Wow, that is looking very pretty! The colours are awesome!
Thank you. I used Dull Aluminum w/ Rub n Buff for the metal areas, Dark Hunter for the cheeks and ear areas, and a non Krylon Moss Green for the other areas. I can't remember off the top of my mind who makes the moss green, but it is a unique shade that has a very natural yet pale feel to it.
Lookin good man. And you were complainin about the R&B. Looks like it turned out great.
Lookin' good man!!
Thanks. TK, the RnB was HORRIBLE! I was seriously pretty sure that I was going to have to start over again. Luckily that wasn't the case.
Saw it over in "Jango", but I'll say here, that it looks great!![]()
looks great man... can't wait to see how the whole costume turns out![]()
Nice work so far! Keep it up, this will be one hell'ofa suit
NICE JOB, can't wait to see the final product. MORE PICS MORE PICS!!!![]()
Really nice work, Shockwave.

Thanks a lot! Oh yeah, I just weathered it up last night and striped it. It looks awesome now! The weathering really brought it to life. It hakes the metal look very convincing. I brought it to work to show a few people and they were surprised that it was light because they thought that is was all metal. I think I want to finish the rangefinder assembly first and then I will post the completed pictures.
That is great. Can't wait to see the rest!
Nice helmet man, great work.
Nice lookin' helmet you got there.![]()
From the pics you posted before of what this will look like, this is going to be one awesome looking custom!
Can't wait to see the rest.![]()
Fantastic job on the weathering!!! I like the choice of the pinstripe between the 2 arrows- nice touch![]()
Dude that is one Awesome Helmet!!
may we ask you what you used for the weathering?
Thanks and great job again, looking forward to seeing the rest of the costume.![]()

Very nice.
Thank you very much. I used Black "Delta Ceramcoat" Acrylic Paint that I got at Michaels for the weathering. I applied it with a synthetic (nylon) sponge, unthinned. I just kept reblotting it very thin and reapplying as necessary. I used an angled sponge and a fine brush to get in corner areas.
Whoa, that's come a long way. What's the base helmet?
P.s... Your one step closer to the Mandalorian Army...![]()
The base was a fiberglass take of a DP 95.
Strong work. the weathering is exceptional.
SHOCKWAVE very nice work indeed the hard work and patience always pays of at the end .
Very nice work. Te weathering is very convincing and really makes the helmet. Great job!
Doug

Thank you. Piece by piece....my chest armor will most likely be the next armor pieces completed. I have already shaped them and have molded them slightly to contour my body. I am not going to do the painting though until I have my vest (RA, which should be arriving soon) in hand and can be sure that everything lines up as I want it to. Thanks to Thrawn2222, I also already have an awesome leather ammo belt/holster setup. Some of you may have seen it before. It is all black leather, with 7 Boba style usable pouches and an overall Jango style look. It was originally comstructed by MP from early black and white photographs. It is really nice and lends well to the overall suit. I was also fortunate to land a pair of brand new BedStu Modules. So, like I said, a lot of the style is similar to Jango, but with it's own personality. I am basing it off of the premise that some of Jango's gear was more of a standard issue for certain Mandalorians, who would have those parts somewhat tailored to their own needs/rank. I am working on the jumpsuit right now as well. I'm still not sure about my guns. For now I will most likely be sporting westars, but in the future I am planning on constructing my own weapons. I'll be sure to post updates as I complete the pieces.
The weathering is kickin. Really makes the helmet look used. What did you use to get that look?
Man that looks AMAZING! Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the finished armor.![]()
Super job on the helmet man!
Thanks everyone. TK-Fett, I used black "Delta Ceramcoat" Acylic paint for the weathering. I applied it unthinned with a nylon sponge. I just blotted it on and then blotted again with a dry part of the sponge. I also used tissue to blot it. I did it very thin the first time to fog the metal, and then reapplied and blotted again in areas to deepen the weathering. For the corners/edges, I used an angles sponge and did the same. For hard to reach areas of parts i wanted a bit thicker, I used a fine brush w/tissue. You only need to keep a few areas totally unweathered to still give a peak of the shine underneath.
That is the heat! Awesome Helm!
Great job! And a good inspiration for all us customs.
Sometimes we wish we were making custom suits; then you don't have to worry about all the accuracy and details that are in the movies. Oh well we'll just have to make some custom accessories for our suits.
Anyways, You applied the weathering after the R&B, right? We weren't sure, especially since we've never used the R&B before.
Thanks.(oh and how are you doin w/the rest of the suit? we really can't wait to see it finished)

Ya the weathering was the last step, following the Rub n Buff. It looks best as a non-glossy paint (I haven't seen much shiney dirt in my time). The sponge was key because, although you can't see it in detail in the pictures, when you blot it, you can also wipe it a bit which adds really fine streaks. The streaks really resemble the swirl marks you would get when polishing metal and makes it look like the dirt got trapped in the swirls. It's pretty subliminal, but it has a lot to do with the look.
I can't wait to get more of my gear finished either. My time is limited so I can only put in so many hours here and there, but I am steadily moving forward. You are right about the accuracy thing with the custom. Thats the best part really is that you are free from having to do things a precise way, but at the same time there still is obviously a degree of accuracy to follow to get a good effect. Going custom, you have to also be careful to remain balanced and not over-do it. The design of Jango and Boba are really masterpieces from great artists in a galaxy far, far away. I still look at my 12" Jango figure and think "man, that sure would be a great costume..." but at the same time I am happy with creating a personal set of armor.
