Thanks for the input buddy. I had no idea Mavericks had been used already?? I've seen them modified and for sale on Ebay to look more like real weapons but that's been it.
I'll be adding a scope to the Night Finder and maybe extending the barrel a bit. Cutting and sanding some of the detail off it too. It arrived this morning(still waiting on the Mav') so I've had a chance to look it over.

I just wanted to make a quick update here. I've managed to start slapping some fibreglass onto my armor now! It's really satisfying to be able to make progress again. I also get a little kick out of rapping my knuckles onto the armor after the FG has set. LOL! That hard "knock" sound gets me every time. It's like, "Whoa! Armor!" :) .
I've also got the final design for my Gauntlets done. I've tried to break away from the "Fett" look but keep some elements to keep it distinctly "Mando". They both have the flame unit which Boba had but other than that I've tried to give them a different look altogether. The right gaunt is meant to be a utility unit, for first aid or emergency supplies. The left being the armed gaunt with double dart launcher.

Morning guys,
I'm managing to get some time in on fibreglassing my armor this week. Today I even hope to get some more filler onto the curved pices like the chest, back and collar.
So far, so good there.
I've also finished my pistols for the time being. They've each had two coats of both silver then black before getting abused with some sandpaper and a scouring pad. I'm really happy with how they turned out. Though I think I'll modify them further later on.

LOL! Been doing that today! Though my chest plate cracked where the fibreglass was too thin in the centre. Not that big a deal though, I've reinforced the area with more FG and a little more filler to smooth out the crack.
Good as new! Been making some good progress today and will make more tomorrow!!
I tried a new filler which is a pain to mix with it's hardener due the fact it doesn't change color. I have it worked out now though so should have some nice smooth shoulders, chest and back plate by the end of the day.
For other areas, I'm trying a simple layering of resin to the outside(after fibreglassing the inside) to smooth the srface out and to fill any seams there may be. Then sanding that back to give a final surface for paint. It should be fine since the parts are flat and angular such as my ab plates, cod and butt. I'll see how that turns out tomorrow.

No pics I'm afraid(YET), but I have been making progress on this guys.
My vest is assembled now! WooHoo! I did have sleeves on it, well the shoulder bell type sleeves, but removed them as I didn't like them on. So now it's more of a sleeveless vest. I did keep the green stitching idea and it worked a treat! It gives a subtle highlight and will hopefully tie in with the paint scheme when I get to it.
My armor is also coming along. I've been in the garage on the fine days, aplying second coats/layers of filler to smooth out the chest and back plate. The gauntlets are now fibreglassed too! I just need to trim the excess before I try them on and fit the greebles.
I think I mentioned before that some of my armor didn't get the filler treatment but rather several coats of resin to smooth them out?? Well, that's working out pretty well but when it comes to sanding it back to smooth it over the **** stuff seems impervious to my sander!! It takes forever to sand back. Though I'm hoping that a more coarse grade sanding pad will remedy that.
My wife mentioned hosting a fancy dress party for Haloween this year. I could have cried! I just know that my gear won't be ready by then!!! Oh well, there's next year. ;)
I'll try to make more progress today and have something to show you boys and girls later!
Looks mental! im gona be starting my own custom soon, so checking others out, i also love the !eyes" feature to that helmet.

I know this is off topic but I'm having a hard time finding something. I remember a little while back I found a thread that had a downloadable, printable TDH convention badge. The type that hangs from a chain or lanyard. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Anyway, I didn't download it at the time, figured I'd grab it another time. Thing is I can't find it now!! :( Can anyone link me to it??
It was in the TDH colours and had blank fields if I remember right for members to fill in their details.

That's a font fault then. :( The "P" looks upside down but the "C" just looks like it's been stylised slightly. Good spot, thanks alot! ;)
I can't remember where I got it to be honest. It was a while ago.
i found out what web site it was and he made it close to the alphabet Karen traviss has but not exact, but at least he did something close.
Oh well. Maybe someone could make a more accurate one eh?

