Mandalorian Legion???

501st doesn't care if you show up to events in custom gear. You can wear whatever you want. The only time that comes into question is at "official" events, where we're sponsored by Lucasfilm or for high profile type things where the general public only recognizes movie suits, and therefore all troops are asked to wear those instead of their customs.

They may not care but I would suggest not just busting in and "crashing someone's party" as JoNich sounds to be suggesting. Its always best to talk to the person setting up the event and ask if it's a problem. 9 times out of 10 it wouldn't be.

I apologize if my retort was less than polite at best and downright snide at the worst. I just felt that as interest in creating a "custom" Mandalorian kit, and Mandalorians in general for that matter, is very much on the rise and perhaps it's our turn to make our own niche in the SW EU. I guess I felt perplexed that it sounded like there was resistance to a organized Mandalorian group being formed. I could very well be incorrect, but that's what I felt at the time. Again, I apologize if anyone was offended.

The Mandalorian of the Opera

I had a Very Stupid Idea: Creating an Opera (or a musical comedy) taking place in the Star Wars universe, with only Custom and Canon Mandalorians characters, and performed in Mando'a.

My idea is stupid, but look when you go at the Opera House: most of the time, the play is in an outsider language (especially Italian). In some opera houses, there is even subtitles!

Performing an Opera like that will be very difficult, but if we achieve it, I am sure that there is chances that the 501st will accept us, but the number of Mandalorians fans will coniderably increase, and at least a stronger community will rise.

Is there some ideas for the scenario / era / music sources?
I love Andrew Lloyd Weber's music. perhaps we could name something like "the Mandalorian of the Opera"?

Oya Manda! *****symphonic music*****

I'm in. got no real chance of getting my skirata costume into 501st. and I want ta wear it.

Hey Skirata, you got any pics of your costume? I can't remember seeing anywhere. Just finished reading Karen Traviss's book and would love to see a version of Skirata's costume :)

Lets not get overly dramatic...:rolleyes What's wrong with custom Mandos wanting to start their own organization that it's gotten folks to go out of the way to point out that people will be afraid of us and the like, and that folks putting on these conventions will frown on custom Mandos making appearances. Which boggles the mind as I see photos of custom Mandos in groups of 20 or more, taking group pics at the conventions alot...I just see quite a few people simply getting bored with the status quo and want to venture into a new area of the Star Wars EU costuming etc. What's so wrong with that?

There is no problems! I totally agree with you to create a mando association, but I was just throwing an idea in order to promote Mandalorian culture and custom mandos over the world. Some movies, or musical comedies, have changed mental attitudes. If this is the time to rise, so we must act, and don't stay sitting on a chair, waiting after the "3 Canon sources" necessary for the 501st.

RESPECT

Treat others as you would like to be treated. Respect fellow members and their opinions. Respect must be extended to each and every member, the administrative staff included. Be polite and courteous to others and keep your messages in good taste.Disagreements are bound to happen. Approach them in a civil manner, with respect to the other person's point of view.Should you feel someone has crossed the line and is being disrespectful to you, contact a member of the administrative staff and allow them to handle the situation. If a member's family, gender, race, national origin, etc. is maliciously involved in an argument, the offending member will face an immediate ban. On a final note, respect for the opposite sex must be shown at all times.

Guys, Dha Syntir has some good ideas. If you don't like them, that's ok. There is no need to moch him.

One thing I do want to clarify that was brought up twice in this thread. TDH is not a costuming club, we did not take the place of Phoenix squadron nor are we the Mandalorian or Bounty Hunter detatchement of the 501st. We are not a part of the 501st. We are a resource for people wanting to make Boba, Jango, Zam, and Dented Variant costumes, but we are not a club or a costuming organization like the 501st or the Rebel Legion.

I think that since this is a topic that is geared towards the Dented Variants, I'm going to go ahead and move this thread there.

