The Mercke Lutso progress thread

Some more progress.

I've finished cutting out all the armor and will begin painting it as soon as I am happy with the shape of the neckpiece.

I've also acquired a new vibroblade:

And before anyone says it, yes, I am aware that blades are not allowed in conventions.

I also built myself a new blaster. It's more of a sidearm to the DL-44, it's this little Westar-esque piece, it's quite cool. I'll get some pictures of it once I finish the trigger guard.

That actually depends on the Convention. Blades are allowed at DragonCon as long as you keep them sheathed at all times.

Very nice knife though!

Progress has been slow, but I thought I would share this -

I'll keep you guys posted. Rest assured there will be a finished suit by the ed of this thread.

I started painting my armor today. The primer has been sealed and I just finished putting down the first coat of chrome.

I'm starting to get the feeling that I will be making two sets of armor. I think this one is great, but there's a chance that it will look too small when finished. I'll have to get some pictures up of a test fit, and see what you guys think.

Very Cool man Im currently working on a custom mando thats kind of jasterish
TrueSword.com is a very good place to get blades, there cheap but they look
realy good and they hold up good to.

Progress has been made, but it is only within the two main points of my suit so far - the helmet and blaster.

I like to get everything absolutely perfect before moving on; it may be a good habit, but it is excruciatingly time consuming and it can get annoying.

Another factor is my budget, which is not very flexible.

Anyway, here are the absolutely finished pieces. I finished the rangefiner and stalk, made a new stabilizer trim under the visor, added some support plates to the inside of the helmet (for both protection and looks) finished weathering the blaster and created a new custom scope.

Actually, I take it back - I still have a few plates to add to the top of the helmet interior. It's still bare up there.

I'm sending the blaster out this week to get a custom holster rig made for it...once that is finished, then things will really start picking up again.