Progress today!!!! :D
Not as much as I'd hoped but I'm happy. The resin coat I gave much of the armor is proving a real pain to sand so, as a result I need to smooth all the armor over with filler!! :( So much for a shortcut eh? LOL! That'll teach me.
Still, the chest, back plate, and shoulders are starting to look right!! Those are the parts that I didn't try to cheat on. Thankfully! They still need some filler in places but overall they're very close to primer!
I gave one of the gauntlets a coat of primer to see how much work they may need. I think just "skimming" them with filler will do the trick. That's tomorrows job! ;)
I also have a few things to share regarding my lid. I've now added ear pieces and have started designing my custom RF. Nothing worth showing on it yet though but I have a very clear idea of what I want there. I've also purchased some ELwire!! I've decided I want to incorperate Rep. Commando influence into my gear so I'm gonna fit the wire into my visor just like an RC lid. I'm going for green though to keep the color scheme true. I mentioned before that my guy could have been one of the Mando Training sergeants on Kamino? Well, I'm gonna stick with that. I'm even gonna build a DC-17 as my rifle. Kinda like a Mando upgrading his kit with the latest Republic tech. ;) Plus, I love the DC-17!!
Also, I got me an LED name badge that I'm gonna use for my chest display(when I cut out the slot for it). I've opted for white LEDs.
Phew! There's been more but it's small so not really worth mentioning until I have more. I have pics from today but I can't upload them for some reason. :( The uploader keeps crashing on my, probably my ****** connection. It's been terrible come the afternoon here. :(

Yeah, some small areas to smooth over but nothing much. The rest of the armor will be a pain now though as my shortcut didn't pay off. :( Note to self,"Don't try to take shortcuts!!"
Yeah, my ear pieces are fixed on now but I'm waiting in some Milliput to fill in areas around the new ears. ;) They're looking good though! Really pleased so far.
Tomorrow's jobs include finishing the ears, fresh primer on lid, fit new visor, fill over remaining armor and touch up todays work, fibreglass knees and biceps.

Are you going for a smooth, clean, new look on the armor? If not you could always use some of the "blemishes" to your advantage and incorporate them as dented/damaged areas. Just a thought.
I thought of that, and I probably will in some places. Though alot of it doesn't quite look like battered armor, it looks like uneven filler. LOL! I'll be back out there today and see what I can get done.
I'll be going for some dented and damaged spots on the armor but I don't want to over do it.

Thanks, they need some work to get them right. They look better in the pics as they're not showing the imperfections in the surface that need smoothing out. The flame thrower boxes need rebuilding. They're just not really suited for card then fibreglass. I have some sheet styrene that I'll be using for them.

A little update guys, I built this yesterday. It's housing for my comms antennea(sp?). I bought the aerial a while back, the original idea being I was gonna build some custom ears and incorperate that into the left one. I opted out so build this little piece to fix to the lid instead.
I think it looks Ok, I'm looking forward to painting this bucket now!!! :)

Thanks buddy, I forgot I hadn't posted pics of the new RF. Sorry about that. I built that a few days ago. It works, so it comes down and wraps around the right side of my visor, and then stowes away upright.
I was going to add lights to it, the oportunity was there. Though I left it plain. I may come back and upgrade that another time.
You could always shoot for some kind of mini LED screen and wire it to a cam in the back of the suit somewhere.
That would be cool! Though I have now idea how I'd do that?? Or even how much a gadget like that would cost?

That is cool. Though the phone idea was so that you'd have a working comm system. The screen in my RF to navigate my menu and see what I'm doing, with the keypad on the gauntlet to use it.

The silver turned out to be a little too bright so that'll need dirtying up a bit when I'm close to the end, but other than that I love my helmet now!! Still more paint to add but we're getting there!

I did manage to get some more paint onto it yesterday, I added some white killstripes. I opted for triangles though not blocky rectangles. They interlock in a one pointing up, one pointing down pattern and so on. The Mandalorian language/text looks pretty triangular to me so it made sense to me.
The visor should be in in an hour or so.
I like your idea about the triangular kill stripes. I have a picture in my head but I'll be waiting anxiously to see real pics.

Really pleased with it so far, yet it's still not finished. :)
I've also started on my leg armor. I opted out of card/fibreglass for them. I picked up two waste paper bins from Wilkos(Wilkinsons, it's a UK store) for 75p each!! Used my templates to draw them out on the bins and cut them out. They look pretty grat so far and I may be ready to paint them tomorrow!! No pics yet though, sorry.

Very nice! I like the look of the mirrored visor. The ELwire too. I look to see more custom lids being fitted with it. Did you go all the way around the visor or just the top portion? At any rate it looks sweet. I'm digging those kill stripes too.

I think it'd be cool to see more customs with EL in them. Lots of different colors to choose from.

Ok, another small update. I painted a sort of tusk design onto the mandables, I originally planned on a white to black gradient effect, but opted out after realising I had no white spray left. :( Though, now I've done it I prefer this look anyway. :)
I also painted the RF with the same colors as the rest of the lid. Still more to do but it's very nearly here now.

Although I have decided to make my custom Mando armor templates available! As with most of my templates they are for sale but I figured that since I hadn't made progress on mine for a while it'd be senseless to keep them to myself.

WOW. I love that helmet design. The chromed visor is a nice change, also. What does it look like with the elwire on, but the lights out? Any luck changing the batteries, and getting it to light up brighter?
