts as I could find lying about as i'm doing this build on a tight budget.
Also, I'm in England so a lot of part's mentioned we simply don't get over here.

This evening the first Grenade was cast.
This is a modified kid's Grenade that needed both ends switching out to get away from the GI look & (hopefully) make it appear suitably 'Sci-fi'.
Using the Scout Snout Greeb & the Medical Droid head seemed to work well enough.
Be easier to tell for sure once it's got some colour.

Also started the Mando image on the Shoulder plate (minus outline).

We do not have a 'Radio Shack' here in England so I've made most of this from bit's & bob's lying about (a CD Case, Phone jack, Scout snout greeb, Battery, terminal connector's & a Vitamin bottle).

    Thanks Ted.

Started cleaning up the rocket + have decided to put a dowel in the middle for the fins to float as per the comic.
(This should also strengthen them as they're pretty flimsy).

Grenades done bar the pull pin & then to secure them to the Ammo Belt.

Girth belt dyed badly so I'll strip it back & try again. I'll be covering the Leather belt in a Grey material wrap & spray the pouches grey.

Back & Kidney plate (RkD) arrived, so cleaned them up & Primed them.
Quick question, should they meet as the kidney piece seems tiny & out of proportion to the cod, did you reshape yours to fit?
Do people connect them on a velcro belt type closure?

    One for fun

A friend finished the sidearm holster in some quality leather.

Shame I can't jutify a Pulce quite yet so a Zapper wil have to suffice for now....

    Sling for Ee-3 to follow.

If anyone knows where I can get some screws to connect the sling (Chicago I believe?) & the price won't royally shaft me, i'd appreciate a link.

You want what kind of screws? To connect the O ring to the EE3? If thats what you need all you want to get is a swivel for a rifle. They even sell kits at walmart that have them in it...sling swivel in the guns section. Small box, like...Amazon.com: Allen Company Sling Swivel Set for 1-Inch Slings with Hardware for Bolt Action Rifles: Sports & Outdoors

Please PLEASE do something with the blaster mod it to at least not have a hole in the bottom. Paint it up a little.

    Re: My Jodo Kast

Really happy with the holster, it's very good quality & feels good too.
Collar studs cast & some flapjack packaging seems to be ideal for the handgrip on the weapons....again, a w.i.p within a w.i.p.

Ee-3 : The sling is proving to be a pain as I can't quite decide where it looks best (situated as per the Pic seems a no brainer, though it's not really practical).

Rocket : The Resin fins & really flimsy so they've been reinforced with a dowel rod through them (they also move and I'll probably take them out for transit to protect them as best as I can). Extra collar pieces made to strengthen the rocket topper.
I'm also trying out the Droid head's (again) for the Stabiliser beacon & lollipop. Will see how that pan's out.

Apologies to all the purist's out there but the budget was always the major factor in this build.

    Re: My Jodo Kast

I think you being as crafty as you appear to be could make that stock heaftier....its not bad looking at all just front heavy.

The build is looking good so far. I think over time you can upgrade things for sure. Im on the fence as to the weathering really. Its nice looking but not sure if its overboard or not. I may have done a similar style to Bobas weathering to make it look like one of the movie suits. Although it looks realistic it doesnt have the Star Wars feel to it to me.

But like I said its nice looking. And your doing a great job on it. I really like all the attachments and such you have and that zapper better stay hidden in that holster

    Re: My Jodo Kast

I see what you mean about the stock, i'll see what I can fashion.

To be honest i'm not 100% on the weathering either. I may well scale it back as I feel with the body armour it's crossed the line of 'Less is more'.
I was always of a mind that Boba could use more weathering....Jodo, somewhere in between. I'll see how it looks when together.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

    Re: My Jodo Kast

    After some help please folks.

    B. Kast carries a standard sidearm, which closely resembles the Bespin security guard weapon.
Upon further research, it was determined that a Fett ESB sidearm is the exact same weapon.
Maybe i'm going mad here but the ref pic I have of this indicates it is not a Pulce 40. The sidearm used in the pic clearly has a scope.

