My Custom Mando Armor... "ONE END"

A few weeks ago I decided what I was going to make My armor out of and so I did... I got a storage box and went at it.

Sorry not much for typing but you meet me in person I wont shut up.

    So here she is...

    The start...

    Heat Gun to shape...

    Black as base...

    Gloves...

    Shoulder pads...

    Weapons...

    Completed the Paint job.
Just need to attach it to a vest & My jump suit.

    Working on Gauntlets next!

    Hope you like it!

i really love the nerf guns too! those mavericks are pretty commonly turned into steampunk type guns but nice to see them on a mando. it might looks different when its all assembled and worn but any spots of yellow in the middle to tie the sides in?

Velcro... Tell me it's going to melt off the moment I walk outside in our Az. Weather....

Your the one I was about to contact about this topic, but you beet me to the Enter key... I'm about to Epoxy the Velcro to the vest as well as the Velcro to My plates...

    What do you think?

ive come to find industrial velcro is NOT your friend in AZ.

you can use the sew-on industrial velco on the soft parts. that works fine. and the sticky velcro mostly will not come off the armor in the heat.

looks great! i use a molle vest as well, i bolted my plates to it.

i like the look of the set, it's been fun to watch it come together, and quickly i might add! i see you're waiting on a girthbelt, that or a sah to tie together the middle and you're in business.

    very nice!

If you are worried about the heat melting any glue, try E6000, you may need to clamp the item on whilst it dries, but it is awesomely strong stuff. Used for glueing gems into jewellery, so it's industrial strength!

    Great work by the way!

Looks good! Very nice paint scheme, it ties everything in together nicely.

Seeing as you're still waiting on your girth belt, thus haven't tried it with the rest of the gear yet, you might want to keep in mind that you may need to shorten your back plate a bit. If you check both Boba and Jangos back plates you'll notice that neither cover the girth belt... a slight over lap at the top maybe, but yours will cover the entire girth belt.

    Just some food for thought.

Yes, I brought this up over at Mercs. The bottom of the back plate is almost even with the bottom of the gut plate on a modern set.

I am worried that you may have 3 outcomes with that long backplat:

    1. It rests ontop of your girth belt, but sticks out at the bottom.

    2. It rests on your girth belt and physically cuts into the belt (my old backplate did this and it was just bearly on my girth).

    3. You wear your girth over your backplate, but the first time you try to bend over you snap your backplate.

Armor so far looks great! I just worry a bit about that back plate.

Re: My Custom Mando Armor... "ONE END"

The material I used is very flexible "it shouldnt break" and I was going to put the belt over it.... But even if I shorten it the vest it is on is only an inch shorter so I don't think it will make much diff. if I cut it down, I like it being that long as I have kidney protection.... Also the belt was going to go over the front of the vest as well so whether its covering vest or back armor my ability to bend may be compromised either way... but I will work the bugs out as I go, and I may have to cut the back armor up a tad... we shall see...

As for the glue that was suggested thank you! I have been using Epoxy on quite a bit of stuff on this suit just wish I had like 5 gal. of it!

any glue out here will melt in the direct sunlight. which is everywhere. Arizona is a different animal for costuming, as the 115+ heat or like the other day 121 will def destroy any plastic armor like sintra for any exposed periods of time in the direct sunlight or shadows. ive seen helmet get misshapen while being worn, armor warp out of shape sitting on the trunk of a car, or industrial glue and epoxy and jb-weld just come off.

so choose wisely if you're in a dry heat burnt state! but in saskatoon. no need to worry mate!

Adding onto the whole attaching of the armor you really don't know what to expect from our wierd Arizona weather. Industrial strength velcro was on my first choice but if there is going to be a problem with it and the whole moving off then I'll just choose with something else. Probally snaps or something will work for me. I guess it all depends.

Hey Thomas where did you get your vest. That's looking really good for something that you bought..

    this kit has excellent possibilities.

i would only want to see the following changed:

weather everything. you look new. the leather gear, vest would look awesome beat up. drag it around the yard, etc. let your son toss it about.

your guns are awesome mods! get them dirty.

it looks like your collar plate is a bit small.

You should def. come to the mando build day in central Phx on the 29th to led a hand as well as some weathering work.

The poncho reminds me to a couple of insect wings like the ones that the Geonosians have... don't ask me why lol

But I like it, I really like it man, I wish I can have a armor like yours. Very good work!!

Man, I was envious of just your helmet before. After seeing the whole build, I'm downright jealous. Nice work1 Especially love the gaunts.

That is a very nice outfit you got there! what did you make the gauntlets out of before putting the bondo on? And the "poncho", is that just your cape pulled together? One last question, does it say "One End" on your chest display?

    What it all says...

On the spot above the clip it says a random #... Nothing important...
On the same side on the stock it say's "Death & Honor"
The Yellow on the Barrel it says "<<CAUTION"
on the other side there's just some Kill stripes, $$$ symbol's on the scope and stock as well as a storm trooper kill mark along with a Jedi & Sith saber kill mark...
The Symbol on the opposite side of the random # is My ONE END Symbol...

    ME WANTS THAT GUN!
    Nice work...
...I want to make armor like that...
Oh wait, I made some out of cardboard and plastic binders .
    Yours is 100x better, though.

I'm actually still building, and your armor gave me an unlimited source of inspiration.
Until now, I never really noticed the collar armor.
    Nice work, and thanks.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you're using for your "Mando Merc One End" display? Something like an LCD message board?

I have to quote Jack Nicholson and ask "Where does he get those wonderful toys?"

I'm want to put multiple displays like that in one of my gauntlets, once I start my build. It's going to be a police cruiser themed set of armor, so that particular gauntlet will be the "onboard computer", and I want to be able to flash a few different messages across the screens.

    Great Custom,
One thing that bugs me though is the back plate, the area where cables/hoses
meet it, seems unfinished, I think you could add a small pack or build up a section to have it make sense.

Wow, very cool build. the dual 2-tone color scemes look realy awesome! The custom blaster rifle looks great as well. the finger digit armor was very creative.
Sixgunn13 is kinda right, though, some kind of pack would really top off the whole thing.

The yellow gives them a industrial/heavy construction look... I really like the large light on the helmet. I was toying around with the idea but noticed everyone else using the tiny led lights instead... glad to see you took a different path.
