Mandalorian wedding ???
Hi Guys,
I have seen this picture, and I think I will start this project someday (not soon cause I'm broke), but I would like to get more info...
I'm thinking on making both costumes, one for me, and the other for my lovely girlfriend ;)...
Here you have a picture:
http://images.wikia.com/starwars/ima...an_wedding.jpg
I'm just wondering if there is more info about these mandalorians, more pics, etc etc... where this pics belongs, and the most important, is to know is there are more pics, or this draw is just "one of a kind" design made to an specific magazine... (I have read it belong to SW insider 86, but just wanted to know if there is more about them).
Do you know someone who has made any of these costumes ??? I'd love to see them ;).
Thanks
Ben.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I don't know about anyone making these yet. I believe it was in the magazine when the article about explaining Mandalorian culture, including weddings.
I think the only other version of this picture is the uncolored one, but I could be mistaken.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
The only other version I have seen of the photo is the black and white one in the artist's scrapbook. There was a member on here a few months back who was working on the male though sadly his name escapes me.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I've always loved that picture.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
In Triple Zero Skirata thinks about Mandalorian weddings (and divorces) a little bit. That's more a general thing though, although I assume those two had the same thing as he did.
It says the ceremonies are quick and are basically a contract. If I get a chance, I'll put the actual words they use in here.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Heheh, thanks, although is not for MY WEDDING XDDD, it's just for fun :D, dont get me wrong, I wont marry with those costumes !!! Just think it would be soo cool to make that costume for my girl, and for me as well ;)...
I think that's the only picture available... so I will have to create the rest from my imagination ;) .
At least it has no JP.. !!! (that is cool cause JP are expensive !!! :P ).
Ben.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I like that picture, I think it's cool. Oddly enough, that Mando guy's color scheme is what I based mine on. I like red, and black/dark blue. When I started thinking about making a custom Mando, I got Insider 86, and about a month later I started my costume. Yay Mandalorians!

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Any pic of your costume ?? I would like to see it :D

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
My friend Megan is making her.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I know of someone as well who is in the process of making the female, looks awesome already.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
The artist who created the artwork for the Mandalorian Culture article is Tom Hodges.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Well her paint job is cool, and you only see the one gaunt but that has a really good look to it. Along with the other details, the shoulder armor scalloped edge pads, the different chest center, the jewel on the belt, the cape that comes fom over the shoulders and through the belt it looks like, all cool stuff, would like to see that all done! Maybe at C4? And his stuff, like shoulder strap with pouches, the row of cyliders along lower armor, and his thigh armor has cutouts. All fun stuff!

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
A Star Wars wedding, just what every bride and grooms parents/family want to hear...Someone would blow a gasket over that in my family-guess it's a good thing for them that I want nothing to do with marriage, or it'd be a Mando wedding forthcoming! :lol
:skull

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I don't think I could marry a girl who didn't love Star Wars, or at least some other geeky obsession. I hear all these horror stories in my garrison and fanforce about wives who hate Star Wars. I couldn't willingly put myself in that situation. So, a Mando wedding would work for me. Quick, easy ceremony, and get on to the party.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
HHeheheh, that's funny... I can say I'm very lucky in that aspect... My girlfriend had NOT seen Star Wars before being with me, but she saw them with me, and she likes it... not as deeply sick as I do :P, but she likes it... Now, she has a Slave Leia costume ;), and I'm making a Zam wesell, Boushh and padme costumes for her, and then I will make these 2 mando, (the male for me and the female for her...).
So, I think I will never have that problem about hating SW, or hating my hobby... I'm agree with you, it would be hard to be with a person who HATE what I love... ;).

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I was reading the Mando article for the *insert astronomical number* time and I thought up a rather neat idea for mando couples. Has anyone thought about writing the Mando marriage pledge on the bottom of their gauntlets or another piece of kit.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
What, like a cheat sheet?
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Haha no, like wedding bands or just to show how devoted they are to one another.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Or even displaying there family logo on there Armour in some place?....:albino

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I had already decided to do a mandalorian, though I had wanted to just do the usual standard armour at the time. When I saw this picture (moths back) I absolutely loved it! It makes female mando's look cool I think! I was originally going to make the armour, but I'm thinking of using it as inspiration for me to design my own. I really love the colour scheme though.
Does anyone have pictures of the people who've already made it?

