I'd put mod that barrel with a large piece of PVC pipe so that the barrel looks wider and singular. Cut the mag hole off and maybe re-position it to the side, then add some greeblies and you should have something that looks much more star warsy. You definitely don't want it to look like an earth gun when you done. =)

It's still very contemporary. As I said in your thread about your pistol. Look at Star Wars weapons, Boba's EE-3, the E-11's, DLT-19's and T-21's carried by Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers, the DL-44's carried by Han and Luke and the pistol used by Leia; they were all based on real weapons yet they didn't scream Earth gun when they were finished. Yours does, big time.
Personally I'd loose both the pistol and the rifle and start again, but I'll assume you want to use them so I suggest the following

1) Loose the magazine on the rifle, possibly remount it on the side (although you want to make it shorter if you do reuse it). Cover the slot under the gun where it used to fit.
2) Replace the front end of your rifle with a longer pipe, perhaps with holes in like the DLT-20a carried by some Stormtroopers - where a STG-44 assault rifle had the barrel of a .50 cal M1917 heavy machine gun added.

3) Add suitable greebles to it. NO Star Wars blaster is clean, neat and perfectly tidy like a modern Earth gun.

4) For you Colt M1911 - Add greebles and barrel modifications to it. Loose the magazine and make it look different.

Alternatively...

Forget options 1 to 4 and go with option 5

5) Make a Star Wars pistol and blaster from scratch or buy some.

Have to agree too that it still looks too "earthy" and not "star warsy" enough.
But - I think it's coming along well.

I would follow suggestions from OrtharRrith (1 to 3 that applies to this prop) and would add this one:

- Modify the scope of your weapon.
I find that Star Wars weapon scope are always bulky ... they are most of the time not as "clean cut" as the one you have. You could add some greebles to it... redo it completly from ABS pipes... depends on the look you want.

Here are a few example:
E-11
DH-17

Greebles are small detail parts. They give a model or prop texture rather than clean smooth surfaces.

An example would be Boba Fetts blaster rifle. The stock for instance would be smooth and lacking in detail if it weren't for the greebles used to beef it up a bit and make it look more interesting.

The good thing about greebles is that you can use just about anything as a greeble.

so far it is looking good but IF i were you I would dremel off the original site rail near the tip of the gun, extend the barrel with a silver pipe maybe a additioanl 4 inches, and im not to sure about the magazine. It makes it look to now not very star wars futiristic
