My First Costume

    My First Costume

    Hello,
This is lala1537, wife of evan4218. He has finally convinced me to create a mando variant costume!! SO here I am. The costume is still in the creating stage... however we are looking to have it completed by All-Con 2008. My goals are to create something very feminine, but still maintain the qualities of mandolorians and be of movie quality. My hubby does have a reputation to uphold . Will post progress and and sketches later today!

    Re: My First Costume

Here are some progress pics of what we have thus far.

Here is some pics of the armor that my husband is helping me sculpt... I should say he is doing all the work but I helped design it.

Its sculpted on a Ultracal30 casting of my torso. He used NSP Medium wax based clay to create the armor shapes.

Here are the base colors I chose for my suit. It will have a leather black vest with the charcoal gray undersuit. The armor will have silver, purple and red.

Here is a sketch of the basic idea of what I am going for.

Nice shoulder bell, the chest is a bit of original idea as well - no diamond in the middle.

Very Cool! I like the color scheme, too. Maybe one day I can convince my wife to do a custom Mando. NAH! I doubt it.

    Very nice work so far.

I can't wait to see this one go from your concept sketch to reality, so I'll be checking this thread when I can for updates.

Who knows... maybe your build will help me to convince my wife to don the armor as well. ( here's hoping )

I double checked hellopike, you're right - there is. But still, when I say diamond I mean Fett-ish diamond

Very cool work and look. I like two things about this post: 1. The design of your Mando is really cool and it's coming along great; 2. This proves evan4218 really is married. Some of us were starting to doubt it. (Totally kidding).

    Re: My First Costume

keep in mind there is no detail in any of the armor yet. It will be more fett-like when finished but I wanted something that wanst the usual 4 piece armor set and with a touch of girlyness to it while still appearing tough and fitting into the starwars universe.

Today Evan made a beta mold of the armor to make a casting from to re-master and smooth out the pieces. Once that is done we are going to finalize the details and add those and remold it.

Yes, there is indeed a woman out there who is willing to be around my geekyness. I think I infected her with my costume bug!

I like the 2 center "diamond" pieces; original, creative, and very fitting to the overall look of the design.

    Hey everybody,
Sorry I have been busy lately, however will update with some pics soon! Got some paint and weather detail on the shoulder bells this evening, as well as some work on the knees and the chest. I am excited about the purples... turning out very nice. I have been contributing all the way.. just think a woman handling the power sander and dremmel tool... who knew??
