Mando Pride Fitness Challenge

Awesome TJD! Gymbeau same here, I'm too sore to work out right now... I ran a PFT on Wednesday... an official one. my official score was 62 pushups 60 Situps 12:55 runtime... yeah my runtime sucked and I need to work on it, but in all honesty I haven't been able to run much due to weather down here. BTW, this is after a total workout on tuesday of 140 pushups, 120 situps, 40 flutter kicks, 40 jumping jacks, and 2 mi run (on treadmill).

osik! I've just not been posting like normal. Now I feel like a dikutla chakaar. I'll post up some stats soon. I get my wisdom teeth out Monday and won't be allowed to work out for about a week.

man just clicked on this and im pretty embarrased...and im 16!! :facepalm im not fat, but i cant run like i used to (to much time sittin on my ***)!! way to stick to the younger generation sterotype i know!! but this has motivated me, so i will defintely psot progress when i can. btw, when i do push ups my wrists start to hurt after about 20 push-ups and are on fire by about 35 :confused...can anyone tell me how to avoid this? oh and this has been a problem since i can remember...so its not due to my bein out of shape i know that. Thanks ner vode!!!

Darman I've never had that problem, but we do have some folks who wear wrist braces in my squadron because of something similar. Sorry vode for not keeping this thread up to date, Ops tempo the last few months has been crazy! I go tomorrow to get my wisdom teeth out and I'll be on profile for a week or so. When I'm cleared to PT again I'll start working on this thread, again. lol

good idea! I find that doing sets of 15 (pushups or situps) during commerical breaks actually helps out a lot during the pre PFT spin up.

I wish I could work out right now... just got the wisdom teeth removed, I'm on profile until monday, no PT and no lifting in excess of like 5 lbs or something like that... it's annoying. I can't even use my grip masters. I really want to go for a run right now...

Man, that sucks! It helps doin that stuff durin the commercials, cause instead of your body bein inactive for awhile, u get liitle bursts of activity. Bacck to the fitness test...i recently borrowed some perfect push-ups, and was able to 21 in one minute...dont know if thats good, but remeber how perfect-pushups work, you turn your arms as you go up and down, plus i make sure my arms are at 90 degree angles... but for some reason, my wrist dont kill me on those, maybe b/c it forces my wrists to stay straight. maybe i'll just do regular push-ups whil holdin them...:D

lol I hear good things about perfect pushup... 33 is a min pass score on the original AFPFT, however on the new test I think it's 40.

It does help! so if i did 21 on the AFPFT i would fail right? oh well... i know this goes off topic but what do u do in the air force kal'ika? BTW i looked into wrist braces, and they seem to be for sprained wrists, at least the ones i've seen. Is that what you were talkin about, cause i haven't fallen on my wrist recently. and what are flutter kicks?

umm... not sure what kind of braces they are actually, I just know they wrap around the wrists. Flutterkicks are a 4 count exercise, where you lie flat on your back, elevate your shoulders off the floor and your feet 6 inches from the ground. Then, you kick, while keeping your legs straight. four count exercise therefore 4 counts equals 1 repetition. As for the job... I'm aircrew. As for pass/fail, you would technically fail, but... the way it works now you'd go on a special fitness program and retest in 6 months at your normal test time.

Wow, well thanks for the info on flutterkick and i will now start doing them after sit-up, seeing as they work lower abs. Oh well im not in military, so... aint gotta worry bout PFT...that is untill i join the Marine Corps in a few years

I train in mixed martial arts. A school called "The Pit". Its a smaller, satellite school of the large MMA school in Las Vegas, ran by John Hackleman.

Tonights cardio workout was:
20 pushups
20 burpees
20 box jumps
20 squats
50 straight punches

5 rounds of that 3 minutes a round. No breaks. (We have a belt testing this weekend and in order to pass the first phase of the testing, you have to be able to compete three rounds at three minutes apiece. I completed it tonight, but still wish me luck this weekend.)

Followed by 3 sets of 8 counts (10 per set)

then an hour of mixed martial arts training and an hour of brazilian jiujitsu class.

Those last two hours are pretty easy actually, plenty of water and towel breaks during those. ;)

Hopefully, after a few more months of this, I'll be looking much more "mando". lol.

hey dude thanks for reviving this! I'd actually lost the thread! lol Anyhow... am away from home right now but will be starting a more aggressive fitness program when I get back. Something similar to your MMA set actually but with some weight training added in