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
My fiance is in the process of making the female mando costume. She just finished the weathering she just has some of the soft parts left. She got pretty creative in making the feather things that are around the shoulder bells. I will see what I can do about getting some pics.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
aren't the vows "I will love you forever, we shall raise warriors."??
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Couples could make up emblems for one another and combine the two to make a family crest of sorts.
The vows are:
Mhi solus tome
Mhi solus dar'tome
Mhi me'dinul an
Mhi ba'jurl verde
We are one when together
We are one when parted
We share all
We will raise warrios

Greg, since you proposed while trooping, do I smell a Mando wedding cooking up?

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I was probably going to see if I could have some feather-like pieces lasered out and glued onto a set of WOF laser cut shoulder bells for my friend who's going to start making that costume.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
There will be a SW aspect to the wedding Shatir, Erin and I are cooking up ideas as we speak.
Follow the link to the pics (there really big so I don't want to post them), it's a Rubies Jango.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
para_fett, that helmet looks great. I can't wait to see the rest of the armor.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
In about a week i am going to start making this female mando or something very similar to it. Im hoping to have it finished for C4! Im going to use sintra for the armor parts. I have no experience with the sintra though. I'll cross my fingers!:lol
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Welcome to TDH RB! It is good to see that you made the move. I can't wait to see you pull off the mando.
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Mando love? And everyone said the Sniffers romance was ludichrist!LOL!
Good luck finding the right Vixen my friends!
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I'm sure it is going to take sometime but I'm sure there is someone out there for all of us. Now lets start seeing some progress pics so I can day dream of the future.
Though The Sniffer forgot "Sniff on my dear brother! Sniff on!"

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Didn't see anybody mentioning it, the artwork for the "Mandalorian Wedding" the lineart (not sure about colors) was by Tom Hodges.

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
My femme mando from the mandalorian wedding photo is coming along nicely. Im a bit stumped with the cod piece. There is a black semi transparant dome on the top. It looks like an R2-D2 eye. Any suggestion of what to use?
-
Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
try this...
get a small square of plywood. If your "transparent dome" is say, 4 inches in diameter, get a 6" sqauare of plywood and cut the 4 inch circle out of it. Now get yourself some smoke tint acrylic probably bout 1/4" id say...and heat it up in your oven.
now your best bet is with that square make a little box that will hook up to a vaccumm. Like with the hose connection. Once you have a sweet little vac box, get that acrylic nice and hot and flimsy. pull it out and set it over the hole, and then turn the vac on...but turn it on in spurts...and that should give you your semi transparent dome.

hmmm, I dunno but that just looks like her belt buckle, granted it looks like it's a black semi transparent dome, like a jewel maybe?
My suggestion to you is to wander the toy sections in search of an oversized "cow eye" marble or rubber bouncy ball (I've seen some of those at Target years ago). I'd suggest the rubber ball because it would be much easier to cut in half and turn into that "dome".
Failing that, I'm sure you could do a search on "acrylic gemstones" and find the right sized orb/jewel to use for that belt buckle. Incidentally, craft stores also carry orbs that are in fact two halves you can fill with decorative greeblies and turn into (christmas) ornaments, one of smaller size could also do nicely.
Another thing I thought was interesting were the famous "feathered shoulder bells". I think it's actually padding underneath the shoulder bell, similar to the ribbing in Vader's gloves, but that's just my take on it.
Anyone know Hodges personally and could confirm this?

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
yea i think that is a belt buckle, maybe a USMC quick release style belt just more built up around the sides and the Gem in the center, you could possibly make it out of sintra or some other plastic and glue it on the front of the clip

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
I love this topic. Wanting to figure out how to craft such armor for my girlfriend is the reason I came here in the first place. :hug Oh what fortune that such a topic exists! :D

Absolutely love it. Did you come up with that or find it somewhere? Either way, I hope you don't mind that I've borrowed it (points to signature). :cheers
I didn't see any direct guidance in this topic, and I hate to ask such a n00bish question, but has anyone found or created some starting points for crafting the female armor? I would greatly appreciate any pointers!
Thanks!

Re: Mandalorian wedding ???
Ni emuurir haar dala beskar'gam bat ibac sur'gaan (Translate if you dare, muhahaha), and yes I love the idea of seeing more female Mandos. This picture is one of those I like more than others, because of the fact it shows more variants than just the standard boba/jango ones.