I am at work right now & am relying on a bad pic rather than the magazine itself.
Anyone have a copy of the Twin Engines Of Destruction to hand please, post the shot up?

    Can anyone clarify?

    Re: My Jodo Kast

I'm no Jodo expert, but I can show some images from the comic book you mentioned earlier.

Here is a better quality of your image:

    jodo-kast-02.jpg

Edit: He's holding the sidearm in his hand.
(Original line - He's holding the blaster in his hand and not the sidearm.)

A cool close-up of the whole suit:

    jodo-kast-01.jpg

He has a Boba Fett like blaster and sidearm.

In this image, Jodo is using the sidearm:

    jodo-kast-03.jpg

Note that the images were cleaned, and by cleaning I mean the dialoge bubbles were removed, this way the end result is slightly changed, especially the background.

    I hope this helps!

    Rafal

Thanks a tonne mate, that's the shot I wanted.

As far as I can make out that's clearly a scope on the side & a grenade on the front. Not a Pulce 40.

As such I think i'll stick with my Zapper as it'll be a lot easier to mod.

    Early mod shot....

    Have a good New years!

    Re: My Jodo Kast

You are right! He's holding the sidearm in that image (text already edited in my post) and it looks different from the Boba Fett sidearm. Keep up the great work!

Have a Happy New Year you too and the same goes for all the Fett-heads!

I know it's considered optional but it's been driving me nuts.

So i've decided to put the extra darts on the inside of the Knee's & Flamer Gauntlet...
Will hold me up a bit, but should be worth it when finished.

Will need to relocate the switch & make another housing.

I plan to fit the above on the collar armour segment as they don't appear to be the Button/Comp Key type pieces.

    Cheers Mando!

Okay, this one's pretty image intensive, sorry.
He's nearly done & I have a troop on the 7th April with our local crew to see what falls off & what needs a rethink.

    Re: My Jodo Kast

This coming Sunday I will be trooping as Jodo with our local outfit.
I can then see what falls off etc & go from there.

Jetpack really is a pile of junk, but i've done the best with what I had. I simply can't justify a new one. There is nothing symmetrical about the entire unit including the rocket topper.
Beacon is made from a torch from Poundland & the Medical droid dome. Lollipop from an R2 head unit.

    Jetpack still needs paint/weathering.

Today was also the first full dress run..

I noticed the following that will be rectified before Sundays troop.

Girth belt slipped down, pouches are now glued onto the belt along with the Velcro.
Collar plate & Shoulder armour (now has) a bolt under the keyboard slots, locking them together.
    Gauntlet's are a bit tight.
Hoses housing slipped out from under Flak Vest.
    Jetpack also slipped down.
    Collar came undone.

This is nowhere near as easy to get on as my Scout was.....I will need a squire to assist me.

If you see anything obviously wrong please holler.

    Re: My Jodo Kast

Your suit looks really beat-up, which is a good thing and the whole image is fascinating! I saw a minor thing that bothers my eyes, and I'm talking about the ankle spats: you should wear them a bit higher on your ankles to not cover half of the boots.

Keep up the great work and good luck on your first troop!

Thanks J, can't wait to see your Montross up & running. A Good year for Mando's in the G brother!

    Couple more pic's...

Todays troop went better that I expected, couple of adjustment's required but nothing major & nothing fell off/broke which always helps.
Will be putting pic's in real soon for clearance. Couple of minor tweaks to rectify first.

The scorching around the battle damage dents and scraches looks amazing. How did you do that? you should post a tutorial on your method. the whole suit is fantastic.

    Thanks guys.

A tutorial could work Pancho, not sure how welcome it would be & would need to be stickied to prevent it getting buried in a fortnight (?)

I got the nod last night that I am now '501st Cleared'. TB 9474 is officially retired & BH 9474 is here.

    Watch out Fossils....

Thanks all for the encouragement & feedback & see you on the Ice!

Some pic's from last weekends Legoland Troop with the UKG & Mando Merc's, Rebel Legion & R2 builders club.

Had a blast & it went well, as a surprise my wife drew me a Tattoo design to celebrate the completion of Jodo...
