My first attempt at mandalorian armor

swman3

New Hunter
Hello all,
Hi I'm new here, but I've been wanting to make some mando armor for awhile now
some things to note 1 Im a big guy (6'3" over 280 lbs) 2 I'm a teen (coffcoff15coffcoff) 3 I'm on a budget of $0-as little as possible
now then, I was going to use 5-gallon buckets as seen here tutorial but then I saw AFettFullofDollars post this http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f25/trash-can-armor-pics-6290/ and now I'm not sure but I still have some questions
1 how should I shape it if needed, I don't think my dad has a heat gun or a blow torch and I'm not sure how my mom feels about plastic in the oven (we do have a forge (you know for blacksmithing) but thats prbable not a good idea)
2 how do i make a flak vest
there will be more to come
any advise is appeciated
heres my designs so far

Use boiling water, Use Spare plastic if you can, and for your buy'ce(helmet) Cardboard, Bondo, and all that ****..... I'm also a teen, 15 5'5 140 lbs, Im also making my first kit, Have been for a year or so, With many changes, because i slack, but ever since i started my extended vacation from school(kicked out of the first semester because of illness) I should be able to finish it.
Now here is a tip, decide on what type of mandalorian you wanna be, Standard infantry, Sniper, Scout, Medic, field technician, slicer, or whatever, Just go with what you want, the reason why that matters, Gauntlet gadgets, Like take my kit, Medic, Field medic, Medical computer, and hypodermic needles

Thanks,
I think I might just do basic stuff first then add on some stuff
now how do I make (get) a flak vest and flight suit
and how do I make gauntlets/bracers (or however you spell it)

fla vest-you have a tutorial here on the forum just serch flak vest tutorial
fliughtsuit-go buy one
gauntlets-depends on what you want to have them look like...easiest way get two of those wases that go on graves at the grave yard(the plastic ones)and cut and shape them into what you want

thanks
is ther a less complicated way to make a flak vest at least to start with (maybe a modified t-shirt)
and where would I buy a flightsuit, or what should I use for one

well you could try moding a t-shirt but honestly this kinda vest arent even vests and they kinda suck...easiest way to get a flak vest i to buy one from someone here...as for the flightsuit i think you can find it at your local second hand cloths shop or at some seemsters shop....at least thats where you could find one in my country dont really know where you could find it in your country...oh and you might wanna make sure that the flight suit is from some kind of twill material as that is probobly the most durable...and costs the less i think...

Im' still a little confused do they sell something called a flightsuit that you can buy
and I do have limited money
(and what's twill)
also what do I shape my armor to

you shape it to your body, but not like heat it up and push it against your body, but bend it to the Contorts of your body

they dont sell actual flight suit but a work regular work jump suit made from a fabric material called twill can be modified to resemble a mandalorian jump suit twill jump suits should go about for 12-14 bucksat least thats the price in my country i doubt that its alot different in other countries...and you probobly wanna shape your armor either by bending it over a piece of pipe or something along those lines but make sure you shape it to the countors of your body as zuka said

Or you can be a man and ram against your body, and suck up the pain

or that...and most likely suffer 2nd degree burns on your chest, belly,"family jewles" and other parts of your body...or even better use this technique of aplying the shape on someone else from who you need information and if he wont talk maybe doing the same with his friends with him watching will work

Ok, I hope to get some trashcans by the 14so I can start
hopefully I won't have to shape anything yet
I"ll see what I can do about the vest and suit
but how do I make/shape the cod piece

does the flightsuit have to be one piece or can I use say sweat pants and a long sleve turtleneck, or something to that effect

sweat pants and a turtle neck are not going to give you a very nice look. Remember you are trying to replicate the look of materials that someone would wear into battle. The soft cotton will sag and bunch up in ways that won't look right.

You can get a flight suit at a reasonable price. You could use BDUs if you want a two piece. Do a google search on BDU and you will see about a billion sites to look at.

what do I look for with BDUs, what names and such, and are they in my size (I wear 2-3x sometimes 2-3xlt (tall))
and if possible can I get them not online (my parents dont have a credit card right now)

Go to an army surplus store. Or get a job. bank account and make a paypal......... I can link you to a site that sells Flight suits, and they have a deal with free shipping assuming your an american you could probably cash in on this, I'm not sure they work with canadians

I had a job by the time I was 13. mowing yards then roofing houses, hauling hay, running a tractor, pulling an auger, running a combine, splitting firewood etc....

But I am a really old guy (37)

I use actual suits built for the costume, but I have found coveralls at Goodwill that cost me 3 bucks before.