I've talked to Ceeric, one guy who's been working this idea as well, and part of it would be custom Clone troopers since they are mando'ade. It would be custom legion, but you can also have cannon stuff. I think it would be fun. so what if some people don't recognize it, WHO CARES?! I go to parties for fun, and wearing some armor is fun. The TDH is great for working on making up a good costume, but like Mirax said, this isn't a club like the 501st. We could use this group to get together and help with each other's armor, go paintballing, having airsoft battles, and going to conventions. The 501st does events with the Rebel Legion all the time, and there are alot of other costuming groups out there as well, so why not? It's for fun after all!

any progress on starting a mando legion???i am highly interested in joing much like many of the fine costume builders within these hallowed forums. i would like to see some kind of organization arise for us much like the 501st, like many have stated customs are growing in number and popularity so some form of unity would really be very helpfull and gratifying for some of the builders. also are there any builders within saginaw, bay city or midland michingan here or some where close because it gets very lonely up here in the snow lol

Well I think that the resistance to the Mandalorian Super Commando's might have made some folks not want to walk into a tense conversation. I made the mistake of not posting the thread here rather than in the Sarlaac's den. I'm betting it would have been better received here, but who knows...We've been talking about getting the MSC up and running at the Heroes, Villains, and Mandalorians forum as well as here. I can get you a link if you'd like-just PM me with your request and I'll get you the url...I'd also like to have about 10 customs at the DC convention(which I was unaware of) like Asok suggested. It'd be super cool to have one of our groups Jango, Boba, or even Jaster led in by an "honor guard" of Super Commandos escorting him into and around the convention...It'd also be cool to choreograph "Dha Werda Verda" and perform it at a future convention. Wouldn't that just be incredibly awesome? It'd certainly make my decade!

What I'd like to ask of those of you interested in joining, please start helping us kick around ideas for the group. If you have any skills that would be useful to the MSC's in any way, please let us know...Since it's pretty much just a handful of people, we can use all the help we can get...Thanks!

Happy Holidays!

Okay, YOU have the good idea. if we are assimilated as an honor guard for well-known mandos, we will be known as something like 'Boba's troopers' rather than 'a copy of Boba'. Perhaps some guys will even remember the name of the Mandalorians.

You are all welcome to stop by Mando'ade (Man-do-ah-day)

Thanks. I just registered, but there is a forum named 'Standards for Custom Mandolorians'. I've try to access it, but it is a restricted aera. why? and what does it contains?

That area is just a discussion area where the two or three Command Staff for the group discuss basic costume reqs. Nothing top secret in there.

It might even be cool to choreograph our entrance to the main area of the convention, one with several exits no doubt. If we could clear it with the promoters first of course. Anyway, we come in pairs trailing behind a Boba or Jango who at a certain point gives silent hand signals and a pair will fan out to flank a certain entrance, keeping this up until Boba reaches a certain area with a pair remaining with Boba/Jango to watch his back and yada,yada,yada...It was just a random thought, but perhaps we could work something out along those lines one of these days...Oh, and I just registered over at Mando'ade. Hopefully I'll be able to check out the board later this evening when I get the chance...:D

Happy Holidays!

Well, at least don't forget Jaster. I've noticed that even Jango at conventions gets called Boba every so often, I used to be a jango and witnessed it first hand. Now, as someone who is working on a Jaster costume, I'm more of a fan of EU Mandalorians who have been pictured in comics or who have had their costume described in some detail in the books. I'm not bashing the customs but, it would be nice to see more variety other than repainted Jango and Boba costumes with everyone dented in the same place or the Mythosaur Skull spattered all over the armor. I love it when I see a costume that has had some real thought in it, such as a few of the Jodo Kasts that I have seen around the boards with every detail true to the comic book pictures. Keep up the great work everyone and take pride in your creativity, just know what the symbols you are using mean and have an explanation for them.

ok guys i love the variants and diffrent Mandos... yea most people don;t know what a Mando is, i gota say "Fett, yea he's a mando" then they get it....

but we gota start change the armor then. more then placement but like the general outlook. i divided the chest plate and made my own. I put templates up for Kade armor, take it and keep moddoing it. I think people see the armor not the colors and they go "o its boba, but diffrent".

well thats my 2 cents at least. i say we start change up the armor!
